I think I am approaching a match on the texture of the acrylic rod used in the V24. On one side of this is an actual V24, on the other is the V24 rod that I created to match. What do you think? Is it live? Or is it Memorex? ;-) Is it a match? Can you guess which one is the real V24?
To make sure the test was comparable, I used an actual V24 base under each rod. I think I can work on finishing my design of the rest of the tool now. I have only to finalize the base and extactly what controls there will be along with how they will be mounted. The electronic design is already complete along with a protype circuit board!

After falling on 6th place last week, I realized how important it is to not mess up again, especially because the themes are getting harder as the competition's drawing closer to the end.
So, here is my entry. When I read the requirements for this theme, my immediate thoughts were to do something that involved Entity being tied up and trapped underwater.
The two girls on either side are underwater demons who are trying to drown Entity. Once she dies, she will become a demon herself.

For this challenge only, I decided to give Entity a Greek name - Eulalia. The reason why is because I am pretending she is from Greece (of course), so I believe keeping the name Entity would've slightly affected the realism, especially because we were to do something based on real history.
Here, Eulalia, dressed in old fashion clothes, just arrived along the borders of Ellis Island, New York via ship with some fellow Greek immigrants due to a famine back home. Now settled into a small shack with several other women (and baby), she is hoping to possibly marry, find a bigger home and make a better life for herself.

There are hundred-foot tall tulip trees surrounding my house. Some of my earliest memories are of being in my backyard, looking up at these trees. I felt a strong connection with them, considering them entities unto themselves.
I spent many afternoons and evenings communing with them.
Examining the moss and lichens that grew on their ridged bark.
Tracing their expansive root systems that rose like seaserpents through the soil.
Staring in wonder at knotholes and other openings in their flesh, wondering what kind of creatures might find refuge there.
Examining the rainswept constellations of stones and bugs that gathered at their bases.
Wondering what it would be like to climb to their tippy-tops, clinging onto swaying branches like the squirrels and birds.
In the summertime, I lay in the tree fort to read under their foliage, periodically stopping to stare up through their emerald plumes, somehow feeling both nothing and everything.
In the winter, I sat at the kitchen table and divined their branches; animals, letters, and human figures emerged to greet me.
In middle school, I cried when a large number of them just past our fence were cut down to make way for a new property.
As a teenager, I looked through my beside window to the ones that remained, both during the night and the day. I thought of them as neurons, synapses firing as their branches shifted in the wind.
I memorized a line from an Allen Ginsberg poem, and recited it in my mind while I watched them dance;
“today out of the window
the trees look like
live organisms
on the moon.”
They remain something both familiar and foreign to me to this day. Looking at them through my telephoto lens for this photo, they took on yet another layer of mystery. Encrusted in ice, their branches sparkled like gemstones; red, yellow, blue, and, occasionally, every color at once in rainbow-flashes.
Light captured in place of summer's leaves.
Talking to me.
Something about eternity.
Find Me Elsewhere:
I love sharing my beautiful city with all of you.
No masking of any sort this time (a bit lazy today).
LIME for short.
I decided to make another Bitty Bot, but instead of basing the entire creation on one piece, I wanted to see how far I could get without relying on NPU.
So, I chose a relatively flashy color instead. ;3

Based in 1800-1808, right before the slave trade to the U.S. officially ended.
In over four centuries, about 12 million Africans were forced from their homes and about 10 million survived their journey to go westward and become slaves. They were badly mistreated both mentally and physically - "they were packed tightly on ships for months at a time chained to each other with no place to go to the the bathroom, little water to drink and hardly anything to eat."
(( My resources: wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_was_the_first_to_sell_slaves_in_th... & www.exampleessays.com/viewpaper/64862.html ))
Story: When Entity saw how bad the English and Americans were treating the Africans, she was furious and eventually wanted to make a statement that would change people's ideas about racism. This 'statement' was the biggest sacrifice - to suffer the same way her newly-made friends were and prove the love she had for them. In order to fulfill her wish, she kept urging the counsel to make her a slave, but they refused. After a few days of failed attempts, she began bringing food to the hungry slaves, until finally, the cold, ruthless white people just couldn't stand any more, and Entity accomplished what she wanted and was thrown into slavery for showing so much care and support to her dark-skinned companions.
***In this picture, the girls are shocked as one of the African women in Entity's chained group accidentally dropped a bucket and was threatened to be killed by the guard if she made any further mistakes.

Entity was assigned hair as her fashion addiction, so I decided to give her the role as a hair dresser. Here, she is supposed to be giving the customer on the chair a trim, but instead was distracted by her own hair after catching a glimpse of it in the mirror that she subconsciously stopped everything she was meant to do just to play around with it.

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park > Sierra Railroad > History
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, and its operating entity, the Sierra Railway, is known as "The Movie Railroad." Both entities are a heritage railway and are a unit of the California State Park System. Railtown 1897 is located in Jamestown, California. The entire park preserves the historic core of the original Sierra Railway of California (later reincorporated as the Sierra Railroad). The railway's Jamestown locomotive and rolling stock maintenance facilities are remarkably intact and continue to function much as they have for over 100 years.
The California State Railroad Museum (CSRM), headquartered in Old Sacramento, assumed responsibility for Railtown 1897 State Historic Park on July 1, 1992.
History
The Sierra Railway #28 steam locomotive at Railtown 1897, in 2006
The Sierra Railway served the West Side Lumber Company mill at Tuolumne, as well as the Pickering (later Standard) Lumber Company) in Standard, California. The West Side operated an extensive 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge logging railroad in the Sierra Nevada range of the western Rocky Mountains. It operated into the 1960s, and was the last of the narrow-gauge logging railways operating in the American West. The Pickering Lumber Company operated an extensive logging railroad that extended northeast of Standard all the way north to what is now the South Grove of Big Trees State Park.
In addition to seasonal steam and diesel-powered train rides, the Railtown experience includes tours of the locomotive roundhouse originally built in 1910, the machine shop, and related exhibits. Movie paraphernalia
used in filming train sequences is on display.
Volunteer opportunities are available to help preserve and educate the public about the park. Duties include giving tours of the roundhouse as well as delivering speeches about the locomotives and the surrounding areas while on a short train-ride tour.
Since 1929, when The Virginian was filmed with the Sierra No 3, the Sierra Railway properties have been a major resource to the motion picture industry. Over 200 movies, TV shows, and commercials have featured Railtown and its trains. Sierra's tracks, locomotives and cars have long been seen on the silver screen; film credits include Go West with the Marx Brothers, High Noon with Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, 3:10 To Yuma (1957) featured #3 in the end of the movie, as well as Back to the Future Part III with Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Television programs that regularly used the Sierra property include Wild, Wild West, Iron Horse, Tales of Wells Fargo, and perhaps most famously, Petticoat Junction. The Sierra No. 3 locomotive and Sierra's coach number 5 were the Hooterville Cannonball. Locomotive No. 3 was also used in numerous episodes of Little House on the Prairie.
Proposed closure

The Railtown 1897 State Historic Park was one of the 48 California state parks proposed for closure in January 2008 by California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as part of a deficit reduction program, though it did not close.
In May 2011, California State Parks announced the closure of Railtown 1897 along with 69 other parks. The closing was anticipated in July 2012, but due to the efforts of locals and enthusiasts, Railtown 1897 will be open indefinitely, and has received funding to make major repairs to the Sierra No. 28, a steam locomotive original to the Sierra Railway and a mainstay of passenger operations for the park.
A surreal bioluminescent alien entity standing in a shadowy, otherworldly environment. The creature has a soft, organic body with octopus-like limbs and layered, coral-textured skin in teal, violet, and deep sea green hues. Embedded throughout its form are glowing, lens-like orbs radiating magenta and amber light. Its head is a translucent dome containing a cracked, molten core glowing like liquid fire. Ultra-high detail, cinematic lighting, shallow depth of field, dark sci-fi atmosphere, hyper-realistic textures, and an eerie yet majestic presence.
