Yellows in Autumn. Helianthus tuberosus, Wild Sunflower, and Marmalade Hoverfly, Episyrphus balteatus, Flevopark, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

On the glum Autumn morning with little in the way of flowering plants, there was this Wild Sunflower, almost 'gone'. Although it's been around in The Netherlands since around 1900, it's still termed an 'exotic' but it appears to happily grow everywhere. Here its Flower is being visited by one of my favorite Hoverflies, Episyrphus balteatus, the Marmalade Hoverfly. In Dutch it goes often by the name Snorzweefvlieg, Mustache Hoverfly, on account of its markings.
