There was an accident on the northbound 190, so I detoured myself around it and decided to take a picture en route.

(This is during rush hour. The closer lane, with very few light trails, is the lane leading out of the city. I'm guessing that that accident was doing a pretty good job of clogging everything up)

This was taken from an old theater in Quebec that was closing

absolutely horrendous when viewed large, please don't.

Day Twenty-one of the July "lighting fixtures" challenge.

Having a little fun today with complimentary colors in the office safety equipment. Popped my on-camera flash point-blank into the fire alarm strobe light, hoping to show up its reflectivity a bit. I'd bring it out more if I had time for some more elaborate post-processing.

Hat-tip to the Meet the Gimp video podcast for helpful tips on creating diptychs and triptychs using GIMP. I think it was episode 13 or so. If you're a (too cheap to buy PhotoShop) GIMP user, like me, you need to check it out. I've learned a ton already and I've only watched a few episodes so far.

We refaced this exit sign in Woodbury.

Thunderbucket

Julie and I went to see Trent's band at The Blue Pickle tonight. His band is called Thunderbucket Blues Band and he has been doing the majority of the singing but tonight Seth Held was singing for them. I guess it was his first gig with them.

I got to meet Bob Damnit at The Blue Pickle; he was at the bar when I went to order our drinks. We had a good conversation. It was nice that Trent's band wasn't super loud.

We had dinner at Villa Nova before going to The Blue Pickle.

This morning I went to the dance studio and was able to re-create "One" by U2 with the help of a couple dancers and another instructor.

One of many Running Man signs we saw throughout Spain. If you need to get to an exit, just follow the Running Man.

This is what happens when I have nothing to do after spending the whole day working on my After Effects project.

The candles and sign are reflected in an old barn window and the mask is part of a 10 sec exposure. I took the photo in my living room between working and COPS.

Really just trying out a Canon 50mm f/1.8 I borrowed from a friend. Thought the nice, green color of this exit sign would go well against a desaturized background.

Seattle, Washington

From playing pool, from many school projects, to the changing of the seasons, to zombies!, to a photo expo to reflections off of my dorm as well as an exit sign to an all nighter , to an attempt at a long exposure, to reflections off a lake, to cats in a box, to a hawk having its dinner, to a cat watching tv, to a fundraiser for a sick child, to so much rain, to rain and snow in a matter of hours, to going on vacation to spending new years in the city, to many days of snow and a city slowly going to night

here is to the next 65 days

its hard to imagine how much has happened in these 300 days, i'm not going to stop with this project, going to keep going even after i finish with this one

I liked the simplicity of this exit sign and thought that the selective colour treatment suited it and helped the exit sign to pop.

All of my images are available in hi-res without the stamp and border.

Escape hatch on a ships deck with rust all around it.

I got these two over the summer for such a good price that I didn't consider the mounting option. Turns out they're double sided, resulting with the Lithonia Quantum 1st gen. being installed as an alternative (as seen in earlier photos).

Exit signs show you where to go in case of an emergency. This sign can be seen down a long hallway and will shine through smoke to get you to safety.

I posted this a few months ago. I was feeling sickly that day and didn't get a really good shot. Not that this one is any better, but I shot it at all three angles.

There was once several of these. Why this one survived is a mystery.

across from the Film Center Building on 9th Avenue between 44th and 45th was built by Ely Jacques Kahn in 1928 at the very height of the Art Deco movement. Take a look at its spectacular polychromed lobby the next time you are in the area!

This sign, on the ground near a stairwell, stood out. It was one of the only examples of signage that I have seen in the cold storage building built in 1920.
