Queenstown, Tasmania, Australia

When the ABT Railway (now the West Coast Wilderness Railway) was built in Tasmania, it was considered one of the engineering marvels of Australia.

The West Coast pioneers who built the original railway in 1896 accomplished a great feat of labour. For many miles along the King River the railway line was hewn with pick and shovel out of the steep side of the gorge. Forty two bridges were built over the 22-mile long stretch of wilderness; for the 'quarter mile' bridge below the gorge, pylons had to be driven 60 feet into the silt with men constantly up to their waists in the cold water

New Employee Orientation - Day 1

Nadia stared, curious, down the ramp to the basement. Leviathon had turned out to be a bust so far, she didn't understand why Amiya raved about the place. Closing her eyes, she tilted her head back and inhaled, scents assailing her. Finally, this one had promise... Nadia moved quietly down, eyes focused.

The tinkle of the piano filled the space, as Jan practiced, the rough shiner on his face testament to a battle royale last night, as ran through Rhapsody on a Theme. He seemed absorbed, as he played the quick-paced, harmony.

She leaned against the wall, the brick a rough touch on her skin as she watched. Nadia tilted her head, rubbing her hands along her thighs...the warmth of the body infront of her enticed her, his scent a cocktail of information. She took a few more steps forward, nearly silent with the piano playing.

Renard slowed now, as he reached the solo. The arpeggios drew beautifully, their melody romantic as he fell into the 18th Variation. It was strong, a melody of love, but more importantly, of passion. His fingers ran through chords, feet pressed pedals, as the piano seemed to throb with his chords.

Nadia had taken another few steps forward before she realized it and frowned. It was hard enough, fighting the instincts that she tried to keep buried, but the vibrations of the piano rushed thru her like a pulse she had never felt before, guiding her feet, taking her another step closer.

Jan suddenly stopped, surprised as he looked back, spotting the woman. "Bar's closed, ma'am. I'm just practicing."

Nadia stood quietly, seemingly no threat, soft smile on her face, lavender eyes warm..."That is why I came down...Don't stop" Her tail moved with a sinuous grace, silent.

He shrugged, and turned back to the piano, picking up from where he had left off. His fingers splayed as he played across the range of the piano, eyes half-closed as he worked through the piece. Tossing through improvisations where it seemed to amuse him.

She took a few more steps, another few feet closer, her body swaying with an inhuman grace. The scent of his skin grew stronger, suddenly overwhelming, sweet and a soft laugh escaped her lips.

Janeiro Renard quirked a brow as he watched her, the piece drawing to its close as he grins, and launches into "Dance in the Dark", thematically similar, in a smokey jazz kind of way. He ran through its faster pace, hands gliding through its baroque scales and the seductive tune with a quirked brow, "So, tell me, what brings you to the city? Live here?"

Nadia shook her head, platinum strands dancing around her shoulders.."No, just wandering" Her voice was as low and smokey as the music, a low purr barely evident. She moved closer still, muscles sliding under smooth skin, catlike, power hidden under that silken texture.

Janeiro Renard chuckles as he plays, glancing back at the hybrid with a wry smile, "I take it you're registered, then."

She shrugged "You register pets..I am no-one's pet." Nadia was now close enough to heart the slow throb of his heart, a faint sound under the music. "You play well.." So close....she couldn't think. She closed her eyes and tried to distance herself from the temptation, his body, his warmth.

Renard blinked, and tried to play without elbowing her, she was close. His mind drifted to Bodi. Too close. "As far as I'm aware..." he ventured, "The WU does not care for unregistered hybrids."

Nadia took the last few steps, instinct overriding the screams in her head telling her no, till she was behind him and to the left, the warmth of all that bare skin beating down on the man's back, her fevered blood beating hard and fast. "Ask me if I care." She raised on hand and let the fingers just drift along the hair that brushed his collar, releasing a wave of scent that made her sway.

The pianist felt the hot body behind him, and stopped playing. His jaw set, and he stood off the piano, looking back at her as he put appropriate distance between the pair. "Can I get you something to drink?"

She watched him move with wide eyes, smile curving her lips, he was still within reach.." Wine I think, red if you have it?"

Jansen walked past her, limping as he walked down to the counter, taking an open bottle of merlot, and pouring a glass half full. He set it across the counter.

Nadia ignored the gesture, moving behind the bar, again within close proximity, slow seductive movements meant to lull him, make sure he saw her as no threat. "Thank you" To take the glass, Nadia had to move close, pressing the warmth of her body along the length of his as she wrapped her fingers around the stem of the glass.

He was familiar with games of seduction, a master player of them himself, as he calmly put a hand on her chest, and pushed her away with a polite smile, "I'm flattered. But no." He stepped back, cigarette trailing blue smoke from his mouth, as he indicated the bar. "Employees only, this side."
