A Lotus Excel on show at the Footman James classic car and sportscar show at the NEC in Birmingham 2012.
Details of the painted chassis:- The front corner looking up from the bottom. This was the most difficult part to get into and clean.
A lot of work was put into the cleaning up of the chassis. It was pressure washed twice, Jiffex used to remove the oil, the galvansing was starting to suffer from oxidation, so this was removed by scraping, and wire brushes in an angle grinder etc.
After cleaning, the chassis was found to be in excellent condition.
2 coats of Galvafroid were applied before painting (10 Dec 2005) and lacquering. The galvansied chassis, now has 2 coats of galvafroid, and a complete paint system, so should last and last. (54)

This is Gano Excel Crown Diamond Robert Hollis, Gano Excel North America CEO Joven Cabasag, and me (I would be their apprentice) in 2010.
An astounding day at the Excel London celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who. If only I had a TARDIS of my own to do it all again...
New wheel bearings were fitted into all the brake discs.
The front brake disc and front hub.
After so much preparation work it is nice to be able to start to put the car back together.
I was most surprised at just easy I was able to locate the discs. Pat at C & P Motors asked one of their suppliers to part match the old brakes, and the next day, the new
discs arrived.
I have been able to replace all the consumables on the suspension, so the car should be as good as new.
At least it is possible to fairly easily obtain all the parts that I require at sensible prices,a nd fairly easily will this situation change in years to come???
