So last weekend was fun since my new parts finally arrived. Now rocking the one-piece Steeda Strut Tower Bar (designed for a Ford Fusion) and a custom Optima 34R billet aluminum battery tray. Definitely gives the engine bay a bit of flare without being over the top.

Shot around 6:30pm on Halloween. Used LR3 to correct the wb/noise then opened in Photoshop CS5 to sharpen it up a bit.

As part of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of the colony of Queensland, the state owned old QR steam train made a journey through rural Queensland. One of the places vsisted was Barcaldine.

War Department "Austerity" 2-8-0, WD No. 79257 is a preserved British steam locomotive. It is the only survivor of its type.

Originally built by the Vulcan Foundry in 1944, works No. 25428, it was given the WD No. 79257. During the liberation of Europe, it was transferred to Mainland Europe with the British Army. After the war, it was sold to Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS, Dutch Railways), where it became part of the NS 4300II Class, No. 4383. NS in turn sold it, along with another classmate to Statens Järnvägar (SJ, Swedish State Railways), where it became SJ Class G11 No. 1931. SJ made extensive modernisation to the locomotive.

No. 1931 was saved from scrap by Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and ran in SJ condition for several years. Extensive restoration work, began in 1993 has restored 79257 to more or less original condition, as "British Railways No. 90733", one higher than the last BR ex-WD Austerity 2-8-0, 90732 Vulcan.

Most of these are modified versions of Anthony Sava's wonderful designs. He has a a Bricklink store from which I purchased everything but the two far left models. (Here is his store: www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=AggieSava ) The LDD files or copies of the models I made from his instructions are NOT for sale... so please don't ask.

The GG-1 was inspired by this builder from Brickshelf: www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=301802

The PA / PB models were inspired by Flickr user valgarise & his train called the "Invencible": www.flickr.com/photos/valgarise/6238331351/

The SW-1500 is from LGauge, a LEGO train MOC site. www.lgauge.com/

The Alco RS-2 was inspired by memories of a diesel creation my Father & me made when I was 7.

Anyway, these are all the bigger Brick Railway Systems engines in one picture. This includes (from left to right)

this is why i only work on simple things like computers. motherboards look like miniature cities, but this looks like some kind of futuristic tree's steampunk root system.

Flywheels of two of the four stationary steam engines at the Abbey Pumping Station Leicester

In this view you can also see the pump pistons and rods, the flywheel cranks and bearings, the bevel gear driven governors. The teeth on the flywheels are so that an engine can be barred round, pivot blocks for the bar can be seen at the bottom of the picture.

I worked for Gimsons during the 1970s. One of the machine tools there was a belt driven lathe that could take a large job on by removing plates from the floor to allow it to swing round, but although it was the oldest machine there I don't think it was used for making these

All aluminium has been degreased and acid-cleaned and left bare. The sump was repainted in black engine enamel. The cast iron block is in silver engine enamel. The cam cover has had unnecessary lugs, casting marks and an outlet removed before being etch-primed and coated in black wrinkle-finish paint. The TOYOTA casting was picked-out by rubbing-back to bare aluminium.
