Based heavily on the ISD Scale USS Excelsior I've seen on Brickshelf by Primus/Brickcommander. I thought I'd build it in the flesh, unfortunately my stock in light grey bricks is lacking in a few areas as can be seen but overall I quite like this little ship. Length is approx 39 studs. Credit to Primus/Brick commander for original designs and very handy step by step instructions. Overall it was fairly simple and a lot of fun to build, you have a lot of freedom to customise the nacelles, saucer and engineering hull which makes it great
Excelsior Geyser Crater, formerly known as Excelsior Geyser, is a hot spring in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States. Excelsior was named by the Hayden Geological Survey of 1871.[4] Possibly the only known photograph of Excelsior in full eruption was taken by Frank Jay Haynes in 1888.[5]
Although normally based at Bournemouth, the Volvo B12 deckers used to visit the Portsmouth depot quite regularly to carry the Royal Marine Band
Bedford YNV / Plaxton Paramount II C53F. After buying Quests, 1985 saw Excelsior take delivery of a fleet of 17 Volvo/Paramount low-driver coaches supplemented by a couple of Bedford YNV coaches. Here, the pair are seen together at the Epsom Derby in June 1986. They differed from the Volvos by having standard driving positions.
Canon 60D with Canon 70-210mm FD. River Oich. The water was so calm this day, the reflections were amazin.
I am way behind my peers. They have focused and got so good results in work and study. Need to get back and excelsior.

Excelsior Brigade
70th, 71st, 72nd, 73rd & 74th
New York Volunteer Infantry Regiments
Daniel Sickles raised this brigade of five regiments early in 1861. The regiments were raised directly under the authority of War Department and included companies from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Michigan. In December of 1861 they were redesignated as New York regiments and assigned their numbers.
Sickles commanded the brigade at Seven Pines and during the Seven Days battles. By the time of the Battle of Gettysburg he had been promoted to corps command, but the Excelsior Brigade would always be connected to its controversial commander.
The Excelsior Brigade was commanded at the Battle of Gettysburg by Colonel William R. Brewster of the 73rd New York. He was senior colonel of the brigade and took command after Brigadier General Joseph Revere was court-martialled and dismissed for withdrawing the brigade without orders after the Battle of Chancellorsville.
It's that time of year when I put the camera away and get the scanner back out. This winter I will be scanning some Excelsior of Bournemouth stuff from the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s. Here are some of the coaches seen at the Bournemouth depot in July 1993.

Mercedes 811D / Reebur C29F. One of 4 such machines, F485WFX later ran for Chivers, Elstead. It is seen at the Bournemouth depot in April 1991.
Portion of Excelsior Geyser in Midway Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park. Excelsior Geyser was active until 1890 and often erupted to over 300 feet high. Its powerful eruptions apparently damaged its internal plumbing, and it now boils as a hot spring most of the time.
Dennis Javelin / Plaxton Paramount. Perhaps landersreach can explain why out of nowhere Excelsior of Bournemouth purchased a solitary Dennis Javelin in 1991. It wasn't even registered in Dorset which may tell another story. H292KPK is seen at the excellent-placed Bournemouth depot (if arriving by train...) in July 1991.
