The star of the show (for me) is that lovely grubby, oily BSA Golden Flash with a double adult sidecar, the bike is a picture, the kickstart spring has broken and the kickstart hangs down inches from the road, the seat has a home made cover and the luxury of a handlebar grip is missing from the clutch side. This is how old bikes should look, not pampered trailer queens as we see only too often today.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

West Coast, NEW ZEALAND
One of the new images I released this week is a photo called “Existence”. It’s an abstract seascape that I’ve been meaning to shoot for years but the specific lighting conditions and type of beach needed to realize my vision had never materialized previously. This particular beach on the wild west coast of New Zealand has many more interesting and unique features than the elements you see in the photo and I brought my workshop participants here for these reasons.
As I had already photographed this location many times, I turned my attention towards a more ‘boring’ section of the beach. The way the waves rear up and collapse on the pebbles has always been of interest to me and I wanted to capture this action with an appropriate shutter speed.

With NS rebuilding all of their standard cab SD70s, the only ones that, for the moment, will be in existence are the 36 remaining on CN's roster. Despite these units being fairly illusive, there's currently a dozen or so (the majority still being in IC paint) currently assigned to the Kirk pool. Mostly being used on various transfers in and around Chicagoland (such as these two heading west to Joliet with L521), these units have been drawing the attention of rail fans from all over the midwest. According to various rumors floating around the company, these units will likely be dispersed once all of the new units CN has ordered arrive on the property, but only time will tell what will happen to them in the coming months.
St. Patrick's Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church in San Francisco, California, founded in 1851. It is located at 756 Mission Street, between 3rd and 4th streets, across the street from Yerba Buena Gardens in the heart of the South of Market district.
The old church is still exist boldly after 160 years with the background of much newer high-rise.

Main story

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

The existence of the site is mentioned in Rapporten van de Oudheidkundige Dienst (ROD, "Report of the Department of Antiquities") in 1914. The Dutch historian N. J. Krom also mentioned it in 1949. In those ancient times so much decried in our days, the rigors of earthly existence, including the wickedness of men, were on the whole accepted as an inexorable fatality, and their abolition was with good reason believed to be impossible; in the midst of the trials of life, those of the hereafter were not forgotten, and it was admitted moreover that man needs suffering as well as pleasure here below and that a collectivity cannot maintain itself in the fear of God and in piety by contact with nothing but the agreeable; such was the thinking of the elite at all levels of society. In reality modern civilization gives in order to take: it gives the world but takes away God; and it is this that compromises even its gift of the world.
In our day there is a stronger tendency than ever to reduce
happiness to the level of economic well-being—which is moreover insatiable in the face of an indefinite creation of artificial needs and a base mystique of envy—but what is completely lost sight of when this outlook is projected into the past is that a traditional craft and a contact with nature and natural things are factors essential to human happiness. Now these are just the factors that disappear in industry, which demands all too often, if not always, an inhuman environment and “quasi-abstract” manipulations, gestures with no intelligibility and no soul, all in an atmosphere of frigid cunning; we have arrived beyond all possibility of argument at the antipodes of what the Gospel means when it enjoins us to “become as little children” and to “take no thought for the morrow”. The machine transposes the need for happiness onto a purely quantitative plane, having no relation to the spiritual quality of work; it takes away from the world its homogeneity and transparency and cuts men off from the meaning of life. More and more we attempt to reduce our intelligence to what the machine demands and our capacity for happiness to what it offers; since we cannot humanize the machine, we are obliged, by a certain logic at least, to mechanize man; having lost contact with the human, we stipulate what man is and what happiness is.

When existence starts, life provides us all with an empty bag - just waiting to be filled. We value it with a great sense of duty when we carry it around because unconsciously, we understand the importance of its content. And so, over time, it begins to define who we are and who everyone thinks to be.
While we are creating the plot of this customized story, we already assess its value.
We treat it with the utmost caution as we are aware of the risk we take when revealing its content. But living frequently means that one day the concealing is doomed to failure. And eventually, a reflection of this fragile inside - what forms us, you and me - sees the light of day.
Often, it is this exposure that we fear the most. We tend to uglify the experiences that made us who we are. But in the course of a lifetime, no one is safe from getting scratched. Yet we feel ashamed for parts of our identity.
And though it is our unique narrative, we like to sell it at less than fair value.
In the end, the extraordinary beauty of life consistently lies in the unexpected. Hence, it might be that the value of our imperfection caused us to find common ground in the first place.

Fits my mood right about now
In another existence, just outside our own, is the forgotten city of Dingir. Its streamlined Art Deco architecture was once filled with bright colors and rich materials, meant to reflect the beginning of a new age of consciousness. Now muted and neglected, it lies somewhere between our dreams and reality.
Dingir served as a crossroads between the human-bound Dreamers and the entities that would become humans. These creatures were known as “Those Who See and Observe”.
They entered Dreamers’ subconscious and helped guide them along on their path. However, there were some Dreamers that became too strong and aware, which gave them the ability to reach through the barrier between worlds, causing chaos and irreparable damage to Dingir, and places like it.

Description: Planetary Nebulae represent the late evolutionary stage of low to intermediate mass stars. As these stars reach the final stage of their existence they enter the AGB (asymptotic giant branch) phase. As early AGB stars they begin to lose mass through dense but slow winds. This phase is followed by more profound mass lose through tenuous fast winds or superwind phase. The dynamic interaction between fast and slow winds ultimately forms the complex shell structure of Planetary Nebulae.
M97, more popularly known as the "Owl Nebula" is an older planetary nebula (PN) with a circular morphology and a bland inner structure. It is one of about 1600 planetary nebulae discovered in the Milky Way. The Milky Way has an estimated population of about 10,000 planetary nebulae. The low number is due to the brief time they exist, less than 50,000 years. M97 is at a fairly advanced stage as the superwind from the central star has long since ceased. M97 has a triple shell structure consisting of a round double shell comprising the main optical nebula and a faint bow-shaped outer shell which is very faint. The outer halo formed from material ejected thousands of years ago during the dying stars red giant phase. It continues to interact with the surrounding interstellar medium as the PN moves through space. The central star is a hot dead cinder of about 0.6 solar masses which produces abundant radiation from its 110,000 degree surface temperature.
Astronomers have had increasing success at building three dimensional models of planetary nebulae from two dimensional data. The models are based however on three assumptions: 1) material in the nebula moves exclusively in radial directions 2) each shell is ejected at different time epochs 3) each shell is composed of sub-shells that expand with velocities proportional to their distance from the center. The double shell of the main nebula is about 1.3 light years in diameter and has an expansion velocity of 40 kilometers/second. The inner shell is slightly elongated and the outer shell is round. The outer halo is bow shaped and has no measurable expansion velocity.
There are two distinguishing features of the Owl Nebula. The first is the presence of a central bipolar cavity excavated by the superwind of the central star. The second peculiar feature is the lack of a bright rim. The superwind that carved out the central cavity has since ceased allowing nebula material to backfill the cavity and smear out any bright rim that previously existed. The higher density of the material along the rim of the cavity is responsible for producing the forehead and beak of the owl. The bipolar cavity forms the characteristic eyes of the owl.
A reasonable conjecture regarding the evolutionary history of M97 begins in the early ABG phase of the dying star. The first event was the early slow wind which plowed into the interstellar medium forming the outer halo. During later stages of the ABG phase high mass loss occurred in the superwind phase which formed the main body of the planetary nebula. (Text: www.robgendlerastropics.com/M97text.html)

it's very seldom for me to see a leaf thats turned red here in manila. i found this in the parking lot of a restaurant the other day. i had to just pick it up and bring home for it's first photo op. this is the top side of the leaf and the inside is the one posted in the comment box. have a great start of the week!

An old mining operation with some rather interesting large-scale guerilla art, perched up in the hills in the Mojave Desert. I lit the exterior and interior of this structure using a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device from several different angles while hanging out with the ProtoMachines creator, George Loo, as well as Tim Little and Steve McIntyre during a fun weekend of night photography.

San Miguel de Lillo s. IX, ciudad de Oviedo, Principado de Asturias.
Ascendiendo por la ladera del monte Naranco y a unos doscientos metros de Santa María se eleva San Miguel de Lillo. Formaba parte, junto con ésta, de un supuesto conjunto palatino en el que también se incluirían toda una serie de pabellones construídos en materiales perecederos y que hoy día no se conservan. Su advocación, constatada desde el año 908, vincula el templo con el culto al arcángel San Miguel que estaba presente en la Península Ibérica desde finales del siglo VII.
La estructura original estaba compuesta por una planta rectangular de tres naves, la central más ancha y alta que las laterales, una cabecera tripartita y a los pies del templo, un vestíbulo, la tribuna real, escaleras y varias dependencias. Se especula acerca de la posible existencia de dos estructuras a los lados simulando el aspecto de transepto pero todavía no esta demostrado.
Actualmente sólo se mantiene en pie una tercera parte del edificio original porque en fechas anteriores a 1115 sufrió un derrumbamiento que acabó con su triple ábside y tres tramos de la nave. Según las crónicas, las causantes de este hecho fueron sus elevadas bóvedas y las aguas de un arroyo cercano que socavaron los cimientos.
Tras el hundimiento, el ara fue trasladada al mirador oriental de Santa María y transcurrido un periodo indeterminado de tiempo, los restos que permanecieron en pie fueron cerrados con un muro bastante chapucero de materiales reaprovechados del derrumbe y se construye una capilla rectangular con una tosca bóveda de cañón para volver a dotar al edificio de uso litúrgico.
Las cubiertas de las naves que han llegado hasta nosotros adoptan una configuración peculiar. La bóveda que recubre la nave central sigue un eje oeste-este mientras que las laterales se colocan perpendiculares al mismo, es decir, de norte a sur. La gran altura a la que están dispuestas (11 metros la central y 8 las laterales) condiciona el uso de un material ligero para su construcción. Se recurre por ello a la piedra toba como ya se hizo en Santa María del Naranco.
La separación de las naves se lleva a cabo a través de gruesas columnas y no de pilares, caso insólito en la arquitectura asturiana. Sobre éstas se asientan unas arquerías de medio punto con roscas sogueadas y por encima, continúa la pared maciza hasta alcanzar la bóveda, que es reforzada con arcos fajones. Los capiteles son de forma cubicatroncocónica y las basas se caracterizan por estar decoradas con las figuras de los cuatro evangelistas y su símbolo zoomórfico.
Sin lugar a dudas, uno de los elementos más complejos de la construcción es su vestíbulo, sobre el que se emplaza la tribuna real. A diferencia de los realizados en el periodo de Alfonso II, éste introduce gran parte de su volumen dentro del edificio en vez de configurarse como una estructura saliente diferenciada. Se cubre con bóveda de cañón. Las jambas de la puerta son dos grandes piezas monolíticas de piedra cuyo mayor interés reside en los relieves con los que se decoran. Son reproducciones de un díptico de marfil tardorromano datado en el 506. En él se mostraba al cónsul Areobindus inaugurando unos juegos circenses. Con seguridad el monarca poseía una copia que hoy día no se conserva. Su uso como modelo se ha interpretado como signo del poder real.
La tribuna regia evoluciona con respecto a la vista en San Julián. No se coloca en uno de los lados del transepto sino en un nivel superior al vestíbulo y centrado sobre el eje longitudinal de la nave central. Se cubre con bóveda de cañón. Tiene dos puertas con arcos de medio punto a cada lado que la comunican con las escaleras de acceso y una estancia lateral. La ventana abierta en el muro para iluminar el recinto está cubierta con una celosía, realizada en una gran losa de piedra, que presenta un calado minucioso y preciosista.
El templo estaba decorado interiormente con pinturas al fresco. Los motivos son tanto geométricos (hexágonos y círculos, ya vistos también en Santullano) como humanos. Estos últimos revisten mayor interés porque no los volveremos a encontrar después de la etapa ramirense. Las figuras que aparecen son hieráticas, antinaturalistas y desproporcionadas. Dominan los colores rojo, amarillo y verde.

Currently only a third of the original building is still standing because dates before 1115 suffered a collapse that ended his triple apse and three sections of the ship. According to the chronicles , the cause for this were its high vaults and the waters of a nearby stream that undermined the foundations .
After the collapse , the altar was moved to the eastern viewpoint of Santa Maria and after an undetermined period of time , the remnants that remained standing were closed with a rather sloppy wall reclaimed materials collapse and a rectangular chapel is built with a rough dome cannon to return to give the building liturgical use .
The decks of the ships that have reached us adopt a peculiar configuration . The dome that covers the nave follows a west-east axis while the side are placed perpendicular to it , ie , from north to south. It relies therefore on the tufa stone as was done in Saint Saviour Cathedral .

Unlike those made in the period of Alfonso II , this introduces much of its volume within the building rather than as a distinct protrusion configured structure. It is covered with a barrel vault. The temple was decorated inside with frescoes. The reasons are both geometric ( hexagons and circles , as also seen in Santullano ) as humans. The latter are of interest because they do not meet again after Ramirense stage. Figures shown are hieratic , anti-naturalistic and disproportionate . Dominate the red, yellow and green.
Thick mist envelopes the woodland, moisture drips from the bare branches, and I find a small colony of mosses and fungi .
