August 13, 2024 - Stop #3 of Columbus Landmark Foundations Most Endangered Building Bus Tour - Mifflin No. 5 Schoolhouse located at 3680 Westerville Rd. a cornerstone said it was built in 1907. It is currently the community center for the Bhutanese community. It is in the way of progress and will be demolished later this year for a housing development and parking.
"The Mifflin District No. 5 Schoolhouse is a former school building in Columbus, Ohio, at 3680 Westerville Road. The building was listed as one of the Columbus Landmarks Foundation's Most Endangered Sites in 2024.[1]
The building was constructed around 1907, and serves as a good example of early neighborhood schoolhouses. The brick structure includes a distinctive central tower with exposed rafter tails at its roof overhang.[1] Above the building's front door is an engraved stone reading "Mifflin Dist No. 5". After serving as a schoolhouse, the building was utilized as a summer home (beginning in 1925), full-time residence, and as a house of worship (since at least 1989).[3]
A recent proposal involved replacing the building and surrounding 12.5 acres with 264 units of multifamily housing and 398 spaces for cars within parking lots. The project was approved by Columbus's development commission in 2023.[1][2]" Previous description: localwiki.org/columbus/Mifflin_District_No._5_Schoolhouse

There's a sculpture in the atrium of the building where I work that looks pretty neat. It's especially interesting in the morning when the sunlight coming in the windows hits it. I'd been meaning to go in on a weekend and take some photos as the atrium is fairly busy during the week (and I need to get to work).
I ended up taking photos in the parking deck, the atrium, the garden, the bridge to the tower, the stairwell, the network closet/machine room and the quadrangle in front of the building. A few shots of a sculpture turned into a 300 shot adventure all over the building with about 120 being suitable to put up on flickr.
I looked at this after I took it and realized how cool that circle of light looked. No Photoshop- yet. Just crop and color fixing. so, kinda photohop- just not in photohop
JUST noticed the EXIT sign pointing to the light. Cool :P

This week was actually not that bad, a bit hectic, but not bad.
We threw a surprise party for Nancy.. well not really a party... more like a dinner with just our lunch table... it was at this lovely Italian trattoria Peppino's (whose ceiling is pictured here)
Other than that things are slowly just moving on along..
no big news or anything to share, so yea.
