SLEEPING IN THE FOREST

I thought the earth
remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better. ❤

Slowly showing more and more coloration, this Panther Chameleon (Furcifer pardalis) will have much more red streaking his body in about a year's time. You can already see this coloration coming in around his eyes and mouth, with light flourishes painting his legs and abdomen. He's got loads of crickets to eat before then, though--he eats over a dozen a day!
And chameleons really are quite evolved! Seemingly every facet of their being is highly specialized for survival, from their gripping, pincer like feet, to their prehensile tails, to their separately-swiveling eyes, to their color-shifting skin, to their darting tongues. Most chameleons share these incredible traits, be they tiny Leaf Chameleons (like the smallest of all, Brookesia micra, which grows to only an inch in length) or the Parson's Chameleon, which grows to over 25 inches in length, or the size of a house cat!
This panther chameleon, named Queso, lives in captivity.

Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.
This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.
The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.
In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.
While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.
I took this on Sept 10th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 58mm 15 sec f/16 ISO100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

Yes, I know about "how cute" and "who can resist?" We had her over a couple of times and she does know us. Even more, she seems to see us as part of her family. In fact, I believe that she regards herself as a "child" belonging to a family of humans. She made it perfectly clear that she has certain expectations in terms of participating in our social life, eating our kind of food - almost asking for equality and fair play. Now my question is, how does evolution work in this case? Did dogs evolve to bond with humans? Did humans develop affinity to dogs? Or, is there a process of mutual co-evolution or even co-assimilation?

Hey there flickr-friends,
how is life? Anything new?
Today I sat at my PC and thought, that it's absolutely time to upload a new picture. A picture that reflects my current evolutionary state of light painting. A picture with depth. A picture with symbolism. Correspondingly these two shrooms fell towards me as I shook the virtual data-shelve of my picture collection. For me they look like being in the middle of a proliferation, in which the right shroom strives away from the left one. The latter seems to be unhappy with the situation showing a grumbly grimace, whereas the right one radiates with spirit of optimism.
Exactly this optimism I'm feeling regarding my macro photography. Thanks to the usage of flash and a close up lens new model-worlds beyond image ratios of 1:1 open up. Not that I have mastered this ratio yet though. But hey, there is always something.
To avoid neglecting my photo editing I switched from Lightroom to Capture One Pro. This of course leads to the fact, that editing and organization are completely different and I'm hardly able to keep up with treating the masses of new pictures coming in adequately. But hey, there's always something. ;)
All in all it's an exciting, challenging time, spiked with moments of frustration which even creeps into my dreams. Could you ask for more from a fulfilling hobby?

Hallo flickr-Freunde,
was macht das Leben? Irgendwelche Neuigkeiten?
Heute saß ich vor dem Rechner und dachte, dass ich wirklich mal wieder ein Bild hochladen sollte. Ein Bild, das meine aktuelle Entwicklungsstufe in der Lichtmalerie widerspiegelt. Ein Bild mit Tiefe. Ein Bild mit Symbolik. Dazu passend fielen mir diese zwei Pilze entgegen, als ich am virtuellen Datenregal meiner Bildersammlung rüttelte. Für mich wirken sie wie mitten in einer Zellteilung, bei dem der rechte Pilz vom linken davon strebt. Der linke scheint damit nicht ganz glücklich zu sein und zieht eine grummelige Grimasse, aber der rechte versprüht Aufbruchsstimmung.
Genau diese Art von Aufbruch spüre ich momentan auch bei meiner Makrofotografie. Dank Einsatz von Blitz und Nahlinse eröffnen sich ganz neue Modelwelten jenseits des Abbildungsmaßstabs von 1:1. Nicht dass ich diesen bisher gemeistert hätte, aber hey, irgendwas ist ja immer.
Damit auch die Fotobearbeitung nicht zu kurz kommt, habe ich Lightroom gegen Capture One Pro getauscht. Was wiederum dazu führt, dass Bearbeitung und Organisation ganz anders aufgebaut sind und ich kaum hinterher komme, die aktuellen Massen an neuen Bildern adäquat zu versorgen. Aber hey, irgendwas ist ja immer. ;)
Alles in allem ist es eine aufregende, herausfordernde, mit Frustmomenten gespickte neue Zeit, die sich selbst in meine Träume schleicht. Kann man mehr von einem erfüllenden Hobby verlangen?
