The European bee-eaters (Merops apiaster, gyurgyalag) are my favourite birds. It's a real magic to watch the dozens of colorful birds flying around, hunting and listen to their soft, unique song!

Alcatraz Island or "The Rock" seen from a ferry. Today there's an easy way to escape from the island, but it was almost impossible when it was a state prison. There is no proof, that anybody survived while trying to escape. The fate of three men who managed to make it to the bay is still unknown, but it's unlikely that they survived.
Wish it's that easy...
...that when we make mistakes, we just press ESC and we can start all over again... without any worries...
Life has no ESCAPE key ... it only gives chances. And we just have to make the right decisions the next time around.
Happy weekend myFLICKR friends!

A very hot day in August, the snails clustered themselves up to a dry plant, just for escaping the heat from the earth.

A shot of some old buildings with fire escapes outside them,in the Bowery neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. The buildings are "walk-ups" which means they have no elevators, only staircases.Elevators are required for buildings with six or more floors. In the past there were about two to three apartments on each floor.Nowadays, the 2nd and 3rd floors are sold as duplexes and the top three floors as triplexes for a five-story building.Smart.The first floor would be for retail space.
Check out the interesting history on the fire escape in the link. The images shown in the link is how I remembered them growing up in the Bronx many years ago.I like the Puerto Rican flag in my shot. www.boweryboogie.com/2014/10/favorite-pastime-tenement-fi...
