The existence of a number of Leyster's copies after compositions by Frans Hals has led to the supposition that she may have worked in his studio prior to her marriage to Jan Miense Molenaer in 1636, a theory supported by her swift, painterly approach to figure painting. The present work is reminiscent of Leyster's Violinist (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond) where we encounter a similar unwieldy perspective in the depiction of the instrument, characteristic of that artist. The pose and expressive face of the musician; the head tilted back with an upward glance; the mouth ajar are devices typically employed by Leyster and betray her hand in this work.

For a woman living in the seventeenth century, Judith Leyster was remarkable. She worked for several years around Utrecht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands, before returning to Haarlem where she entered the painters' guild in 1633. She also had her own studio and taught several students. In 1636 Leyster married painter Jan Miense Molenaer. Scholars believe that Leyster made few paintings after her marriage, though she may have collaborated with her husband.

This photo is quite bad quality, as it was taken on my phone at school. But I thought the picture fitted the quote reasonably well, especially with the people walking across the field.
A previous existence as a military parachutist helped Patrick Baty on this project. The 185ft bridge had to be scaled at night, when the trains had stopped running, in order for paint samples to be taken.

He was able to establish that this famous bridge by Isambard Kingdom Brunel had originally been painted with a white “anti-corrosive” paint containing ground glass. The bridge had been painted twenty times and with a combination of physical and documentary analysis Patrick was able to work out how it looked since it was built in 1859.

This fossil dunes here are 100% natural rock formations. They come into existence the same way as sand dunes – thanks to sand-laden winds that flow over a very long period of time. The sand, in the case of fossil dunes, is infused with calcium carbonate. This is why it gets hardened over time and takes the form of abstract natural sculpture.
They look like dancing dunes 😉
The site of Al Wathba Fossil Dunes has been a popular spot among Hollywood filmmakers. Several movies, including the famed Six Underground and Star Wars: The Force Awakens feature these dunes.
