Are you a rap genius?
Students enrolled in ENGL 203: Becoming a Rap Genius studied the art of lyrics in rap music. By using the crowd-sourced annotation site genius.com, students drew parallels and compared works by traditional writers, like Zora Neale Hurston and Ralph Ellison, to modern artists, including Jay Z, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj.

I have been in Japan for almost a year. It's quite an experience. I came here on a working holiday visa so we work half of the time and holiday the other half. When we are not traveling we teach English in this small town. On Fridays we teach at the kindergarten. These are the kids in our class.
I have developed such a relationship with them. I like these kids. These days they have also learned how to behave around us. It's a proud moment when they all sit down without us telling them to. It's great when they say "please" whenever they ask for something. :)
The school building has a sunny private garden. It is 15 minutes walk from the central city square. www.english.school.nz
