It's that time of year when I put the camera away and get the scanner back out. This winter I will be scanning some Excelsior of Bournemouth stuff from the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s. Here are some of the coaches seen at the Bournemouth depot in April 1991.
Ladies Day at Royal Ascot always attracts a good number of visiting coaches with 2019 proving to be no exception. Examples of bodywork by Berkhof, Beulas, BMC, Bova, Caetano, Higer, Irizar, Jonckheere, Kassbohrer, King Long, Lahden, Marcopolo, Mercedes-Benz, Mobipeople, Neoplan, Plaxton, Scania, Setra, Sunsundegui, Temsa, Unvi, VDL, Van Hool, Volvo and Yutong kept the camera busy. My shots were taken in and around the various coach parks used on the Thursday.

The 1982 Motor Show was held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on 20 to 31 October. Exhibited on the DAF stand was BLJ700Y, a DAF SB2300 fitted with the new Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodywork. It had 46 seats and a toilet and was destined for Excelsior, Bournemouth.
With nothing better to do I went to check the weeds on my favourite M3 motorway bridge and blimey all these coaches came past! A nice variety of makes and models in amongst the several thousand anonymous white Tourismos that I chose largely to ignore. And the Levante 3s too.

Quest 80VM / Plaxton Paramount I C53F. One of my earliest shots taken in June 1984 when the coach was only a few months old. The Excelsior Quest saga is a well known story and they didn't survive long with their original owner, so I'm pleased I managed to photo one myself.

The 1984 Motor Show was held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on 19-28 October. A strike leading up to the Show prevented Plaxton from showing its new models for 1985. One of the coaches exhbited on the Plaxton stand was Excelsior, Bournemouth XEL24, the first Plaxron Paeamount 4000 double decker on a Neoplan 722 underframe.

Great Whipsnade Railway's Kerr Stuart 0.4.2ST 'Excelsior' leaves Whipsnade Central with the 3 o'clock trip around the park. The locomotive is in excellent condition, although hardly overworked!
