As part of a character design I design the clothes the character will wear. These photos are examples of the clothing I have sewn.
Built starting in 1900 BC by members of the Minoan civilization, rebuilt around 1650 BC, and abandoned around 1350 BC, this palace stands on a site that had been home to a human settlement since around 9000 BC. The palace was an administrative center and royal residence, and is the largest known Minoan palace, which covers five acres, of which three acres are covered by the main building in the complex, with a large central courtyard for public ceremonies, a monumental staircase, a theater, and workshops for skilled craftsmen. The base of the palace was built of stone, with unbaked bricks, tapered wooden columns, and timber beams comprising the upper portion of the structure, some of which was reconstructed as part of the archaeological excavations at the site. Evidence at the site and other Minoan palaces suggests that the palace possibly came under the rule of Mycenaeans from Mainland Greece around 1450 BC, and the palace remained in use for about another century until it was destroyed by fire, of which the cause is not known. The town of Knossos continued to exist during the subsequent Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine periods, finally being supplanted by the modern-day city of Heraklion after it was founded by Arab rulers of Crete in the 800s AD. The ruins sat forgotten until 1877, when excavations began under Minos Kalokairinos. Further excavations were carried out by Sir Arthur Evans between 1900 and 1930, which uncovered many artifacts, examples of ancient writing, and evidence of the site’s history. Parts of the palace were reconstructed after the excavations. Today, the Minoan Palace at Knossos is a major tourist attraction on Crete, and is one of the best-known ancient Minoan archaeological sites.
