A exquisite night at the Sheraton Hotel Infiniti restaurant with Stonefish wines. What a fantastic wine tasting event of Australia wines, the host of the evening Peter Papanikitas, the wine maker who spent the evening meeting the guests.
The wines of the evening started with a sparkling white wine NV Hunter Valley served with a curry steamed clams, coriander and garlic bread follow by Stonefish Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Margaret River, served with sweet mango crème brulee, green tea crumb, Stonefish Chardonnay 2013 Margaret River, served with Miso glazed snow fish, pumpkin puree, pickled vegetables.
Then it was time to go onto the superb red wines Stonefish Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Blackwood Valley served with Grilled Australian Lamb chop, balsamic honey, eggplant puree the Merlot 2013 Blackwood Valley served with Roasted Duck, garlic potato puree, blue cheese sauce and my favourite Stonefish Reserve Shiraz 2010 Barossa Valley served with 48 hours short rib, roasted carrot puree.
Stonefish International was established in 2000 by Peter Papanikitas, who through a career exceeding 30 years in the industry working for large companies such as Lindemans, Penfolds and Cinzano developed a priceless level of expertise on the production and sales of high quality and value wine.
Having earlier established Estate Wine Distributors, a successful wine wholesaling company in Australia, Peter expanded his business endeavours through the development of Stonefish Wines. With a remarkable understanding and appreciation of the wine consumer market, Peter’s ultimate goal was to produce wine that exhibits all the attributes that make viticulture in Australia a global phenomenon.

This year was the biggest Fresh Event in the College's history, kicking off the new academic year in style. With students able to sign up for many enrichment activities, take part in sporting challenges like Bokwa and Boxercise, get information and advice from the 30-plus exhibitors, and of course not to mention grab armfuls of freebies too.
