Based on garments I had as a child, these dresses are representative of my bi-cultural upbringing. The hanbok, a traditional Korean dress, is symbolic of my ethnic heritage; and the tiered gown is emblematic of what I, as a little girl, believed to be American. Their proportions are distorted to create a disparate relationship between doll size and human size - to evoke memories of playing “dress up,” while staying grounded in the time of “adulthood.”

The key to fulfillment is to simply shift our concentration away from results and expectations. Instead, we must focus upon resisting our own impulsive reactions, which are nothing more than robotic responses to a given situation. In the moment we resist expectation, we have exercised the sacred trait of free will.
