De tous les côtés, des points de vue pittoresques. Inoubliable ascension. Pour un peu de culture, passez donc la nuit au Berghotel Faulhorn, le plus ancien hôtel de montagne de Suisse!
Der First ist eine Verflachung des Südwest-Rückens zum Widderfeldgrätli (2'632 m ü. M.) im Berner Oberland nördlich oberhalb von Grindelwald. Er ist über eine Gondelbahn oder zu Fuss erreichbar. Die obere Bergstation heisst ebenfalls First (2'167 m ü. M.) und steht den Besuchern im Winter und im Sommer mit einem gut ausgebauten Ski- und Wandergebiet zur Verfügung.
Besonders beliebt ist die Wanderung zum Bachalpsee und weiter zum Faulhorn, die ein spektakuläres Panorama mit Blick auf den oberen Grindelwaldgletscher sowie Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau bietet. Eine weitere interessante Wanderung führt auf das Schwarzhorn. Östlich von First liegt 5,6 Kilometer zu Fuss entfernt die Grosse Scheidegg.
Der First ist ein Startort für Paraglider und Deltasegler sowie Ausgangspunkt für zahlreiche Mountainbiketouren. Station First bietet auch einen imposanten kurvenreichen Schlittenweg, welcher bei guten Schneeverhältnissen direkt nach Grindelwald führt.

The Matterhorn (German), Monte Cervino (Italian) or Mont Cervin (French), is a mountain in the Pennine Alps on the border between Switzerland and Italy. Its summit is 4,478 meters (14,690 ft) high, making it one of the highest peaks in the Alps. The four steep faces, rising above the surrounding glaciers, face the four compass points. The mountain overlooks the town of Zermatt in the canton of Valais to the north-east and Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley to the south. The Theodul Pass, located at the eastern base of the peak, is the lowest passage between its north and south side.
Le Cervin (Cervino en italien, Matterhorn en allemand) est un sommet alpin de 4 478 mètres d'altitude, situé sur la frontière italo-suisse, entre le canton du Valais et la vallée d'Aoste.
Le Cervin est la montagne la plus connue de Suisse, notamment pour l'aspect pyramidal qu'elle offre depuis le village de Zermatt, dans la partie alémanique du canton du Valais.
L'ascension de la face nord fut considérée comme le dernier des grands exploits de l'alpinisme dans les Alpes, avec celle de l'Eiger et celle des Grandes Jorasses qui forment ensemble les trois grandes faces nord des Alpes..

"Most striking of all Locarno’s sights is the Franciscan Santuario della Madonna del Sasso church (daily 6.30am–7pm), an impressive ochre vision floating above the town on a wooded crag – sasso means rock – and consecrated in 1487 on the spot where, seven years earlier, the Virgin had appeared to Brother Bartholomeo da Ivrea from the San Francesco monastery in the town. The twenty-minute walk up through the lush ravine of the Torrente Ramogno and past a handful of decaying shrines, is atmospheric enough in itself; or you could take the half-hourly funicular from just west of the station to Ticino’s greatest photo-op, looking down through the palms to the sunlit arcaded main front of the church and glittering blue lake behind.
Within the complex is a small museum of icons (Easter–Oct Sun–Fri 2–5pm; Fr.2.50), but the church sanctuary is the focus of all the pilgrims’ attention. On the way through the complex you’ll pass several striking terracotta sculpture groups of biblical scenes. The low, Baroque interior of the church features a number of paintings, two of which stand out: Bramartino’s emotionally charged Fuga in Egitto (Flight to Egypt, 1522) and local artist Antonio Ciseri’s Trasporto di Cristo al Sepolcro (1870). The statue of the Virgin on the high altar was sculpted for the church’s consecration by an unknown artist. By the doorway are dozens of votive offerings from pilgrims giving thanks for the intervention of Mary in their daily lives."

"The Jungfrau railway (German: Jungfraubahn, JB) is a metre gauge (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in gauge) rack railway which runs 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) from Kleine Scheidegg to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch (3,454 m), between the Bernese Oberland and Valais in Switzerland. The railway runs almost entirely within the Jungfrau Tunnel, built into the Eiger and Mönch mountains and containing two stations in the middle of the tunnel, where passengers can disembark to observe the neighbouring mountains through windows built into the mountainside. The initial open-air section culminates at Eigergletscher (2,320 m), which makes it the second highest open-air railway in Switzerland. The line is electrified at 3-phase 1,125 volts 50 Hertz, and is one of four lines in the world using three-phase electric power.
At Kleine Scheidegg the JB connects with the Wengernalpbahn (WAB), which has two routes down the mountain, running respectively to the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald. From both villages, branches of the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) connect to the Swiss Federal Railways at Interlaken.
The line is owned by the Jungfraubahn Holding AG, a holding company that also owns the Wengernalpbahn and Lauterbrunnen–Mürren mountain railway railways. Through that holding company it is part of the Allianz - Jungfrau Top of Europe marketing alliance, which also includes the separately owned Berner Oberland Bahn and Schynige Platte railways.
