The Seychelles is a series of islands. They are connected only by ferries. Only Mahe has an airport. This is La Digue. The native population is only about 3000 people. Few cars are allowed on the island. People use bicycles to get around.

I found the only ox cart left on the island to go exploring with a great fun guide. That was lucky for folks on the island as the last time I rode a bike was 50 years ago and I managed somehow to hit a pedestrian on the boardwalk of a popular beach here in San Diego.

Back to this lovely island, you can see the prominent rocks that line the beaches of this chain of islands. Yes, the color of the Indian Ocean is really this color. Several of the beaches on the island have been made famous by swim suit models posing by the rocks, but more than anything it is the slow pace of life that draws visitors from all over the world.

I returned to the park where the nuthatches and chickadees will handfeed. That didn't happen on this very cold day, in fact, there were very few birds (or people) to be seen. The White-breasted Nuthatch was quite happy to stay on its snowy perch.

I get poison ivy so bad I've been hospitalized so for the first 25 years of my life I didn't venture into the woods very often and I think that is the impetuous of my love affair with nature now during the second half of my life after moving to Washington from Missouri.

I enjoy little scenes like this immensely, indeed, this was early in the hike and still I stood here, smelled the chilled air, listened to the rush of water, the grinding of stones being carried downstream. I think if everyone took the time to do this the world would be a happier place. So open your window, turn on a tap and blow this up. You're welcome. :)

Last 5 minutes of warm evening light on the Seven Sisters & coastguard cottages.

You can see where a massive 10 meter chunk of the 250ft high chalk cliff of the fourth of the seven sisters has slipped out into the English Channel earlier in the week - worst land slip here in 50 years apparently according to some.

You can also make out a few people down on the beach to give a sense of scale.

Best not to get too close to the edge up above, or to the cliff face down below unless you've always had a real yearning to be fossilised in the chalk just like an ammonite :)

Lizze must stay in the cage 6 weeks until her broken hind leg has healed.

She is getting better, she uses her leg more and more. The wound has healed and the infection is gone. She's got her "birdwatching gaze" back.

Some people chase trains and some climb ice!

Having done both I've chosen the former as my avocation, though I'd certainly give the latter a try again someday given the chance.

As I practice my hobby lensing this big Alaska Railroad SD70MAC leading a 590W work train north from Seward to Anchorage I catch some other folks practicing theirs. The man made cliffs north of Girdwood where the hillside was blasted away to widen the road and shift the railroad are popular places for climbers like this to practice their craft each winter so as to hone theirs skills near home before heading out to the wilds of Alaska's countless glaciers where the skills are needed for success....and survival!

Everyone knows that most agricultural products require the fields to change every season, meaning you need to let fields sit fallow sometimes, to rest. The same is true at the Wooden Show Tulip Farm. Every year the tulips are in a different field. They have one field that lines up particularly well with Mt. Hood, that's the field they used this year. The last time this field was used was when they shut down the whole event for Covid. It's been about 6 years since the public got to see flowers in this field.

I had the treat this year of having my son greet me there, he worked at the event this year, his first job. He is also know getting into photography, so we were shooting side by side, how neat is that?

Let me know what you think if this one, my wife liked it, which means it had tons of color (she only likes the colorful shots).
