This, I think was taken during the Halycion days of "Eat out to help out" in the summer.
Anyway I am very envious of the Dorset togs that live close to this spot, Knowlton Church and generally the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside and captured some beautiful snow pictures. It didn't find its way to us on the coast at all.
I have this scene taken at Autumn and I would have loved the chance of a snowy capture.
Maybe next year!!
I am envious of this little fellow ... he's taking a sunshine rest and I'm on my way to work .... something wrong with that picture lol! have a great sunshine day everyone!
👋💜 ENVIOUS 💜👋
To be envious is unhealthy, it prevents us from moving forward, and it fixates us on what others have, instead of our own dreams and goals that we're supposed to be striving for. It is the cowardly side of hate!

Petra (Arabic: البتراء, Al-Batrāʾ; Ancient Greek: Πέτρα), originally known as Raqmu (Nabataean Arabic: الرقيم), is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Petra lies on the slope of Jabal Al-Madbah in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah valley that run from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Established possibly as early as the 4th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataean Kingdom. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who invested in Petra's proximity to the trade routes by establishing it as a major regional trading hub.
The trading business gained the Nabataeans considerable revenue, and Petra became the focus of their wealth. The earliest recorded historical reference to the city was when an envious Greek dynasty attempted to ransack the city in 312 BC. The Nabataeans were, unlike their enemies, accustomed to living in the barren deserts, and were able to repel attacks by utilizing the area's mountainous terrain. They were particularly skillful in harvesting rainwater, agriculture and stone carving. The Kingdom's capital continued to flourish until the 1st century AD when its famous Al-Khazneh facade was constructed, and its population peaked at an estimated 20,000 inhabitants.
Encroaching troops of the Roman Empire in 106 AD forced the Nabataeans to surrender. The Romans annexed and renamed the Kingdom to Arabia Petraea. Petra's importance declined as sea trade routes emerged, and after a 363 earthquake destroyed many structures. The Byzantine Era witnessed the construction of several Christian churches. By 700, the city became an abandoned place where only a handful of nomads grazed goats. It remained an unknown place until it was rediscovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812, sparking renewed interest in the city.
The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. It is a symbol of Jordan, as well as Jordan's most-visited tourist attraction.
It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage".

Two neighbours came before Jupiter and prayed him to grant their hearts' desire. Now one was full of avarice, and the other eaten up with envy. So to punish them both, Jupiter granted that each might have whatever he wished for himself, but only on condition that his neighbour had twice as much. The Avaricious man prayed to have a room full of gold. No sooner said than done; but all his joy was turned to grief when he found that his neighbour had two rooms full of the precious metal. Then came the turn of the Envious man, who could not bear to think that his neighbour had any joy at all. So he prayed that he might have one of his own eyes put out, by which means his companion would become totally blind.

This Snowy Egret is showing off his beautiful breeding plumages. Seeing this on the bird (where they belong!) shows why people were so envious of these beautiful feathers!
Or should I say 'breakfast for two' Lorikeets taken on our sons deck.

Spring doesn't arrive when the calendar and the weather reporters say: "It's here". It happens when Mother Nature says: "I'm ready".
Every year we anxiously await the splendors of Spring. The rebirth of gardens and the return of warmth. Well, I must admit to being envious of all of the beautiful pictures of Spring beauty from all of my Flickr friends around the world. But, earlier this week, I went for my morning walk and..."She's ready!" Almost overnight, the fruit trees were in glorious bloom, the Spring flowers had burst from the underground bulbs, and the sun was bright in the blue sky.
It was Spring in Michigan! (SE Michigan, that is) :-)

Je vous dois une larme aux bords de mon tombeau ;
La fleur tombe en livrant ses parfums au zéphire ;
A la vie, au soleil, ce sont là ses adieux ;
Moi, je meurs; et mon âme, au moment qu’elle expire,
S’exhale comme un son triste et mélodieux.
Lamartine L’automne, Méditations poétiques, 1860
(...)
I follow with dreaming step the solitary path,
I like to see again for one last time
This fading sun, whose feeble light
Filters hardly to my feet in this wood so dark!
Yes, in these autumn days where nature expires,
I find greater allure in its veiled look.
This is farewell to a friend, the final smile
Of lips that death will close forever!
Thus, ready to pass over the horizon of life,
Weeping over my long days of vanishing hope
I return once more and, with envious glance,
Reflect upon goodness that I cannot enjoy.
Earth, sun, valleys, beautiful and sweet nature,
I will owe you a tear when I approach my grave;
Whether the air be perfumed or the light be pure
To a dying man, has the sun such beauty?
Now, I would like to drain to the dregs
This cup of sorrow mixing nectar and gall!
Perhaps at the base of this cup where I drank of life,
There would remain a drop of honey?
Perhaps the future will provide for me again
A return of pleasure when hope is lost?
Perhaps in a crowd, a soul that I ignore
Would have understood my soul, and would have responded?...
The flower surrenders its perfume to zephyrs and falls;
To life, to sun,there are farewells;
And I? I die; and my soul, when it expires,
Will sigh like a sad and melodious sound.

Well, it's not entirely true. Yesterday when I made dinner there was salmon for both of us. Only today, yes, I still had a portion all to myself ;-) But yesterday I thought of this song from our youth again – and found it perfect for today's topic. So quick – cut a mini slice and put it in the freezer ... With a toothpick you usually quickly pick the best pieces from the buffet. Yesterday we didn't eat with a toothpick but with a knife and fork ... Bon appetit!

Guten Appetit!

Traveling alone by small boat in The Marquesas - located nearly 1,000 miles northeast of Tahiti - on a scientific mission to document the ethnic customs, chants and languages of the local inhabitants, I make contact with a most unusual aquatic people, hitherto unknown to science. I am anchored about 12 nautical miles due East of Nuku Hiva the "Mysterious Island".
For days now I have been waiting to interview them but they stay submerged in the shallow turquoise waters. All I can do is record their gentle chants with my underwater microphone. I watch them dance beneath the surface of the waves, envious of their happiness among the fish and the jellyfish.
I decide I will join them. I shall jump into the water, with my guitar and my tambourine.

Paul was the undisputed king of the café corner. Every morning, he flopped onto the sidewalk, mastering the art of looking dramatically exhausted.
Passersby admired his dedication to laziness. Some took photos, others sighed, envious of his carefree existence. A waiter dropped a croissant crumb nearby. Paul considered moving—then decided against it. Too much effort.
With a deep, world-weary sigh, he embraced his destiny: to be the ultimate café philosopher, contemplating life… one nap at a time.

I think you do a wonderful job of giving our country a bit of elegance, charm, and sensitivity, that otherwise seems to be missing these days. So, you are an amateur photographer, like me, who plays with editing to try to improve the aesthetics of your photos - so do I! I love the photos you release of your family, having 3 children of my own and a marriage that didn't work, I am envious of your togetherness. II imagine Louis was holding a toy you thought was a bit out of place? I too would have thought nothing of trying to remove it, and I too would have left 'evidence of tampering with pixels' - if you had wanted it to be perfect you would have got someone else to do it. Please don't let the critics and commentators stop you - it is refreshing to see real people in your position acting as examples to the rest of us. You must get so tired of the criticism......Most of us simply love you!!
I've watched a couple of robins throughout the spring and on through the summer building a nest, losing the nest to a powerful storm and then rebuilding another nest within days...and this time with success. The young fledgling in the previous picture was a result of their tireless drive to continue the species through incredible odds made up of weather conditions and predators ...and that is just to get them hatched...now the feeding! I've seen so many worms in a beak at one time that it would make a fisherman envious!! It really is an amazing process and one that is not hard to relate to as life throws up all the stuff we humans have to get through and then I think, how nice of nature to give us lessons like this along our way...just a thought....
thank you so much for your visits and inspiration!

I might be a bit on and off in the lead up to Christmas ... and so might many of you. So just in cases (hopefully you've watched "Love Actually" the best Christmas movie of all time) ... I wish all my wonderful Flickr family a safe, happy and joyous Christmas. And for those of you enjoying a white (or even a cool) Christmas ... throw a snowball or two for me, I'm seriously envious ... and I promise to think of you whilst drinking champagne in the pool :)

Bentley Priory is best known for its pivotal role as Headquarters Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain in 1940. I went there last week with my granddaughters to look round the museum but silly me I picked the day it was closed. Had a wander round the beautiful grounds & an envious look at the million + houses on the estate & then went elsewhere.
"We are the Summer grasses, green blades reaching skyward, nurtured in fertile soils, thirst quenched with living waters. We dance and bend among Spirit winds. Seed pods glow, glimmer in late season's setting sun. Seeds fall, grasses grow. We are one with the Eternal, forever changing, forever the same." ~ WOLFgang

Romeo and Juliet: Annotated Balcony Scene, Act 2, Scene 2
[Enter Romeo, not to see, yet.]
Romeo.
He jests at scars that never felt a wound.
[Juliet appears, will be seen, soon.]
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou her maid art far more fair than she.
Be not her maid, since she is envious;
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off.
It is my lady, O, it is my love! (10)
O that she knew she were!
She speaks, yet she says nothing; what of that?
Her eye discourses, I will answer it.
I am too bold: 'tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars,
As daylight doth a lamp. Her eyes in heaven (20)
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
See how she leans her cheek upon her hand
O that I were a glove upon that hand,
That I might touch that cheek!
Juliet.
Ay me!
Romeo.
She speaks.
O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art
As glorious to this night, being o'er my head,
As is a winged messenger of heaven (30)
Unto the white-upturned wondering eyes
Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him
When he bestrides the lazy-puffing clouds
And sails upon the bosom of the air.
Juliet.
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
Romeo.
[Aside.] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
;-) ...
