I know these don't come out perfect. I know the IQ certainly isn't there. The colours can be a bit off..... But there's just something about them that I love!!

A lone hiker explores the huge rock canyons, arches, and windows early in the morning. There's an almost endless supply of rock formations to explore and daybreak is the best time to do so. The rock almost glows red in color as the low angle sun hits it for the first time.

As the sun began to set, I looked upstream from the waves for a few minutes. No surprise that occupants are being warned of flooding. My favourite part is the Surfer [middle right] who was weighing up how to ride these unusual waves, out of view of the Coastguard, who were there in force! It's always a lovely surprise to feature in Explore - thank you all for your visits, kind comments and favourites, all are very much appreciated!
When the Jungfernstieg subway station was built in 1932, construction workers came across several old driven piles that belonged to the Alstermühlendamm weir built in 1250, the forerunner of the later Jungfernstieg. Professor Richard Luksch, who at the time taught at the Hamburg School of Arts and Crafts (now the HFBK), designed one of the piles as a gift to the Hanseatic city to become the Jungfernsäule. Seven maidens, as symbols of the seven centuries that the pile had already endured at that time, decorate the column all around at different heights. The design of each young woman is based on a particular century, sometimes in medieval garb, sometimes modern.
Summer is a great time for taking photos not only because of wonderful sunsets and sunrises, fresh grass and forests. I also like thunderstorms, the power of it. And of course the wonderful smell of ozone that promises heavy rain very soon.
The picture that I took occasionally while returning from a small picnic on a river bank.
Thank you for all the comments and faves, my friends.

Taken on a recent trip to the west coast of Scotland was rewarded with this image after a long wait for heavy showers to stop. Was well worth the wait I was not aware at the time it was a double rainbow.

We planned on getting to the tree right as the sun was setting. We couldn't have asked for a better sky!

A quick meeting outside Toronto's Queen Street subway station resulted in this street portrait of Pops. Some skepticism resulted from my introducing myself and my request to photograph him. I think my sharing my name did something to tip the balance. He consented and I took just this one photo. He seemed satisfied when I showed him the result, but his initial skepticism still shows in the portrait.

Bow Lake is one of the lakes that line the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park and Jasper National Park, fed by melt-water from the Bow Glacier, the lake lies at the base of Bow Summit, which is perfectly reflected in its aquamarine waters on a calm day. One of my favorite lakes at Rocky Mountains, visited at least seven times in the last fall trip. Arrived at bow lake very early, experienced the most weather changes in that morning; amazed by the magnificent peaks and reflections on the lake with the fall colors in the foreground. The view is stunning. Few people around, spending some time walking around the lake, the sceneries of Canadian Rockies are out of this world.
Happy Easter my dear Flickr friends!

I thought it about time I uploaded a recent picture of Ashala taken on a wet at the bottom of our garden, standing proudly on a recently laid patio which isn't quite finished yet.
