Every major museum of modern art has a Serra. His rusty steelwork is a must-have. It's basic, bold, and very American.
The installation is an important aspect because it pushes the boundaries of the building. This massive sculpture, permanently on show at the Dia Foundation in Beacon (NY), looks like a ship. From this angle, it becomes very active, as if it's rocking the building to break free.

Every autumn I enjoy walking around with my camera looking at the fall colours. Leaves change colour in the fall, because of changes in the length of daylight and changes in temperature at night. Small leaves from a tree or bush which have the mixture of red, pink, purple, orange and yellow colours grabbed my attention. Because of being different is great, but it is hard. People know that.

Every now and then you see an image on Flickr that really impresses you. Just recently I saw two on Andy Gant's stream of two different boats. This is not my attempt to copy them, because they are unique, but to praise them. Very well done, I like what you do.
Also this is the last image that I will be posting to Flickr for at least two weeks. I have accumulated many books again and will be putting them on EBay. Book collecting is a great passion of mine but I only have enough space....Thanks to all that look at my stuff, to comment and to fav. Best regards Patrick
Every day I've been observing the changes in our sunflower plants. It is beyond grand to study the development of each flower.
I came across this link with a time lapse titled Growing Sunflowers, Seed to Flower in 83 Days. Enjoy!
I have been meaning to photograph this tree for years now. It's on the Bass Highway in northern Tasmania. Almost every time I drive past is' like "oh I should have stopped", but when you're travelling at warp speed on a divided carriageway there's no turning back.
But this time I had to turn off at the interchange just before the tree. So I stopped and walked to greet it. And I appreciated the tree up close and personal. Took some time to walk around it and wonder how grand it must have been when it was so green and alive.

Every year in Spring the Common Cranes arrive in Sweden from Spain and Germany. They have arrived to perform their mating dance. It is a spectacle I have looked forward to for years and it did not disappoint. The first two days the weather was really bad, torrential rain and low visibility and -6deg C
Cranes are monogamous and most arrive with their partners among the thousands of other birds, whooper swans, coots, grebes and geese. The call and noise of these birds is deafening but a sight to behold. Day 3 finally the weather forecast showed good weather but -15C. It was a wonderful red, orange sky, aflame with thousands of birds arriving.
They flew across the flaming sky and danced, pirouetting, bowing which helps in establishing life long bonds with existing and new partners.
When nesting, Common cranes "paint" their bodies with mud or decaying vegetation, apparently in order to blend into their nesting environment. The nest is either in or very near shallow water, often with dense shore vegetation nearby, and may be used over several years.
Mythology has it that the crane, if treated with due respect, will bring luck, success and a long life. Farmers in western Sweden have a long tradition of paying homage to the bird by mimicking its leggy gait in a ritual dance around the farmhouse.
An amazing experience despite the freezing temperatures and one that I will always remember.

One of many images we all took on a very dramatic day at Elgol and the opportunity for me to link one of my favourite U2 songs in the process...
Another weekday and it's another train ride, this time over to Nottingham for a family visit.
I was going to pack the little Sony but, at the last minute, opted to go for the 5D instead. Glad I did now because down at my local the sun was shining rather nicely for a glint shot, and what better than to shoot a few frames on the Tesco Liners while giving a cheery wave to Diana again - people will start talking!
For the record, DRS class 88 unit 88009 'Diana' hauls the 6.15am Daventry - Mossend Euroterminal Tesco container train (4S43) north through Acton Bridge station.
Hard to believe this was the same train I snapped last Friday - certainly a case of 'every little helps' this time around.
8.27am, 27th January 2020
