Also, Zeit lassen ist angesagt !

My arctic road trip takes me further from Lapland towards the Lofoten. From Halti to Å, that's a distance of almost 600 km. Although the roads are being massively expanded, with spectacular bridges and tunnels through mountain ranges and under fjords, up here in the far north there are no motorways. 80, rarely 90 kmh, you are not allowed to drive any faster here and most of the time it is not possible. Too many bends, villages, sheep on the road. So, take your time! There is so much to discover on the way to the southwest! I make a worthwhile stop at the Målselva river. Not far from Bardufoss, the river forms a waterfall, the Målselvfossen. From April to June, the salmon migrate upstream here. To bypass the waterfall, a partially tunnel-like salmon ladder has been installed. At one point there is even a window through which you can watch the fish.
It is a sunny morning, I am completely alone. Sunlit clouds of mist rise from the waterfall. The water thunders down over the rocky steps. The thunder is suddenly drowned out by an even louder thunder: an Airbus A 320 flies over me, less than 200 m away. I get a huge fright. The explanation is simple: Bardufoss Regional Airport is just 3 km from here.
.
After a few hours of descending from the Halti, I reach the parking lot. Then another 15 km of rough gravel road - the rental car survived it well - and I am back at sea level. The picture shows the Lyngenfjord, which comes from the Arctic Ocean and extends far inland.

This image was taken inside an abandoned slate quary.
It was closed in 1985.
The lower levels are filled by water and I think they are a must-see destination for every cave diver.
Escpecially with all the relicts from past times.
Fortunatly there is a lot of stuff to discover in the upper levels.
I had a wonderful photo tour which was very interessting.
Our guides had more dedication, passion, knowledge and humor than I would ever expect.
Here is their website:

THANKS ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS !!!!!
Actually the plan was to photograph some Perseids, because this night of the 12th/13th August 2013 was the maximum of the meteor shower activity in 2013. But, after I found this place I couldn't resists trying to combine startrails with car light trails.
And, like I already did it before in one of the previous project, I had to drive the car by myself after I fired the camera using endless exposure mode, because the road was not used often by anyone.
By the way, 10mm Lens, which I rented specifically for this night is awesome! The diameter of this turn is ca. 160m and the camera was placed about 3m away from it, however the whole area could fit on the photo.

If You are interested in a digital copy or a poster of the photograph (or other photographs), please just drop me an Email on b.jordan@gmx.net.

I always take a break here on my normal walk.
The route is interesting, although I've been walking there regularly for a few years, there's always something to discover

The Eichwerder Moor Meadows are a moor that extends in the north of Berlin near Lübars on both sides of the border between Brandenburg and Berlin. In the past, gentians and orchids flourished in the Tegel Brook Valley. Today, unfortunately, only a few species bear witness to the rich bog vegetation - but at least you can discover marsh valerian or bistort, for example. This is thanks to a joint project by the Brandenburg Nature Conservation Fund and the Barnim Nature Park, which together renaturalised this rare habitat on the border between Berlin and Brandenburg, so that the Eichwerder moor meadows are recovering more and more. In the past, the meadows had been drained for cattle breeding. Now the moor is being wetted again, so that the typical moorland vegetation is slowly returning and the trees that did not belong in a moor, which had grown on the dry meadows, are dying.

Lighthouse on the Oberalp Pass, Switzerland.
The lighthouse on the Oberalp Pass summit (2'044m / 6'700ft) stays near the source of the Rhine river. The lighthouse was built as a symbol of the connection between the beginning and the end of the Rhine. It is the copy of a real lighthouse, which once stood in Rotterdam, Netherlands, at the mouth of the Rhine.
Water is the basic element of life.
Four of Europe's most important rivers (Rhine, Reuss, Ticino, Rhone) originate within the St. Gotthard Massif, which finally flow into three different seas.
The Rhine flows into the North Sea.
The Reuss flows into the Aare -> Rhine -> North Sea.
The Ticino flows into the Po -> Adriatic Sea.
The Rhone flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
The 90-kilometer "Four Headwaters Trail" leads you to their sources, and you can enjoy a journey along this trail in single-day segments or in a continuous 5-day hike.
The path lets you discover a unique landscape and raises awareness about the importance of water as a natural resource.
The Four Headwater Trail Foundation was established to bring this project to fruition and to provide for its long-term management.

Bleistift, 10x15 cm.
In cities and in the country I want to my memory quickly simple, discovered, hidden places draw - always there - in the idea of being alone, even without the overflowing traffic around me. But because I need about half an hour for such a drawing, I can only discover, see and work, when I'm alone. That's rarely the case.

ENG: 2017 celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation
"October 31, 2017 marks 500 years since Martin Luther published his Ninety-Five Theses, which he is said to have nailed to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg. The date Luther posted this document is widely considered the start of the Protestant Reformation, triggering a process of modernization that swept through the Church, State, and society around the world. What started in Wittenberg as a protest against the Sale of Indulgences in the 16th century would have a permanent impact on Germany, Europe, and the world." --> seen in www.3xhammer.de/en/background/

Being rather unlucky with sightings in our 2022 KTP trip, we still found a good share, but only seldom sightings... not as frequent as a lot of befriended travelers told us.
When we came down the traverse road from Kiliekrankie, two cheetahs were strolling away from the KijKij waterhole and shortly after taking a rest in the shadows.

Pilze an Baumstämmen
If you look closely, you can discover them: mushrooms that grow on tree trunks do so in a wide variety of colors and shapes and thus become a unique work of art. Sometimes they are flat, sometimes round, sometimes they have the shape of a rose or a fan - if you keep your eyes open, you can admire their beauty in the forest. Incidentally, some of the tree mushrooms are also edible. As a layperson, it is better to keep your hands off the mushrooms, because not all are non-toxic: Poisonous mushrooms can also grow on tree trunks.

This youngster only left the nest today and is fully capable of flying. I was able to discover two more siblings. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to observe them being fed by their parents. A challenge for next year.
