Towards the Chingford end of the forest.

This is a colour photograph but the colour hasn't registered !! I checked it at 100% and a few leaves in the shadows have colour but that's it. Everything was totally covered with snow. This was taken two years ago; the weather now is horrendous rain all over the UK. What a contrast between winters.

This is for Julie (Moodyfan) who captures these kind of scenes so much better than I do

Epping Forest. Saturday evening.

This shallow, muddy pool is right next to the artificial lake Connaught Water.

A wetland area, currently just slightly swampy but will turn into a group of small ponds over the winter.

There's a good crop of holly berries this year.

Another shot of this shallowly flooded area near Connaught Water.

Yesterday...

Just seen that this has reached a ranking of 6 in Explore. My highest yet... :)

Epping Forest London January 2010

Epping Forest, Essex.

Connaught Water is one of the most popular lakes to walk around in Epping Forest, largely because of the range of wildlife that lives here and its close proximity to Chingford.

My first trip to Epping Forest and I was blessed with almost perfect colour and conditions - happiest four hours with a camera I've had for a long time.

EPP, hexies, granny's flower garden, hand pieced, quilt, top,

Been experimenting with landscapes in photoshop. I took all these photographs in the last few weeks in Epping Forest.

The Northern Railway Line in Sydney (Strathfield to Hornsby) opened in 1886 and was electrified in 1926.

Epping is located 18 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district and harbour. @sydney

Epping Forest pool. From my trip out to the Essex woodland on Saturday.

Epping forest. Still not quite there, another couple of weeks.

Not much picture wise today. Clear blue skies here in the UK which are lovely but not my favourite for photography. I enjoyed a nice walk in the woods before work and captured a few images just as the sun came up with a low depth of field to try and create a bit of atmosphere.

... with a little help from Photoshop ;-)

Epping Forest, Hollow Pond

Lovely to see quite a few Large Skippers, and also some Small or Essex Skippers flitting around in sunny spots in Epping Forest. This Large Skipper was very chilled sitting in the sun on the bracken!

Now a preserved railway, but in June 1981 it was the most surprising part of the London Underground. This is North Weald station. By then the passing loop had been removed - hence the abandoned platform and signal box. This of course meant only a one train shuttle service, which might have been peak hours only by this stage.

Epping Forest was founded in 1811. Once famous as part of the convict trail the lovely old town is small part of a larger rural community. The epping church was presbyterian but was sold to private owners. Enjoy this small series of shots from around the area.

Poor light today but this turned out ok.

I also spent a few hours trying to undo what the so called guardians of the forest have done :^(
