Here are a few pics of an engine casualty we had a while back. We spun a couple of main bearings (which then fried and melted to the crank and rods) and broke the oil pump. One of the pistons overheated and caused the liner o-rings to fail, which then flooded the crankcase with coolant.
The 100 hour first Gulf War was over, but there was work to do for 32 Armoured Engineer Regiment to help clear the main Basra Highway into Kuwait City, that was littered with bombed and abandoned vehicles. This is a Combat Engineer Tractor making light work of moving lorries out the way.

Engineers finally got their first look at Hubble in seven years during the successful grapple of the telecope. These images were captured in the Goddard's Space Telescope Operations Control Center (STOCC) about 1:15 pm ET.

Looking towards another corner of the layout, featuring the engineers sidings, and spoil dump sidings in the top left. 31420 and 31146 'Brush Veteran' creep slowly by on empty spoil wagons, while 37057 'Viking' and 37116 wait on MEAs. 37505 can be seen speeding into the shot.

Swainsboro’s own 810th Engineer (ENG) Company’s (CO) (SAPPER) main body returned from Afghanistan to a proud chain of command at Volk Field Wisconsin. The soldiers will remain at Ft. did actually go down here for the 2 ecs on sunday there was a tree i cut donkeys ago so i thought sun just about right here i bob down.why is it when you want notwork rail to cut trees they dont.but the buggers have cut a fair few down here on left hand side of picture.the engineers was actually running about 170 odd late

We shadowed our friends at the 553rd Forward Engineer Support Team – Advance en route to a mission in Kandahar. The team deployed to Afghanistan from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District and will be supporting engineering and infrastructure projects in Afghanistan for the next nine months. The men and women serving in the 553rd Forward Engineer Support Team – Advance are rare. There are only eight teams like them in the world; each comprised of one officer-in-charge, one non-commissioned officer and six highly-skilled U.S. Army Corps of Engineers civilian technical experts. From design, construction management, contracting, geospatial support and more, the teams quickly produce relevant engineering products and services worldwide.
Nineteen “future engineers” from Girl Scouts Troops 50303 and 51085 recently visited College of DuPage to take part in activities promoting engineering. Guided by members of the Society for Women Engineers (SWE) chapter at College of DuPage, the scouts constructed model bridges, made balloon-powered cars and learned about the effect of drag on projectiles. Organized by the SWE College of DuPage Chapter President Samantha Dando, this event was designed to introduce the girls to the hands-on problem solving aspects of engineering and provide them with information on what it means to be an engineer. The SWE is an international organization that encourages an inclusive environment in engineering disciplines to help women achieve their full potential in engineering careers.
