This is an image I likely wouldn't have posted, but after an interesting conversation with Flickr friend Flaushi & Friends on a swan she captured out on the ocean, I decided to share.
I had heard there was an owl at the lake not too far from work, so I decided to take a second trip (first trip was unsuccessful) after my shift to look for her. My daughter and faithful Border Collie, Bandit came along on the adventure.
After looking for a short time I spotted her out on the docks and walked around the shore trying to find a half decent angle to photograph her. In the meantime, a pair of mute swans swam over to see if we had brought them any goodies. I ignored them at first, since the owl had my full attention, but one of the two was quite persistent. He (or she) came right up to shore, stood up tall and was almost beak to nose with Bandit. Bandit was quite entertained and went into his usual OCD dance bouncing up and down on his hind legs and licking the ice at his feet. The swan wasn't at all phased and stretched out his long neck with an expectant look on his face. When he finally decided I had nothing for him, he swiftly ruffled his feathers and turned away from me. This was captured as he swam away glancing back with a look of disgust at my insensitivity for showing up empty handed.
Jasper often uses his eyes to woo us into playing. Sad, expectant, playful, taunting and of course, hopeful. Tools in his toolchest to get the humans to play. (That's Edward the Elephant by Jasper's side.) 52 Weeks for Dogs Eye challenge
This is what the expectant crowd were waiting for in my "Anticipation" shot from a few days ago. A wonderful flight of Connie - the Lockheed Super Constellation which is apparently one of only two left flying in the world. They are great to see at any time of day, but this sunset flight was something special. It was amazing to hear those 18 cylinder radial engines and see them spitting flame from the exhausts!
Taken at the Avalon Airshow in 2013. Camera was held high above my head to see over the crowd and I could only press the shutter a few times and hope for the best

One more photo of social criticism... In this photo I dare to expose exactly what I refer to, since it has no credit at all :P
Every day we can see the circus, which has not changed much. Manipulating ourselves with their means, constantly following our movements. For their pure governmental, economic and collective atonement purposes. Whereas society, unfortunately, is always divided between wolves and lambs.
It is a pity that the summit does not burn and that all those who form part of the base of the pyramid are freed. Something impossible, while the only god that exists, in this miserable corrupt and materialistic world, is money.
What a shame to be slaves to a simple piece of paper that has the power to manage a lifetime and bring it to the most absolute misery.
Therefore, if that day comes, many of us would be spectators: "While Everything Burns".
Here I say goodbye. I’m not very social in my own hahaha
I hope as long as you like it. :D
Thank you so much for seeing me every day! <3

Cross
Perhaps, perhaps, that ye cross, what do you know?
Drawing, that he wants to be much closer to you.
And maybe, that venturing, forsaking
This hideaway, youll be anything,
And it shoots you into total distance,
People are standing along path,
Asking why you wont stop...
From expectant war,
The cross seems to you to be brand new and unworn out,
Back again,
Let alone means actually, that you never get rid of it,
Quite possible, that ye cross, what do you know?
Exactly as big as you can think it up
And maybe I already can tell, you have your idea?
Releasing him now, let lie wherever,
And it shoots you into total distance,
People are standing along path,
Asking why you wont stop...
From expectant war,
The cross seems to you to be brand new and unworn out,
Back again,

Photographed a couple of days ago when he was still an expectant father. Today he was announcing to all and sundry that the babies have hatched. I can hear them but not see the nest. The nest is in our next door neighbour's 'big tree'!
A new addition to the decorations this year are these crocheted (by The Niqui, who else?) Penguins, waiting expectantly outside their igloo for Santa to come.
It's now 10.10am on Saturday 17th April 2021 where we see Riddles designed BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92214 Leicester City departing from Quorn and Woodhouse, Great Central Railway (GCR), Leicestershire with the day's first passenger return service train to and from Leicester North - following further easing of the COVID travel restrictions.
Indeed a 'Historical Moment'!
A quarter of an hour earlier, it had arrived with its empty 'Sanitised' coaches from Loughborough Central to collect is excited and expectant passengers.
For the time being, four passenger services operate at weekends on Saturdays and Sundays with passengers joining and embarking at Quorn and Woodhouse. After each trip, the empty coaches then return to Loughborough for further 'Sanitisation'.
Pity there's no sound to accompany this image. I suspect the crew wanted to commemorate this 'Momentous Occasion' in some style! So pleased I could share this 'Happy Moment' with you too!

I took Olive & Evie to the fields yesterday afternoon, it was mild and sunny for a change. Lots of opportunity to run about and a bit of ball play.
Here is Olive waiting for more, damp paws, a huge tongue and a shiny chuckit ball :)

This is definitely not the shot I had set out to take when I jumped out of the van last September. I knew I only had about a 10 minute window to make it to the overlook at Moraine Lake before I lost the late afternoon sun. I was sprinting and gasping for air as I came around this last corner, but I instantly slammed on the brakes when I noticed a bride waiting expectantly for her photographer on the top of the ridge. It's hard to imagine a better location for a wedding shoot and this bride was certainly getting her money's worth (or her dad's money's worth) as the warm late afternoon sun was backlighting her beautifully against the majestic peaks behind her. I took several shots of her with a couple of different lenses, but I chose this one as a) you can't see her face and I don't have a model release form and b) I love the juxtaposition of the petite figure in white surrounded by epic grandeur in all directions. I eventually made it to the overlook before I lost the sun and took a surprising amount of shots before the sun dropped behind the ridge, prompting us to hustle back to the van as we were already late for our next location.

A few weeks ago I spent a day at my nephew's place who lives in an old farm house.
A great joy to see all the bird life in and around the house, so again my camera made overtime.
What I really like of this shot (of course the two young who are looking very expectantly) are the wonderful colors of the feathers. He/she is a rainbow!
In this smoke shot, the abstract picture I get is the expectant mother, that dreaded question when are you due, with the reply I am not pregnant is always an awkward moment.
Indoor play with Olive on wet. cold days, none of us are keen to be out for long. To be fair Evie plays too and it keeps them both occupied. Hard to resist such cute expectant faces :)
This cheeky squirrel had no problem with cameras, as you can see!!

She always loved libraries. The smell of books bringing back memories of so many adventures and meeting new friends.
Her trip today was no exception. She was lost in a story, but when she looked up, she smiled as she realized the story had found her.
"Well now..." she said softly. "Will you show me where the adventure takes us from here?"
The creature beside her stopped gazing around and gave a happy grunt as he looked at her expectantly.
"I am happy to meet you too." she replied with a grin. "Lead the way! I shall follow close behind..."

The rose is a flower of love. The world has acclaimed it for centuries. Pink roses are for love hopeful and expectant. White roses are for love dead or forsaken, but the red roses, ah the red roses are for love triumphant. Unknown.
Smile on Saturday.
Rose is a Rose.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
Psalm 5:3
“Disciples are expectant in the sense that they take it for granted that there is always something about to break through from the Master, the Teacher, something about to burst through the ordinary and uncover a new light on the landscape.”

Lake Baikal is a rift lake in southern Siberia, it is the world's largest freshwater lake by volume, containing 23% of the world's fresh surface water, which is more water than all of the North American Great Lakes combined. Lake Baikal has a maximum depth of 1,642 m (5,387 ft), and is the world's deepest lake. It is among the world's clearest lakes and is the world's oldest, at 25–30 million years. Lake Baikal is also the world's seventh-largest lake by surface area.
Shown here, the boat in which we cruised the lake and ate lunch.
An extract from today's Journal entry:-
This morning an excursion to Lake Baikal. It was a 70 Km drive to Listvyanka where we were subjected to yet another museum visit, with Lena at the top of her form. The lecture tour lasted an eternity and only ended when we went into a room where we experienced a video of a dive in a bathyscaphe to the bottom of Lake Baikal. The commentary was in Russian, the room cramped and I felt claustrophobic.
Next a visit to an aquarium where the walkway was too narrow for the crowd, many of the windows into the tanks were covered in condensation and I thought the tanks too small for the captives inside. Lena and Masha met me at the exit and asked what I thought of the aquarium. From their expectant tones I knew they wanted to hear words of praise, the best I could say was that it was very crowded. Not what they waned to hear, but a long way short of my true thoughts.
By now the weather had turned nasty. A heavy mist hung over Lake Baikal and visibility was down to a few hundred metres. Even so, we had a two hour lunch cruise booked on the lake. We boarded a vessel which I expected to share with the hoards of tourists, but we had the boat to ourselves.
There was nothing to see from the outside decks, it was cold, the visibility low and it rained. Inside, a seafood lunch was laid out for us. The local fish is Omul, a fish about the size of a large trout. We ate smoked Omul which was delicious. There was a garden salad with strips of Omul in it, this was eaten on black bread (very nice). There were plates of delicious sweets and coffee to complete the meal; a most excellent feast.

The male swan at the fishing lake awaits the hatching of his brood, sometimes taking his turn on the nest. He's rather irritable, no doubt working up his aggression ready to protect his young.
