I have an unhealthy fixation with this bridge... The Engine Bridge in Canmore remains my favourite place to go.

One of the treasures of the Regional Museum Store in Beamish Museum is this Shand Mason & Co.( London) horse-drawn fire engine "The Nelson", of the Victorian era. The engine, built around 1890, was based at Bishop Auckland in south Durham during it's working life. Behind it is a 1931 Dodge bus from Weardale.

Occupation - helps driving steam engines at weekends at Derek Marder's Yard of various steam rollers and traction engines. This was taken before her face got sooty from the steam rollers !!

Image info Nikon D4 with Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens, processed in LightRoom Classic to colour pop her from the background. ISO 400, shutter 1/2000th, 180mm focal length, f/2.8 aperture .

This Beautiful Traction Engine was seen on display at a Vintage Agricultural Show at Keyingham in East Yorkshire earlier this month.

All but the first six DL500Bs built in Australia were double ended, unfortunately the B end being a lot less photogenic than the A 'cab' end.

Wherever possible I avoided pics of them B end leading, but for historical relevance I include this shot of 4471/4497 climbing Exeter bank with empty limestone 2Y11 from Berrima cement works to Marulan quarry on 22 March 1994.

Another shot of the engine just leaving Caernarfon Station and hauling a passenger train on the narrow gauge railway between Caernarfon and Porthmadog. This is loco 87, a NGG16 2-6-2+2-6-2T Garratt, which was imported from South Africa where it operated on a narrow gauge line (2 ft - 610mm) in Natal. It was one of four actually manufactured by the John Cockerill Company in Belgium in 1937.

The Welsh Highland Railway or Rheilffordd Eryri was completed in 1922. The original railway was not a success and closed in 1937. Starting in 1997 the railway was progressively reopened and is now a successful tourist attraction. The Ffestiniog Railway Company is the owner and operator of both the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway.

You never know what you will find walking the beach. This engine block was slowly being reclaimed by nature. The sea and waves had already filled all the available spaces with small pebbles shells and seaweed. They shone like jewels against the dull metal.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European multinational twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed originally as an air superiority fighter[5] and is manufactured by a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH. The NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency, representing the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain, manages the project and is the prime customer.

The aircraft's development effectively began in 1983 with the Future European Fighter Aircraft programme, a multinational collaboration among the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Previously, Germany, Italy and the UK had jointly developed and deployed the Panavia Tornado combat aircraft and desired to collaborate on a new project, with additional participating EU nations. However disagreements over design authority and operational requirements led France to leave the consortium to develop the Dassault Rafale independently. A technology demonstration aircraft, the British Aerospace EAP, first flew on 6 August 1986; a Eurofighter prototype made its maiden flight on 27 March 1994. The aircraft's name, Typhoon, was adopted in September 1998 and the first production contracts were also signed that year.

The sudden end of the Cold War reduced European demand for fighter aircraft and led to debate over the aircraft's cost and work share and protracted the Typhoon's development: the Typhoon entered operational service in 2003 and is now in service with the air forces of Austria, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Kuwait and Qatar have also ordered the aircraft, bringing the procurement total to 623 aircraft as of 2019.

The Eurofighter Typhoon is a highly agile aircraft, designed to be an effective dogfighter in combat. Later production aircraft have been increasingly better equipped to undertake air-to-surface strike missions and to be compatible with an increasing number of different armaments and equipment, including Storm Shadow, Brimstone and Marte ER missiles. The Typhoon had its combat debut during the 2011 military intervention in Libya with the UK's Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Italian Air Force, performing aerial reconnaissance and ground-strike missions. The type has also taken primary responsibility for air-defence duties for the majority of customer nations.

The difference in size between the larger, newer K-36 and the smaller, older K-27 classes is very apparent as #488 backs into the engine house while #463 looks on. #488 will have its fire cleaned and banked for the night, as well as an inspection after its 64 mile run from Chama to Antonito. #463 was staged in town for a photo charter that would take place later that week. A former UTLX tank car is present as well, now apparently used to store fuel for oil burners #487 and #489.
