From Winter 2005 Interweave Knits

Trekking XXL in color # 109

I did these in less than 4 days! Such a quick and clever knit!

Distressed embossing detail on the background of a card using Hero Arts Antique Brocade Cling stamp background, Cat's Pajamas mushroom stamps, a bit of sky from The Graphics Fairy, and a couple-few cheap tricks.

These towels are embossed (raised letters). The embossed letter is created by the fluff of the towel when the surrounding area is embroidered in an overall pattern in a same color thread.

The embossed letter is encircled by an embossed frame

The effect is a very subtle and elegantly monogrammed towel.

Pattern: Embossed Leaves Socks, from IK Winter 2005.

Yarn: Brown Sheep Wildfoote in Crystal Pink.

Needles: Size #1.

Comments: I think these are the most delicate socks I've seen! The pattern is really very easy to memorize and I love the little details like the ribbing and the toe. As for changes, I made my usual Sherman Heel but that is all. I also quite like the yarn and will probably knit with it again. I can't believe that I knit my first pair of socks in February and this is already my fifth! HA! Can't wait for Socktoberfest!

British embossed spoon " Berlin " , silver-plated brass , 18.5 cm

POW art ?

There were two POW camps in the vicinity of Berlin; Döberitz and Dyrotz. The camp hospital was in the Alexandrinestrasse in Berlin. Among the first prisoners of Döberitz were men of the British Royal Naval Division taken POW after the siege of Antwerp in 1914.

The spoon has trademark/maker's mark ' The Potosi Silver Co of Birmingham ' ; this firm made silverware under this name from 1878 to 1910.

Potosi is a silver mining city in Bolivia.

This pony was made with Quick Cutz Metal Sheet Embossing--a wonderful product. I received this fanciful pony in my Faithful Horse swap at the recent Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat, held in Waxahachie, TX.

My first attempts at embossing. I'm a newbie to this but I already love it!

Here I used my new eraser stamp, I had carved a few days before.

I'm finally getting to cleaning off my craft room desk. It's about time! :-) Yesterday, I did a lot up there. Here's another example of embossed cardstock.

Embossed armour represents the pinnacle of the metalworker's art in armour. Unfortunately, the decoration significantly weakens the armour's defensive properties - both by thinning the metal and by providing edges that an attacking weapon could catch on, rather than glancing off. To borrow a quotation from a much later period, "C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre." [It is magnificent, but it is not war.]

The Berggruen Museum (also known as the Berggruen Collection) is a collection of modern art classics in Berlin, which the collector and dealer Heinz Berggruen, in a "gesture of reconciliation", gave to his native city for a price well below its actual value. The most notable artists on display include Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Georges Braque, Paul Klee and Henri Matisse. The Berggruen Collection is part of the National Gallery of Berlin.

The Bröhan Museum is a museum of art and design in Berlin. It is devoted to Art Nouveau, Art Deco and functionalism, and occupies a late-classicist former barracks in Charlottenburg, opposite Charlottenburg Palace. The museum is organised into "room ensembles", each containing examples of art, design and furniture from a particular phase in late-19th/early-20th century art history. Glassware, metalware and ceramics are displayed alongside paintings, in rooms furnished and decorated accordingly.] The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions on related themes. Many major figures from the history of decorative art and furniture-making are represented, including Friedrich Adler, Peter Behrens, Emile Gallé, Josef Hoffmann, Georg Jensen, Archibald Knox, Bruno Paul, and Henry van de Velde. The painting collection is focused on the Berlin Secession, and includes Hans Baluschek, Walter Leistikow, Lesser Ury and Karl Hagemeister. The museum's founder, Karl H. Bröhan, donated his collection to the city of Berlin in 1981. It had already been on display in Dahlem since 1973, before moving into its current location in 1983.

I needed some more thank you cards in my stash and quickly made this card using SSS stamps and dies. Used bright spring blossom colours so will add this to the current Flickr Challenge. Blogged here

I white embossed an image from Kaiser Kraft and coloured over it with Memento Inks. I placed these behind diecut heart windows and pierced a design along the card edges.

Debby Hughes inked up her stamp and added water. It needs some experimenting with the amount but this time I loved the result!

Ink blended background. embossed and highlighted with white ink.

These are among my favourite American die cuts and are part of a large set I have. There are unusual combinations of animals and unusual design elements in them. There is the howling cat at left with the moon, a black squirrel which one doesn't often see in Halloween but which I love, with an owl and moon at top, a more predictable flying witch with moon at right and fabulously symmetrical two black arched cats in front of an orange moon at front.

Embossed and magnificent.
