The Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial Service is held each year to honor those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting the citizens of Virginia Beach. This year’s ceremony, normally held in May, was held on Oct 18th due to COVID. With honors presented by Police, Sheriff and Navy personnel, Flowers were placed in a wreath for fallen Police Officers, Sheriff Officers and Navy Master At Arms.

This is part of the huge contingency of fire fighting equipment that was lined up on the runway waiting to go in and tackle the blaze. The heat was so intense that at this time they couldn't actually fight the fire and were concentrating on preventing it from spreading to the surrounding buildings. They were also worried about two propane storage tanks which is why we were evacuated. My building is just beyond the tree at the right handside.

Following recent news of more worker injuries at Imperial Pacific International’s casino construction site, I had officials from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Wage and Hour Division brief me Thursday on their efforts to protect workers and hold repeat violators of safety and labor standards accountable. I particularly want to know why IPI has not paid any of the millions ordered by the consent judgement filed in April 2019 for worker back pay and overtime. I laid out further questions for the agencies to answer in this letter .
