This little cat jumped up in my lap, kneaded my legs and then settled down. Mom found me sitting there with the cat and said, "You're not supposed to pick them up." I told her it jumped in my lap. When she sat down, it crawled over to her lap. It was such a sweet cat; I wanted to bring it home.
Floridita or El Floridita is a historic fish restaurant and cocktail bar in the older part of Havana (La Habana Vieja), Cuba. It lies at the end of Calle Obispo (Bishop Street), across Monserrate Street from the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana). The establishment is famous for its daiquiris and for having been one of the favourite hangouts of Ernest Hemingway in Havana. The bar now boasts a life size bronze statue of Ernest Hemingway positioned in his favourite spot at the end of the bar. On a small plaque hanging in El Floridita, hangs Hemingway's signed quote: "My mojito in the Bodeguita del Medio and my daiquiri in the Floridita".
This is one of the famous Hemingway cats, enjoying a siesta in the rain gutter just outside Ernest Hemingway's office where he wrote some of his best works.

The house was built by Asa Tift, a marine architect (and Confederate mariner), in 1851. In 1931 Hemingway purchased it and lived here with his second wife, Pauline, and their two sons until 1939.
Here, Hemingway completed the final draft of "A Farewell to Arms," as well as "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber".
875 Lake Street at Kenilworth Ave. Oak Park, IL The Unity Church is a perfect example of Wright's idea of organic architecture- the thorough integration of materials, structure, function and ornament into a perfectly unified whole.

One of the many polydactyl cats on the grounds of the Hemingway Home and Museum on Key West. (Not all of the cats have six toes, but all carry the polydactyl gene.) This one was very friendly, and enjoyed the scratches I gave him as our guide wrapped up his tour at the back of the house.
Part of Hemingway's collection.
