One of last nights star trail shots over at Hadleigh Castle in Essex. I had several missed opportunities in the past week where I couldn't get out to take advantage of clear skys so last night I dropped my friend Russ a quick text to see if he fancied sitting in a damp field for a couple of hours and surprisingly he said "yes.....sounds like fun". We arrived at 10.30pm, greeted by cloudy skys :( Luckily these cleared away quite quickly. We were joined briefly by some yoofs who painted a bit of their own light into the image. I don't think they realised we were there as shortly after I'd fired up the floodlight they disappeared.
The light was provided by a remote area lighting product, borrowed from the office, which was a past design job for one of our clients.....and it was bloody awesome. It's LED based so it provided some nice blue light - it was switched on for a few seconds in one of the exposures to paint some light onto the brickwork.
With my previous attempts in the garden I hadn't encountered the problems of condensation on the lens. About halfway through the 50mins shot time the lens started to fog up, obscuring the castle. Luckily the trails still shone through (but gradually fade out). I think this actually adds quite a nice (accidental) effect.
I somehow managed to capture Russ motionless in one of the 30 sec exposures so I kept him in the composition......I think he adds something good to the image, silhouetted on the horizon. I had wanted to include the north star in the shot but I couldn't get round to the right spot - the hill that the castle stands on dropped away rapidly fairly close to where I was standing.
After a few hours in the cold & damp I had quite a few shots to work with so at 1.10am, several coffees down and a flat camera battery we headed for home.
Image comprised of 99 (max shots available on continuous shooting with Nikon cameras) 30 second exposures overlaid to show the spin of the earth reflected in the star trail movement. Bit of work in photoshop to adjust contrasts to enhance the trails and to overlay layers.

Small and hard to photograph inside a bush but a supremely lovely bird. It was singing beautifully in the sunshine. The Butleigh Firecrest.
The Vagator beach located near Mapusa Road, North Goa and 22 km far from the state capital Panaji is less crowded and isolated compared to other Goan beaches. It boasts of pure white sand, doted with black lava rocks and swaying coconut and palm trees and lies within the backdrop of the 500-year-old Portuguese Fort and takes the visitors down the memory lane depicting the Old Portuguese era. Vagator's broad white sandy beach - Big Vagator Beach also known as "Little Vagator" is undeniably beautiful and offers picturesque vista with the red ramparts of Chapora Fort.

This summer my friend and I decided to just drive around see if we'd find anything interesting to photograph. We were just going along when we came across this random castle and I knew I had to stop and get a picture. Instead of just taking a simple picture of it I decided to make it a little "unique" by creating a filter using my sunglasses. I felt like it would give it the feeling as if you were seeing the castle from my point of view.
I have been working a lot recently and the stress level in my life has been very high with work. It is part of a cycle that has, thankfully, crested; I think. Today is about rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It is sunny outside. The birds are busy at the feeders. My son willingly helped me with my concept for an ODC I had come to mind this morning. Now I am heading out for a drive in the country with the love of my life. Later, I will be enjoying a feast of seafood and cake, created with love, especially for me.
I am grateful for weekends off :-)
An experiment with my new Olympus macro lens. Flowers courtesy of my brother and family. I told my brother the day before this shot that I wasn't intending to do macro's of flies eyes or flowers with it and hoped to do something different... Oh well!

I have struggled with waxwings' faces - they're dark but with a lot of contrast too, and the birds' heads are always in motion. I honestly didn't think I would pull this off: the bird's perched in the shadows and the willows across the creek are being flooded by the early morning sun. I only took the shot in the first place because waxwings are rarely out in the open in the lower canopy like this.

The first Ford Explorers were 4-door SUVs based on their Ranger pickup truck line. As popular as the Explorers came to be, at a certain point I suppose that there was a perceived market to have a pickup truck version of the Explorer (i.e. with an open box), hence the Explorer Sport Trac!

Hi friends, please pray for Levi, my grandson. He had very bad asthma today and turned blue. The ambulance, 5 paramedics, and 5 police caars came today.....I'm thankful for the county I live it, they responded quickly and he was breathing better. His mom has him at the doctor right now. The pollen is really making him sick.
