Sleet and Snow .
A walk on the Moors in Derbyshire's Dark Peak with my dog took me to the Higher Shelf Stones on Bleaklow .
It was here that the Boeing B-29 Super fortress "Over Exposed" crashed in low cloud in 1948 killing all 13 crew.
In recent years the site has been partially excavated exposing the remains .

We were exposed to a deep freeze and snow, but I wanted to try to capture trodden trails in the area. My hands initially were so cold with the Rolleiflex that I did a first exposure blank with the lens cap on, since my hands were shaking in the sub-zero F temperatures. I was definitely trying to capture snow, shadows and shapes along the paths in the woods. While cold, the light and trees with the reflections from the show were wonderful, and were ideal for B&W images. I'll go back with another roll or two since there were so many other images possible - but this time I'll have hand warmers. Thanks to the flckeranians who help us all get just a bit better.
This was shot on the dashboard of my car with the light coming in from the left. I put a gym bag and a black t-shirt behind the flower for a suitable background... a la drivebyphotographer!

This giant Strangler Fig has overwhelmed the host tree and now supports itself on innumerable prop roots that reach 30 metres to the jungle floor.

in the early 1930s, is the most celebrated engine in American motor sports. The “Offy” scored 27 Indianapolis 500 wins from 1935 to 1976. The cylinder head and crankcase are a single unit, permitting higher pressures. The large pipes on the engine’s left side feed air into the fuel injectors.
