In the unlikely event of a creationist browsing my stream, no, this doesn't mean we evolved from them, so no, there is no mystery in them still being around.

Now, I return to this young fellow. And the communication I have got to make is, that he has great expectations. -- Dickens

This picture goes with the next photo of the actual journal entry. This student did a great job not only with detail in their picture, but the picture is also neat, and reflects what the student had wrote in their journal entry.

This seagull had clearly learned that people ate up here! You can see clearly how far we'd come that day... all the way from the flat fields behind the beach.

As Christians, we may harbor unrealistic expectations of perfection for ourselves. But even if we can somehow manage the appearance of a flawless life, our thoughts and motives are never completely pure.

John the disciple wrote, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8). The remedy is not to hide our sins and to strive harder, but to step into the light of God’s truth and confess them. “If we walk in the light,” said John, “as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (v. 7).

In medicine, Dr. Goldman proposes the idea of a “redefined physician” who—in a culture where we are hesitant to admit our errors—no longer toils under the tyranny of perfection. Such a physician openly shares mistakes and supports colleagues who do the same, with a goal of reducing mistakes.

What if Christians were known not for hiding their sins but for loving and supporting each other with the truth and grace of our God? What if we practiced a risky yet healthy honesty with each other and with the watching world?

Father, it’s so difficult for us to share our faults with each other, but You call us to wholeness as Your people. Empower us by Your Spirit to live courageously in love and honesty.

Honesty with God about our sin brings forgiveness.

During the first moments of our events, we always set hopes and expectations.

Open Mic

'Open Mic' is the latest venture by the Old Joes' Choir to push the limits of choral music. Having already been successful in bridging the void between choral music and theatre through story telling using the instrument of music and song, the OJC will journey further by depicting characters and their respective emotions and life stories through song. The setting will be an 'Open Mic' Night at a pub wherein patrons of the establishment are invited to sing about their life stories.

The songs will in turn take the audience down the paths of each of these patrons ‐ their youth, their hopes and expectations, perhaps their naivety. The songs will then evolve into a more mature tone as the characters develop, reflecting a more jaded view about life. But during the course of the night, they will realize that the present and the future is what they make it to be and that they should be the hope and the change that they wish to create.
