Between the dirt dunes of dried twigs; and the blue-footed boobies of Isla de Plata. This Palo Santo tree, really stood out. Although it looks pretty plain Jane, has an ability to cleanse, heal and purify. After all, it is the "Holy Wood" of essential oils.
Ginger Pepper Citrus Musk Essential Oil Natural Soap
I've blended ginger, black pepper and an array of citrus essential oils including orange, lemon, lime and grapefruit to make up this essential oil delight. Those burgundy stripes you see are musk fragrance oil. The scent is wonderful together!
Here's a couple of things these essential oils have been said to help with:
Ginger oil is used in the treatment of fractures, rheumatism, arthritis, bruising, carbuncles, nausea, hangovers, travel and sea sickness, colds and flu, catarrh, congestion, coughs, sinusitis, sores on the skin, sore throat, diarrhea, colic, cramps, chills and fever.
Black Pepper is a warming oil can be used to great effect to help circulation and bruising and specifically to help with muscle tone, aching limbs and rheumatoid arthritis. It further helps to promote digestion, the colon as well as the kidneys.
Orange oil can be used effectively on the immune system, as well as for colds and flu and to eliminate toxins from the body.It is a good diuretic and is most useful in balancing water retention and obesity. Its lymphatic stimulant action further helps to balance water processes, detoxification, aiding the immune system and general well-being.
Lemon oil can be very beneficial to the circulatory system and aids with blood flow, reducing blood pressure and helping with nosebleeds. It can help bring down fever, helps relieve throat infections, bronchitis, asthma and flu. It boosts the immune system and cleanses the body, improves the functions of the digestive system, and it is helpful with constipation, dyspepsia and cellulite. Lemon oil soothes and relieves headaches and migraines and is helpful for rheumatism and arthritis. It is also used for clearing acne, cleaning greasy skin and hair, as well as removing dead skin cells, easing painful cold sores, mouth ulcers, herpes and insect bites.
Lime oil is useful to cool fevers associated with colds, sore throats and flu and aids the immune system while easing coughs, bronchitis and sinusitis, as well as helping asthma. Lime oil can stimulate and refresh a tired mind and helps with depression. It can be helpful for arthritis, rheumatism and poor circulation, as well as for obesity and cellulite and has an astringent and toning action to clear oily skin and acne, and also helps with herpes, insect bites and cuts.
Grapefruit has a high vitamin C content and is therefore valuable to the immune system. It helps protect against colds and flu, has a very positive effect on obesity and also has diuretic properties, helping to remove excess water from the body and is therefore also great for treating cellulite. It has an uplifting effect on the mood and helps with stress and depression. It is used with great success to combat muscle fatigue and stiffness while stimulating the lymphatic system and thereby clearing the body of toxins. It helps to clear congested oily skin and also assists with acne, while toning the skin and tissues. Grapefruit is used in hair care to promote hair growth.
It may be cold and damp outside but I've been busy in my kitchen making soaps perfumed with essential oils, using plants grown in our kitchen garden, and now the whole house smells good.
As you can see the green soap contains Aloe Vera with Cucumber, perfumed with spearmint and is very kind to the skin and heals cuts and abrasions very quickly.
The white soaps contain Honey and Beeswax perfumed with lavender, and are really bubbly and creamy to use. Just have to wait 4 weeks now for the bars to cure before we can wash with them.
Enjoyed my soap making session, and feel productive.
Just randomness from around the house. These are probably my favorite! And their still half full! L. Ylang Ylang M. Sandalwood R. Rose Abs.
#Top10 Reasons Why I Love #EssentialOils (And You Should, Too!)
Essential oils have a long history of being number one when it comes to health, home, and happiness. No matter what the problem is that you are trying to solve, there is likely an EO that can help you rid yourself of the issue. Here is my own little list.
My top 10 list of why I love essential oils, and why you should too (as if you need any more reasons).
1. Feeling Alert and Awake
Some essential oils, such as peppermint have been shown to add a little spring in your step. It can make you feel more alert.
2. Cleaning and Disinfecting
Another reason why I love essential oils is, they are great not only for cleaning but, disinfecting our homes. The oils from lemons and the tea tree are perfect for doing just that.
3. Better Massages
Using just a few drops of an essential oil blend such as Young lIving's Peace and Calming in your favorite massage oil will greatly enhance your relaxation.
For your safety and the safety of your kids, it is important not to exceed:
Adults: 1% concentration (1 drop per teaspoon of massage or carrier oil)
Infants: .25% concentration
Children 6 months. - 2 yrs: .5% concentration
Children 2 yrs & older: 1% concentration
4. Soothing to the Mind and Soul
One of the ingredients in Peace and Calming is Roman chamomile. For centuries, chamomile has been used to help induce relaxation. "Ancient Romans used the oil for mental clarity and courage during war." This miniature daisy-like bushy plant is also great for mental clarity and spiritual awareness.
5. Easing Pain
Lavender is what got me into EOs in the first place. Adding just a couple of drops of lavender essential oil to a hot Epsom salt bath will soothe those achy muscles and painful joints. Like the Roman chamomile, lavender is supercalifragelisticexpialidocious for relaxing, too. Just this tip alone is why I adore essential oils so much.
6. Deodorizing
I love essential oils, but I adore patchouli. If you recall an article I wrote a few weeks back, I wrote about the awesomeness of patchouli essential oil. I love it so much that I even put up a video up on my YouTube channel.
Anywho, in both the video and the article, I said that patchouli has been used for centuries in perfumes for deodorizing. The hippie culture used it for this and to rebel against "the man," by bringing them and the scents around them closer to the earth, instead of conformity.
7. Unstuffs the Stuffiest Noses
I love essential oils that can decongest me during the long, cold, and wet winters in Pennsylvania. Peppermint and Eucalyptus (Blue, Radiata, Globulus, or any other variety) do a phenomenal job of clearing up my sinuses.
I like to put a couple of drops of eucalyptus and peppermint on a wet washcloth and hang it on a hook on my shower caddy out of the way of the water. The heat of the steamy shower wafts the mentholated goodness through the shower to break up any congestion I may have.
As an asthmatic with plenty of breathable allergies, these are oils I always make sure to have on hand in my arsenal.
8. Adding A Boost of Flavor to Cooking
I did not discover that using plant essences in cooking could kick up my recipes more than just a single notch until recently. I love using essential oils like black pepper or basil in recipes, frequently. I dip a clean toothpick into the EO of my choice
I use the toothpick method.I dip a clean toothpick into the EO of my choice
First, I dip a clean toothpick into the EO of my choice. Then I stir the toothpick into whatever it is that I'm cooking. It is mind-blowing that it only takes that little bit to add so much flavor.

What are your favorite essential oils to cook with?
9. Versatility
Whatever ails you, or is causing you strife, there is not just an app for that, there's probably an oil or an oil blend, too. The first blend that comes to mind is Young Living's Thieve's blend. Their special blend of clove, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary is inspired by a 15th-century legend. Learn a bit more about Thieve's with this fantastic infographic from Young Living.
10. Customize Your Bath & Body Care, DIY
I totally dig homemade bath and body products, which is why I made it my lifestyle and my profession, When you make your own stuff, you can make it all that you need it to be. With the right ingredients, know-how and the power of essential oils, the beneficial qualities you can imbue into your DIY bath and body stuff is nearly endless.
I take my laziness seriously, so dry shampoo is crucial in my hair care repertoire. I found this great video tutorial from Young Living a great way to learn how to make my own. Give it a try for yourself.
There are so many ways to use essential oils in and out of the home. I use them at every possible turn. I love essential oils, and I hope you get to try some of my favorite reasons.

Boardgame ($5) we got for Eve, but she later refused it, & gave it back without opening, just like the last gift we got her a long time ago. That was a letdown and kinda bummed me out. Anyone want a $5 NCIS game? I don't.
Anyway, the 2 leather care kits ($4 total), however, became instrumental in cleaning a $15 box of bdsm equipment we purchased at a yard sale the following year. They also were used on our leather couches a bunch. Great find.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 7:00 AM, made it out driving by 7:38 AM and went out until [forgot:estimating 12:38PM] for a total of about 4 hours, 25 minutes (because we spent ~35 minutes eating).
Spent $54.67 plus ~$8.53 gas for 46.7 miles of driving (15 mpg @ $2.74/G), for a total cost of $63.20.
We drove to 29 yard sales, stopping at 19 (66%) of them [but one was a 50-vendor boy scouts sale, so this count is deceptive].
We made 36 purchases (28 items) for a total estimated value of $436.61, leading to a profit/savings of $373.41.
So in essence, we multiplied our $63.20 investment by 6.9X.
(Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $~427 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $373 in cash that we saved. How long does $ of disposable income take to earn, vs the 4.41666 hrs we spent here?)
Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $84.55/hr as a couple or $40.27/hr per person.

Prior to my Wordlwide Wizardry ceremony last night: the tools of my spiritual trade. I did not have any taken whilst I undertook the ritual as it was so so personal. I left my body at one stage, felt my self astrally projecting all over the place then returning. This happened when I gazed into the Obsidian mirror and suddenly my reflection disappeared beore my eys and I `entered` the mirror as I prayed for all of you that asked for requests. And I mean ALL of you...Holy water was drank, lemonbalm was drank and a small glass of red wine symbolising the blood of life. I can assure you that there really are some life changing events going to happen in your lives now..we have grown even b more together in Love...after I had finished I felt as though my entire life force had gone out of me and to everyone I knew or anyone who needed me. This was a very good thing as I needed my spirit to travel to you, to give you healing, peace,Love and inner joy that money cannot buy. On the next photo I shall make a list of the tools on the table. Thank you all for linking in with me, joining me in prayer knowing that together, we can grow in Love and Wisdom...our small offering to the universe and of its creator, to the angels and our guides. To the faerie folk and the magick of nature...I may not be a rich perseon financially but spiritually I feel I have won the lottery of Life! Blessings to each and every one of you!
Ximenia americana (Tallowwood, Hog Plum) flowers just opening at Juno Dunes.
Walking along a rain drenched path the most amazing fragrance engulfed me!. It was magical and unexpected. I searched the scrub and discovered it originated from a few tiny yellow-green fuzzy flowers. Surprisingly, it was my old friend the Hog Plum!
I don't know how I'd missed the scent in previous years, perhaps I thought it was Palmetto blooming. (The orange "cable" running through the frame is a parasitic Dodder vine, Cuscuta exaltata. The Hog Plum itself is semi-parasitic.)
If weather permits, I'll go back next week and visit these again, just sitting with them and basking in the fragrance while they are still blooming :-)
The above image was taken on a bright and shiny day in December a few weeks ago. It was one of the few photos I made for my good friend in Bali, Eka. The product samples were all post-mailed to Jakarta and I did the shoot at my convenience time. She loved them and I hope she will make more great sales in 2009!

Taken on this past Mother's Day , I am working on a little side project and I thought my friend's balcony with all it's delicious white splendor would make for a pretty background. Early in the morning I started out quite chirpy, but after 20 minutes, the Florida heat took over and I began to melt. This project will include quarterly selfies, my health, exercise and fashion tips for women over 50, my diet and skincare routine, and general Q & A's on "youthing".
I also enjoy shooting STOCK images, and I submitted some of these to GETTY, and this one was selected.

Essential oils provide cures to many everyday ailments including stress, colds, influenza, and more.
This documentary video started out to be about beekeeping in general but, as with most of my projects, environmental and quality of life concerns soon became the primary focus. This is the culmination of many hours of interviews, photography and videography over the period of three months.
Please take a look and let me know what you think. All helpful critiques are welcome! I want this piece to be as good as it deserves.
Thank you for your patience with me - you are great flickr friends and I appreciate you.
