Another abstract view of Zion National Park. As we stopped for a quick restroom break on the trail back from the Subway I noticed this rock and it's rather intriguing patterns. Had not seen anything quite like it before.

A classic and common view, yes. One I have captured at all until now, no. The handful of times I have been here I was left with a very boring gray sky until this time. I actually did not plan to shoot here but it worked out well very last minute. Not 30 minutes prior I was hiking out of the Gorge in some of the heaviest hail I have been out in. I could tell as I got to my car that things were going to break but I had basically no time to decide where to go and my gamble was looking away from the sunset was going to be better off than shooting into it. The after glow gave a nice warm feel to this scene along with the fall trees with most of their leaves still looking good from a distance.

Mad a few mods to my original design, including designing a new and better looking stand (based off the new UCS Red Five X-Wing's). I also modified the design so that it would look better when put on the stand. other mods will be noted i the notes.

Introducing you to my latest Midi-Scale spaceship, the timeless Y-Wing from Episode IV - A New Hope! At 546 pieces, this compact and intricate model is barely wider than your average smartphone's height, but keeps a dense, detailed look and accurate proportions.
I initially made a first prototype more than a year ago but was unhappy with the half-baked, almost playset-ish scale. I took on the challenge again and recreated it entirely from scratch: it's now smaller, more accurate, and just better in every aspect.
Despite the small size, I did my best to capture the essence of the original ILM prop: tilted cockpit section, engines off-center relative to the thin support struts, asymmetrical greebles from top to bottom, cockpit turret...
Believe it or not, the deceptively simple shape of the body was not easy to capture at this scale: with such a tiny surface to work with, a subtle balance had to be struck between incorporating complex greebling and "drawing" an accurate body outline.
The cockpit section was a whole other beast, but once I figured out how to create the tapering, things clicked pretty fast. I managed to reproduce the slight downwards tilt, the yellow stripes on the fuselage, and the more discreet gray stripes on each side as well. I believe it's about as small as you can go when creating a Y-Wing cockpit without sacrificing crucial features and proportions!
This model comes with a removable stand. Although it being purely a display piece, its swooshability is very good. In addition to being cost-effective, I think it makes a nice desk model for anyone loving that ILM prop look, with a small space footprint.

Finally got a modern day Dewback and also a Sandtrooper with the orange pauldron marking him as an officer for Christmas.
This is easily the best Sandtrooper they've ever done in this scale. They finally got the dirtiness of the armor right and the articulation can't be beat, plus he comes with all sort of cool accessories like a neat blaster with an extending stock and a sentry droid (not shown here). If they had just given him some macrobinoculars, he'd be perfect! He even has the ball jointed hip articulation necessary for him to ride the Dewback.
The Dewback is pretty awesome, oddly, his box says his tail moves, but it doesn't!
Cal Kestis’ 2 Jedi Masters. Although Cere Junda was his unofficial Jedi Master I still consider her one of his Jedi Masters because he never finished his training as a padawan so he never became a knight. The other one is his actual Jedi Master the Lassat Jedi Jaro Tapal. I considered taking a stab at Eno Cordova but then Cal has 3 Jedi Masters

Then she is there, the inner chamber where the enslaved AI that controls the world we live in exists in huge processor arrays!

Padmé Amidala and C-3PO are taken hostage by General Grievous, leaving Anakin and Obi-Wan to save the Senator and complete the destruction of the Malevolence. Anakin and Obi-Wan chase down the Malevolence, hoping to destroy it before it can escape. But when Padmé and C-3PO are captured and held hostage aboard, the Jedi are forced to hatch a new plan.
After rescuing the Senator, duelling General Grievous and sabotaging the Malevolence it is time to leave the doomed battleship. As the group leaves for the Twilight they are pursued by Droid forces.
