Intricate images of an ancient culture are embedded within the stones from this site on a scale so small that they cannot be seen with the naked eye unless one knows what they are actually looking at. These carefully manufactured images appear to be embedded within a quartz glaze applied on the surface of the stones; this quartz glaze allows the micro images to be permanently fused within the surface of the stone preventing the deterioration of these images across deep time.
This pyramidal symbol appears to be a constant and repeating image that represents a shared symbol of humanity past, present, and future; as above and so below. This blackened blue pigment used in conjunction with precision ochre micro drawings can only be viewed using modern digital magnification. Our Modern Technology is just arriving on the crest of beginning to hold the ability and technology to even see these complex images that were left for us to eventually decipher; North America, culture unknown.
On the first 3 days, we trekked in subtropical humidity (200%!) , excruciating heat, and occasional storms. I started with 1 liter of water on my back but very soon, I have to maintain 2 liters to get me from one rest stop to the next, which is usually only one hour apart.
From the village of Tal (arriving on day 3) and on, every major village along the trek would have a safe drinking water station. The scheme was mandated and installed by ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project), funded by a New Zealand group, managed by the locals who receive training from ACAP. It is an effort to reduce plastic bottle disposal on the mountain by the trekkers, thus increase the sustainability of the treks, and also a mean for the locals to increase their income.
