“Reflection can transform something familiar.” - Diane L. Dunton

Are other people struggling to find creative compositions and new ideas for photography while being limited to where we can travel? Luckily, the light and calm waters were in my favor when capturing this swan at our local park. I did have time to reflect more on my photography during my first year of retirement. I have also done reflecting on who I am now that I am no longer needed by anyone right now. I can be myself more and take time to reflect on many things. I feel like I have made a comfortable transformation into my new life. Maybe, a little like the Ugly Duckling did. :) Happy Wing Wednesday!

A common, but uncommonly beautiful damselfly. Unless you're the little insect it was devouring. I think it was a mosquito so well done Familiar Bluet. Photographed in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge in western Wisconsin.

I'm sure this scene is very familiar to you all as I take pictures quite often of it. Although, it has been some time.

I collect all kinds of things, I don't want to loose stuff so I put things in jars with a neat label on it, doesn't always help...

Ik verzamel van alles, om niks kwijt te raken stop ik dingen in potjes met een net etiketje erop, helpt niet altijd...

This a familiar spot, I have shot sunset with this tree a few times but it is the landscape behind it that really catches the eye from this perspective. Cissbury ring. The track along the crest of the hill is the South downs way that stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne.

Mad World - Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces

Worn out places, worn out faces

Bright and early for their daily races

Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses

No expression, no expression

Hide my head, I want to drown my sorrow

No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad

The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take

When people run in circles it's a very very

Mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day, they feel good

Happy birthday, happy birthday

Made to feel the way that every child should

Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous

No one knew me, no one knew me

Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson

Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad

The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take

When people run in circles it's a very very

Mad world, mad world

View On Black

The red-bellied woodpecker is so common, vocal, and eye-catching that it could be elected “most familiar woodpecker” in the eastern United States.

Named for its least obvious field mark, a faint blush of red on the belly that is rarely seen. It can be found in almost any wooded area, including suburban neighborhoods and parks. It is immediately recognized by the black-and-white zebra barring on the back and the red cowl, which is limited to the back of the head in females. Tolerant of humans, it is a regular visitor to feeders, favoring sunflower seed, suet, and fruit. Highly vocal, the most common call is a loud, rolling churr, less sharp than that of the similar red-headed woodpecker. They also make softer kek notes in short series, similar to the call of a flicker. Red-bellied woodpeckers have slowly extended their range north in the past fifty years and are now found to extreme southern Canada.

I found this not so familiar looking Juvenile in my yard! Polk County, Florida.

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power. Alan Cohen

~happy snowy path fence friday~

Allways so familiar and curious,,, and its singing sound is beautiful and invigorating

We took a walk to the summit at night, you and I

To burn a hole in the old grip of the familiar true to life

And the dark was opening wide, do or die

Under a mask of vermillion ruling eyes.
