on a busy madrid afternoon, life paused on a bench. his head dipped forward, lost to a moment of rest, while she leaned in closer, tethered to the glow of her phone. they were together, yet apart—bound by time, habit, and the comfort of shared silence. the hum of the city went on around them, indifferent and distant. it was a simple scene, but the kind that lingers, a quiet testament to enduring companionship.
.. but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen.
It is the distant hills once more in sight,
and the enduring constellations above them once again.

No matter the lengths to which mankind stretches its hand to wound and destroy, the quiet strength of the divine endures. In the midst of suffering and decay, when all seems lost, God always finds a way to remind the world of His intrinsic grace. Delicate and yet resolute, the smallest flowers stand as a testament to this enduring truth; no matter how deep the darkness, light will always return. It often comes in the simplest of forms, to offer hope for the future and renewal for the soul.
Not fog - this was the pall of smoke that covered Vancouver from the wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington. During that time, Vancouver was recorded as having the worst air quality in the world. It made me think so much of all the people enduring the actual fires and areas beyond!.
Took a trip up to Mt. Baker a month ago and spent the day enduring hordes of mosquitos and flies while hiking about shooting the scenery. This particular day had some stormy, unstable air, and the view of Mt. Shuksan (pictured here) was constantly changing. One minute it was clear as a bell, a few later it was completely hidden from view, and for a few fleeting minutes in between it was half covered with beautiful wispy clouds.
The Crump Theatre in Columbus, Indiana is a stunning testament to the town's rich architectural history. The vibrant marquee still glows with life, reflecting the theatre's enduring presence in the cultural fabric of Columbus. The Crump Theatre stands as a nostalgic beacon harking back to the golden age of theatre. The theater is currently undergoing a volunteer led restoration effort.
Some of the best old houses are the ones that have changed the least. It's hard to find 170+ year old houses that haven't been drastically altered or modernized in the 20'th century. I've had my eye on this house for many years and up until a couple of years ago it was still lived in. This old place has had some changes but it still feels like a house from the 1800's. This is the side of the house and that back porch wall that is collapsing is from a later date. I believe the house and outbuildings are from the 1820's and the main house was likely remodeled and enlarged around 1850.
An iconic example of mid-century modern telecommunications architecture, stands as a striking testament to functionalist design. Rising 279.2 meters into the sky, its sleek, cylindrical form is punctuated by a series of observation decks and antenna platforms, creating a rhythmic interplay of mass and void.
The tower, clean and unadorned, emphasizes its sculptural purity, while the stacked horizontal elements provide a dynamic contrast to its otherwise monolithic verticality. This interplay of geometric forms evokes a sense of engineered elegance, where function dictates aesthetics with an almost minimalist restraint.
Photographed in isolation, the Heinrich-Hertz-Turm becomes an abstraction of itself lines and curves distilled to their essence. The structure’s stark contrast against the sky enhances its imposing presence, transforming it into a solitary beacon of modernity. This is an architecture of utility elevated to an art form, where simplicity and precision converge to create an enduring visual impact.
One of the Keystone Arch railroad bridges near Chester, Massachusetts. As part of the first U.S. railroad to pass over a mountain in 1840, they were designated a national historic landmark in 2021. Nice trail with some great visuals.
Seeing my world order being overturned and shredded to pieces, values being carelessly betrayed, and my head being filled with ghosts, I can depend on enduring love.
The largest and brightest region of star formation in the Local Group of galaxies, including the Milky Way, is called 30 Doradus (or, informally, the Tarantula Nebula). Located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small neighbor galaxy to the Milky Way, 30 Doradus has long been studied by astronomers who want to better understand how stars like the Sun are born and evolve.
NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory has frequently looked at 30 Doradus over the lifetime of the mission, often under the direction of Dr. Leisa Townsley who passed away in the summer of 2022. These data will continue to be collected and analyzed, providing opportunities for scientists both now and in the future to learn more about star formation and its related processes.
This new composite image combines the X-ray data from Chandra observations of 30 Doradus with an infrared image from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope that was released in the fall of 2022. The X-rays (royal blue and purple) reveal gas that has been heated to millions of degrees by shock waves — similar to sonic booms from airplanes — generated by the winds from massive stars. The Chandra data also identify the remains of supernova explosions, which will ultimately send important elements such as oxygen and carbon into space where they will become part of the next generation of stars.
The infrared data from JWST (red, orange, green, and light blue) show spectacular canvases of cooler gas that provide the raw ingredients for future stars. JWST’s view also reveals “protostars,” that is, stars in their infancy, just igniting their stellar engines. The chemical composition of 30 Doradus is different from most of the nebulas found in the Milky Way. Instead it represents the conditions in our galaxy that existed several billion years ago when stars were forming at a much faster pace than astronomers see today. This, combined with its relative proximity and brightness, means that 30 Doradus provides scientists with an opportunity to learn more about how stars formed in our galaxy in the distant past.

The Transylvanian Hound is good-natured, courageous, and enduring. At his foundation, he is quiet and even, but also determined and lively. The environmental conditions of the Carpathians made the breed a tough, brave dog.
In the 15th century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers. Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not". This is a flower connected with romance and tragic fate. It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.
There are approximately fifty species in the genus, with much variation. A considerable number of the species have small (1 cm diameter or less) rather flat, 5-petalled blue flowers growing profusely on straggly stems, flowering in spring. Color variation is somewhat frequent within species, and white or pink forms are common. They are popular in gardens, and cultivated forms often show a mixture of colours. Forget-me-nots prefer shade.
Forget-me-nots can be annual or perennial plants. Their root systems are generally diffuse. Their seeds are found in small, tulip-shaped pods along the stem to the flower. The pods attach to clothing when brushed against and eventually fall off, leaving the small seed within the pod to germinate elsewhere. Seeds can be collected by putting a piece of paper under the stems and shaking them. The seed pods and some seeds will fall out.
Glastonbury Tor dominates the Somerset countryside for many miles around, with the roofless St Michael's Tower crowning the summit. The Tor is mentioned in Celtic mythology, particularly in myths linked to King Arthur, and has a number of other enduring mythological and spiritual associations.
The conical hill of clay and Blue Lias rises from the Somerset Levels. It was formed when surrounding softer deposits were eroded, leaving the hard cap of sandstone exposed. The slopes of the hill are terraced, but the method by which they were formed remains unexplained. Artifacts have been found, dating from the Iron Age to Roman eras.
Several buildings were constructed on the summit during the Saxon and early medieval periods; they have been interpreted as an early church and monks' hermitage. The head of a wheel cross dating from the 10th or 11th century has been recovered. The original wooden church was destroyed by an earthquake in 1275, and the stone Church of St Michael built on the site in the 14th century. Its tower remains, although it has been restored and partially rebuilt several times. Archaeological excavations during the 20th century sought to clarify the background of the monument and church, but some aspects of their history remain unexplained. The whole site is managed by the National Trust, and has been designated a scheduled monument.

Bannack State Park - Montana
Back in July of 1862 one of the original Pike's Peaks group members, John White, discovered gold in one of the creeks around Bannack, MT. The city grew quickly and by 1864 around 10K people were in and around Bannack. By 1874, the area was mined out and most the population quickly went elsewhere. The town barely survived through the 1930's and by the 1940's the population dwindle down to so few that there weren't enough children to keep the school opened and would then become a ghost town...and is extremely well preserved. This ol' International truck remains, with gear shift still working, in a quiet and isolated part of western Montana.
Resilient wildflowers grow on the rocky volcanic shore of St. Mary's lake in Glacier National Park.
I had planned a sunrise shoot on the coast of St. Mary lake to retrace my footsteps from 2017 when I first visited the park. After shooting more traditional compositions all morning, I spotted these beautiful flowers growing out of the volcanic rocks at the very edge of "beach" I was shooting on. I felt an instant admiration for the fact that this shrub was growing out of these hard rocks where no other plants survive. As the light was fading quickly, I grabbed a few shots of these flowers. I had to wait for the wind to quiet down in between shots to get these flowers sharp and in focus. It may not be an award winning image, but it's still special to me as a reminder to keep fighting against adversities.

Title: Enduring Love
Step Into The Nightmare If You Dare @
The dawn light on the fabulously clear Torridons had me fumbling about for my telephoto lens with barely useable numbed fingers.
It's a testimony to the enduring appeal of the Highlands that I'm still unfailingly motivated to capture such scenes despite the unavoidable pain & discomfort that a Winter's dawn at elevation can inflict on my poor extremities!
The very striking snowy pyramid near the middle belongs to Liathach & is called Spidean a' Choire Leith.
The light turns on automatically as you walk by. Rone - Time Exhibition at Flinders Street Station.
"A fictional history that transports audiences to post-WWII Melbourne, Time is inspired by an era when European migrants powered the city’s booming manufacturing industries. A vignette of mid-century working-class life and an ode to the faded yet enduring beauty of this forgotten place, Time captures the spirit of the city’s industrious past while offering glimpses of the station’s role as a once-glorious hub of work, learning and social life.
Twelve installations, each room adorned with Rone’s haunting signature murals, the artist and his team have created an immersive, multisensory installation that audiences will remember for time to come."
Stubborn...
After enduring a brutal winter of unrelenting cold and snow, these tenacious leaves have bravely persisted until the arrival of spring. Whether it's sheer resilience or stubborn determination, their presence certainly transforms this scene into an intriguing photographic subject.

Taken in Wisley gardens on a dull, wet day. Slight sharpening and contrast adjustments. I love the way these hydrangea seedheads hang on through wintry weather to provide form and interest and also the new interest added by the leaf skeletons as the year progresses.

After enduring three days of cloud and mist the sun finally came out, albeit very weakly during the final run-pasts of a TLE charter with 65894 on the North Yorkshire Moors. The J27 is seen here with a pick up goods at Moorgates as the final beam of sunshine hits the line.

Third Floor lift hallway at Flinders Street Station, site of Rone's Time installation. A must see if you are in Melbourne in the next few weeks. They are selling door tickets so there must be some spaces left. While I liked the Burnham Beeches Empire installation a touch more this was still really spectacular and so well done.
I will be posting some more photos as I process them but I would look at Andrew's Rone Time album as he has some spectacular shots.
"Set in the long-abandoned third-floor wing of Flinders Street Station, Time is a nostalgic love letter to mid-century Melbourne and a tribute to one of the city’s great icons.
Created and developed across the past three years, this truly exceptional site-specific experience is Rone’s most ambitious project to date. Profoundly atmospheric, Time captures both the grand scale and character of the site and the minute detail of a period of Melbourne’s history long lost to progress.

Forced to spend the day away from bustling crowds, frenetic consumerism, and an otherwise busy existence.

An enduring Christmas wreath gracing a tombstone at the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
As enduring as the game-viewing is the liberating sense of space that characterizes the Serengeti Plains, stretching across sunburnt savannah to a shimmering golden horizon at the end of the earth. And there are also wooded hills and towering termite mounds, rivers lined with fig trees and acacia woodland stained orange by dust.
Popular the Serengeti might be, but it remains so vast that you may be the only human audience when a pride of lions masterminds a siege, focussed unswervingly on its next meal.
As the sun gracefully dips into the golden embrace of the evening sky, the value of the lighthouse takes on an even greater significance. In the fading daylight, its luminous beacon emerges as a steadfast guardian, a symbol of hope and guidance. Against the canvas of twilight, the lighthouse stands tall and unwavering, ready to cast its radiant light into the obscurity of night, offering solace and direction to those navigating treacherous waters. Its worth transcends its physical form; it becomes a metaphor for the light of knowledge and the reassurance of safe passage through life's turbulent seas. With each passing sunset, the lighthouse's value grows, a testament to the enduring power of illumination in the face of darkness.

The enduring appeal of "The Lion King", inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the Lyceum Theatre.
If you find yourself crying,it’s out of joy and wonderment. The story centres on Courage,Loyalty, and Love of Home and Family values.
A lyrical, dramatic and epic musical show that dazzles all ages with the evocative rhythms of Africa set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains.Compelling storyline and light effects,
evocative stage and costume design, and most rousing music.
