Capernaum:
Also known as Tell Hum, Khirbet Karazeh, Bethsaida, Capharnaum, Chorazin, Kefar Nahum, Kafarnaum, Kefar Tanhum, Talhum, Tanhum
In existence from the 2nd c. B.C. to the 7th c. A.D., Capernaum was built along the edge of the Sea of Galilee and had up to 1500 residents.
Today the ruins are owned by two churches: the Franciscans control the western portion with the synagogue and the Greek Orthodox’s property is marked by the white church with red domes.
Jesus made Capernaum his home during the years of his ministry: “Leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum” (Matt 4:13).
Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen living in the village. Matthew the tax collector also dwelt here.
Capernaum is one of the three cities cursed by Jesus for its lack of faith.
The Synagogue
The dating of this synagogue is debated, but it is clearly later than the first century. Excavations have revealed a synagogue from the time of Jesus with walls made of worked stone and 4 feet thick.
These earlier walls were preserved up to 3 feet high and the entire western wall still exists and was used as the foundation for the later synagogue.
Jesus was confronted by a demoniac while teaching here (Mark 1:21-27).
In Capernaum, Jesus healed the servant of the centurion. This Roman official was credited with building the synagogue (Luke 7:3).
In this synagogue, Jesus gave sermon on the bread of life (John 6:35-59).
The House of Peter
Excavations revealed one residence that stood out from the others. This house was the object of early Christian attention with 2nd century graffiti and a 4th century house church built above it. In the 5th century a large octagonal Byzantine church was erected above this, complete with a baptistery. Pilgrims referred to this as the house of the ap

The Athlone 10KM and 5KM road races were held in Clonown Village, Co. Roscommon, Ireland on Sunday 28th of April 2013 at 14:30 and 15:00. Clonown is a small townland on the west bank of the River Shannon and is situated about 3 miles south of the town of Athlone. Whilst the townland is almost completely rural it is accessed easily from major routes and towns by the M6 motorway.
This race completely defied the fact that it is only the second year of it's existence. Every aspect of the organisation was professional: from stewarting, registration, start of races exactly on time, car-parking, and post race refreshments. The 10KM route followed an anti-clockwise loop. The race started on the L2035 Togher Road (about 100m from Clonown Centre) and heads towards the old Ballinasloe Rd and back via Creggan with the finish at the Clonown Community Centre. The 5KM run was added this year to provide a managable challenge for people who are following programmes such as Operation Transformation. The 5KM race route follows a meandering around the townland. The race starts at the church in Clonown and head clockwise around the Ballinaculla townland which offers lovely views of the River Shannon. The route then goes to the Drumlosh road and runs for 1.5 km before the roundabout which is the 3km mark. The race then turns around and returns back to the village and finish at Clonown Community Centre. Both races share some of the race route for the Flatline Athlone Half held in September (www.athlonehalfmarathon.com/) which makes the race routes very fast and flat.
Overall Race Summary
Participants: Approximately 400 people took part in both events with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.
Weather: This was a wonderfully bright dry afternoon but a very strong wind made difficult running conditions in places.
Course: Very flat accurately measured course on rural roads and bog roadway. There were waterstops provided at various points and by locals along the route. Very well stewarded.
Refreshments: There were lots of refreshments served in the community center aftwards.
Location Map: This is the start/finish area on Google StreetView [goo.gl/maps/W0Hxc]

How can I get a full resolution copy of these photographs?
All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, Google Orkut etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. This also means the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a wall post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.
In summary please remember - all we ask is for you to link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc.
I ran the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set!
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
If you want to contribute something for these images?
We do not charge for these images. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the image(s) you request are good enough that you would ordinarily pay for their purchase we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible.
Blackford Station has been all but wiped from existence, along with Blackford House. Only the farmhouse survives now, nearest on the right-hand side. On the EdinPhoto website is a view from the bridge at Blackford Avenue in 1958. A selection of platform-level views from 1961 are shown in Alexander MacLean's The Edinburgh Suburban & South Side Junction Railway book.
As seen from contemporary maps, the station booking hall and inner circle waiting rooms were between the farmhouse and the road bridge, and directly opposite the current small wooden steps; the outer circle waiting room was directly opposite the farmhouse, roughly where the silver car is parked. As early as 1954 revenue was falling in relation to operating costs, and the station closed in 1962; by 1970 all trace had gone.

History of Kraków
First indications of the existence of Krakow approximately stem from the 7th century. In the next following centuries the tribe of Vistulans (Wislanie) populated Krakow, after they centuries ago in the as "Lesser Poland" or Malopolska known region had settled down. From the year 965 stems the first document from Krakow, as Abraham ben Jacob of Cordova, a Jewish merchant, in his book referred to the trading center of Krakow.
In 1000, the Diocese of Krakow was founded and in 1038 declared capital of the Piast dynasty. The Wawel castle and several churches were built in the 11th century and thus the town rapidly grew. 1241 the Mongols invaded the city and burned down Krakow without exception. 1138 Krakow became the seat of the senior prince. 1257 Kraków was awarded its town charter and a city map was drawn up, which remained until today. This one included the arrangement of the checkerboard street configuration with a centrally located market. On the market following the seat of the city government was built. From the historical trading functions until today only the Cloth Halls remained. But on the market not only trade agreements were closed but also courtly and urban festivities celebrated. Furthermore, the urban center served for executions. The defensive walls were built, which surrounded the city and linked it to the Wawel. In the south of Wawel Castle in 1335 the city of Kazimierz was created. By Royal command it was surrounded by defense walls and the churches of St. Catherine, of Corpus Christi and the "Na Skalce" were built. End of the 15th century, Jews settled the later Cracow district. 1364 the Cracow Academy of King Kazimierz Wielki was founded, the famous Polish Jagellonen-University.
With the last king of Jagellonian dynasty, Krakow flourished. The Wawel castle was rebuilt in Renaissance style, the well known Zygmunt chapel was built and the Cloth Halls as well as the patrician houses have been restored. During the reign of King Sigismund III. Vasa the baroque style received introduction in Krakow. The Baroque University Church of St. Anne and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul were built in this period. In 1607 Warsaw was declared headquarters of the King, but Krakow retained its title of the Royal capital. Furthermore, it remained the place of coronations and funerals. Middle of the 17th century, the city was devastated by the Swedes, what at the beginning of the 18th century was produced again.
After the first partition of Poland, Krakow became a frontier town. Austria declared the settlement Podgorze separated city. After the second division in 1794, began the Polish national uprising. After its decline and the third partition of Poland the town fell to the Austrians, which on Wawel Hill caused numerous devastations and adapted buildings to the wishes and needs of the Army. 1809 Cracow was affiliated to the Grand Duchy of Warsaw. After the defeat of Napoleon, Krakow in the Vienna Convention of 1815 was declared Free City of Kraków. Then the remains of folk hero Tadeusz Kosciuszko and of Prince Jozef Poniatowski were brought back to the city. 1820-1823 on the rise of St. Bronislava a hill in honor of the leader of the popular uprising was built. Instead of the city walls, which were largely destroyed, they laid out supporting beams. 1846 Krakow lost its independence and the Austrians erected again on the Wawel barracks and they surrounded the Wawel with fortification complexes. However, Austria but has proved less tyrannical and so the city enjoyed a certain degree of growing cultural and political freedom. 1918 Krakow became the independence back.
Before the outbreak of the Second World War, in Krakow lived about 260,000 inhabitants, of which 65,000 belonged to the Jewish religion. During the war, also Krakow became witness of German war crimes. The for the greater part Jewish district of Kazimierz was eradicated. The Jews from now on lived in ghettos where they either were deported from there to Auschwitz or immediately shot. In spite of the plundering of the Nazis, Krakow became no scene for military combat operations and thus the only large Polish town escaping this fate. Therefore, its old architecture still almost completely is intact.
After the surrender of Germany and the Polish liberation, hastened the Communist government to inspire the traditional life and the city with a large steel plant in Nowa Huta. But the intensive rebuilding of the economy and industry rather promoted an ecological disaster. Buildings that had survived the war undamaged were now devoured and destroyed by acid rain and toxic gases. Carbon dioxide emissions grew so powerful that this has remained a serious and grave problem of the city. After the fall of the Communists and the fall of the Iron Curtain Krakow has benefited greatly from tourism and has adapted itself to a large extent to the Western culture.
The statue has 31 storeys, prepresenting the 31 planes of existence. The multi-storey torso reads as if you were reading Dante's Divine Comedy; as you ascend each floor you seemingly climb your way from 'hell' to 'nirvana.' But unlike climbing to the top of the cupola of St. Peter's Basilica, there is no promise of your sins being forgiven when you reach the top. In fact, when I reached the top floor I was drenched in sweat and vying with the other visitiors for space beneath the few oscillating fans that provided meager relief on the hot day.
For the first time in six years of existence, the P1 AquaX was hosting a World Championship event sanctioned by IJSBA and it happened in Key West, Florida December 9th and 10th 2017. Since the Thailand King's Cup was being held at the same time, only 18 of the 25 pilots that made the selection were racing this week end. Nevertheless, Key West was a beautiful destination to race, every morning brought a different colour of sunrise and the ever changing blue hues of the water made this race memorable. After marine and storm delays, day one was hard for David Chassier after experiencing mechanical problems. Day two was a little better even if the Yamaha FX SVHO was barely taking 7000 rpm, the French pilot from Blois managed to finish 12 and 13, which placed him 15 overall. A big thank you to Barefoot Billy's Jet Ski Rental that helped us train the first days in Key West as well as Redler's family that gave us assistance and support during the race. Congratulation to our friend Nicolas Rius on landing a 3rd place overall despite a bad shoulder injury and we wish him the best recovery so he can be back a the top for 2018. This was the last race of the season, see you next year :)

Drill halls came into existence following the formation of large numbers of rifle and artillery volunteer groups in 1859/60. These militia required a large, open space within which to practice, as well as secure storage for weapons. Given that they were expected to train for between 21 and 56 days during the summer, and given the often inclement nature of British weather, it was generally felt that a covered area for drilling would be preferable to the use of an outdoor space.
Although many of the earlier volunteer groups made use of existing buildings such as village halls, adapting them to their needs, a purpose built drill hall was considered the most desirable option. Drill halls therefore began to emerge as a distinct building type which, although no two are identical, may be considered to have three essential elements:
▪︎Firstly - administrative rooms such as offices, stores and an armoury.
▪︎Secondly - the large, open training area of the hall and associated target range.
▪︎Thirdly - accommodation for the caretaker or drill instructor.
In addition to these three basic elements may be a number of optional extras in the form of social space. In an early drill hall the social spaces of the building were often extensive – drill halls, during the early decades of their existence, were seen as exclusive military clubs and therefore the building often served as a social centre as well as a military establishment.
The York Road drill hall in Great Yarmouth was designed in 1867 by J.T. Bottle as the base for the 2nd Volunteer Battalion Norfolk Regiment. The 1912 edition of Kelly’s Directory of Norfolk includes the following description of the building:
▪︎The Drill Hall of the Great Yarmouth rifle detachment of the Territorial Force, erected in 1867, on the York Road, covers a space of ground 147 feet in length by 65 feet in width, the large hall is roofed in one span with elliptic ribs, and is lighted chiefly by a skylight at the apex of the roof.
The building comprises of a residential block, the drill hall and the rear block containing offices and store rooms. The front of the building is of the Gothic revival style with a facing of uncoursed knapped flint with dressings of red brick, yellow brick and ashlar. The interior of the hall have curved laminated trusses and a simple frame with projecting arrow-shaped finials. The use of gilding would have further enhanced the interior's design. Although the drill hall was constructed for a rifle division there appears to be no firing range. It is possible that an external range was used and the only space nearby of a suitable size is St Peter's Plain to the south. The hall was designated as a Grade II listed building in January 2010.
Seachange Arts have received a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a project to celebrate and explore the historic York Road Drill Hall in its 150th year. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project, ''Drill House 150'' focuses on the history of the building in both its military and community roles. Drill House 150 explores people’s memories of the building as a social hub and military centre. It will also seek to uncover its role in the defence of Great Yarmouth and some of its architectural secrets.
Over the years, the Drill House has housed concerts, marching bands and became a community sports hall before Seachange Arts acquired the building in 2012. The main hall has recently undergone a major refurbishment to turn it into an international circus and street arts centre. The Drill House – Celebrating 150 years project will work with local people, schools, historians, performers and artists over its course with material collected added to the Great Yarmouth Library and Time and Tide Museum’s archives.

ANN PARKER MAUST
Left this worldly existence in the presence of friends and family on February 19,2015, her 43rd wedding anniversary. She had battled cancer for more than a year; but did not suffer the pain or most other consequences of the disease. Throughout her battle she exhibited the strength and grace that were the hallmarks of her life.
Ann was born Arcadia, FL where she lived in an orange grove owned by her parents who also ran a general store and a dress shop. She treasured her childhood with the family values, work ethic and diversity that it provided-
Ann was graduated with a B.A in economics from UNC in Chapel Hill, followed by two UNC master's degrees. She then relocated to Washington, D.C. to work for the Library of Congress. AARP and several private research organizations. Ann later earned a Ph.D. in research methods from Virginia Tech, which led to starting her own firm, Research Dimensions, lnc. (RDI), to provide research for federal and state government agencies, as well as private clients such as the College Board, the Ford Foundation. and many smaller groups.

Of the twenty-seven Tribal class destroyers built before and during the Second World War, HMCS Haida is the only one still in existence.
Named after the Haida First Nation of British Columbia, HMCS Haida is now a living memorial to all who served in the Royal Canadian Navy.
HMCS Haida earned the title of ‘Canada’s most fightingest ship’ because she sank more enemy naval and merchant vessels than any other Allied warship. The HMCS Haida became famous for its role in the destruction of several German ships. Between April and September 1944 alone, it sank nine enemy ships. In total, the Haida helped sink 14 ships during the Second World War.
The Tribals were designed to fight heavily armed destroyers of other navies, such as the Japanese Fubuki class.[5] Canada chose the design based on its armament, with the size and power of the Tribal class allowing them to act more like small cruisers than as fleet destroyers.[6] Haida was among the first batch of Tribal-class destroyers ordered by the RCN in 1940–1941. They were ordered with modified ventilation and heating systems for North Atlantic winter service. Haida's design was modified after deficiencies were noted in the lead ship of the Canadian Tribals, HMCS Iroquois.
Haida, as one of the British-built Tribal-class destroyers, was 335 feet 6 inches (102.26 m) long between perpendiculars and 377 feet (115 m) long overall with a beam of 36 feet 6 inches (11.13 m) and a draught of 13 feet (4.0 m). As built, the destroyer displaced 1,927 long tons (1,958 t) standard and 2,745 long tons (2,789 t) at deep load.[5][7] Haida had a complement of 14 officers and 245 ratings.[7]
The destroyer was propelled by two shafts driven by two Parsons geared turbines powered by steam created by three Admiralty-type three drum boilers. This created 44,000 shaft horsepower (32,811 kW) and gave the ship a maximum speed of 36.5 knots (67.6 km/h; 42.0 mph). The destroyers could carry 505–516 long tons (513–524 t) of fuel oil.[5]
As built, Haida was fitted with six quick-firing 4.7-inch (119 mm) Mk XII guns placed in three twin turrets, designated 'A', 'B' and 'Y' from bow to stern.[note 1] The turrets were placed on 40° mountings with open-backed shields.[5] The ship also had one twin turret of QF 4-inch (102 mm) Mk XVI guns in the 'X' position.[5][7] For secondary anti-aircraft armament, the destroyer was equipped with four single-mounted 2-pounder "pom-pom" guns. The vessel was also fitted with four 21-inch (533 mm) torpedo tubes for Mk IX
Torpedoes.
"Y " turret was completely removed and replaced by two Squid anti-submarine mortar mounts ( 3 mortars each) placed on the quarterdeck just before it was decommissioned in 1963. They lobbed a 500 lb depth charge bomb each at a measured distance from the ship to Kill Submarines.

Timgharine on the path of Existence
-------------------------------------------------
Timgharine is the amazigh (native language in Morocco) word for women.
Photo taken during a survey in a village in the south of Morocco (El Maader, in the region of Tiznit, 90 km to the South of Agadir).
Those people are one of the most conservative people in Morocco and needless to say, you can’t dwell taking pictures of women (or people just like that). I was taking a break when I saw three women in their traditional outfit returning back to their village… I said to myself “I have to try a B&W picture”, in the mean time I was trying not to be noticed while taking the picture.
This picture so much reflects the life of these people whom have conserved their traditions in their struggle with life in a poor and resource-less environment.
