Off the water and back to the woods to soak up some of the remaining color which is holding fairly well, especially given the strong winds we've had the last few days. I went out specifically to take a bunch of photos to upload into my "new friend," with the single and not unrealistic (I thought) hope of being able to find them...which I did, but not until after numerous wrong guesses as to where I thought they seemingly should be...like "Pictures."
By the way, I appreciate your support and tips re: my new desk top (not a laptop as some seem to have guessed), and it progresses slowly. I really don't use a computer for much other than my photos so I haven't even begun to tap the capabilities of this one...and am uncertain as to whether I will even try or not. What I would like to find is the 90% of my photos which did not appear with the others when I transferred them from the flash drive to the new computer. 10% are in fancy new folders...the rest unpleasantly invisible. Everything sees very hit and miss...mostly miss for now causing me to simply walk away from the computer and find other occupations. My learning curve and patience have both suffered with old age.

I had always loved seeing a photo of this tree in many of my contacts photostreams. I had never known where it was until James and I were wondering around Steptoe one night. I was so happy when I saw it even though I knew I couldn't do it justice. So here is my first attempt, and I am looking forward to photographing this tree next spring.
I recently bought this for the garden and learned they can grow into shrubs here in the tropics. Hopefully this one will thrive and make lots of flowers.

For those that aren't familiar with London this is the Greenwich foot tunnel. It runs under the Thames and connects Greenwich with the Isle of Dogs, leading onto Canary Wharf a mile or two beyond. At both ends of the foot tunnel is a lift plus a set of stairs. I used to know the exact number of steps to get to street level because when I was still working my folding bicycle and I used to go through this foot tunnel twice a day and more often than not one or both of the lifts would be out of service. Not sure how reliable they are these days but what I can say is when I used it on my recent visit it was working just fine. So this is me up against the wall of the lift shooting back through the glass doors towards the tunnel just as the doors have closed.

This scene might be familiar to some of you – it's the GR III version of the "synchronized couple" relaxing on the lawn in front of the main tropical greenhouse at the Botanical Garden in Berlin that I've posted for last Sliders Sunday ("Fun in the Sun", please see the second comment). Well, this one is a little different, it's not the GR version I'd taken from the same position and with the same point of view as the Lensbaby SOL 22 photo which I originally wanted to do either as a monochrome or as a slider for today. But I was never happy with any of the monochrome versions I've processed, because whatever I did, contrasty b&w, soft, sepia... when the colour was gone, all of the sunny lightness and summer ease was gone, too. I've also processed a vintage style colour version of that photo for today, but then stumbled upon this photo with the palm tree and bench (only half of it, but I still think it's a nice element in the image), and I liked that a little better, because it's the same scenery, but a completely different photo, and it also shows a little more of the beautiful ambience of the Botanical Garden. And while this photo actually works well in mono, too, I decided to keep it in colour. Maybe I'm not in "mono mood" right now ;)
DXO PhotoLab processing steps: sharpening and DeepPRIME denoising, a little sliding in ClearView Plus and Smart Lighting, and for the colour rendition (which I usually keep as is) I chose a Leica M10-D simulation, because it added such a nice, creamy-summerly turquoise touch to the blue sky. Next step: Analog Efex for a vintage post card look (Classical Camera preset 7, tweaked), and next.... As far as I recall I also did something in Color Efex (Skylight Filter, most likely), and I also did something in ON1, but since I processed all the different versions of the two GR photos at the same time, I probably got the further processing steps mixed up...
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe and take care!
The Familiar chat (Oenanthe familiaris), is a small passerine bird of the Old World flycatcher family Muscicapidae. It is a common resident breeder in Africa south of the Sahara in rocky and mountainous habitat and around human habitation. This cheeky little bird came to join us for morning tea and happily accepted small offerings of food.

Concluding photographs from a familiar walk around the RWY, with a couple of close-ups of the local flora.
I look at this and smile, in that ever bit of fellside and top, every bit of woodland you can see I've wandered or traversed ... still I seek out perhaps the odd carbuncle perhaps where I haven't been .. but struggle :))
With all the excitement of the new spring birds arriving, it is easy to take the familiar faces for granted. I truly enjoy watching the Cardinal couple in our backyard. Although I have not put a feeder out this spring, they still come to nibble on my suet that I had left over and they bathe in the bird bath under the budding Lilac tree. They whiz through the yard with such expertise. When they fly in, they fly low and barely skim the hedge. My husband wondered if they stay low because of their bright color. It may make them less visible to predators and give them quick access to cover if they need it. I just get ready to duck out of the way when they come.
Una pequeña escapada a Barcelona por asuntos familiares me ha permitido recorrer algunos de los lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad. Ya de noche llegábamos al Palacio Nacional de Montjuic después de visitar el castillo. _2110397

Yes its a familiar scene, however, the seasons and the lighting are always changing - the light early yesterday morning was lovely and so is this scene. This is a stitched pano of 5 images, then enhanced, then touched in Photoshop - when I finished playing it was 1.8GB - thankfully the JPEG is smaller
