I spent some well-needed puppy time yesterday, photographing this sweetie. Elsa is a beagle/golden retriever mix born December 26, 2017. She's a strong-willed, smart and determined little girl, and loves to play. She is doing great with potty training and is up to date on vaccinations. She will be spayed, microchipped, and will weigh between 35-45 lbs full grown.
Key is a Profoto D1 (stock glass diffuser) in a Magnum reflector with diffusion material in front, with a grid on top of that.
Background gradient is an AcuteB head in a CreativeLight softbox-umbrella laying on the ground.

Je suis très fière d'Elsa (une fois n'est pas coutume, la pauvre). Comme vous les savez, en laisse Elsa est un vrai fauve qui fait peur à tout le monde. Mais moi je soupçonnais déjà un comportement très différent sans la laisse. Le problème c'est que vu son attitude, personne ne m'a jamais proposé de la détacher pour faire un essai, notamment de rencontre avec un autre chien. C'est chose faite ! Ce matin j'ai croisé une dame avec son chien Bo (déjà un ami de ma Betsy, voir photo en commentaire). Comme Bo est très grand et très calme, sur proposition de la dame j'ai lâché Elsa. Et voilà : une Elsa toute gentille qui est allée saluer Bo, qui a ignoré la dame et ses friandises et qui avait une attitude presque humble. Evidemment Bo est immense, Elsa semblait minuscule à côté et c'est un mâle en plus, mais tout de même j'étais ravie. J'emporterai désormais mon appareil photo pour immortaliser ça si nous nous rencontrons de nouveau.
I am very proud of Elsa (for once, sorry Elsa). As you know, Elsa on a leash is a real beast who scares everyone. But I already suspected a very different behavior without the leash. The problem is that given her attitude, no one has ever offered to take her off to give it a try, especially meeting another dog. It's done ! This morning I met a lady with her dog Bo (already a friend of my Betsy, see photo in comment). As Bo is very big and very calm, at the lady's suggestion I l unleashed Elsa. There you go: a very sweet Elsa who went to greet Bo, who ignored the lady and her treats and who had an almost humble behaviour. Obviously Bo is huge, Elsa looked tiny next to him and he's a male, but still, I was very happy. I will take my camera from now on to immortalize this if we meet again.
Avant d'avoir Figaro, je considérais Elsa comme un grand chien, surtout comparé à Lewis. Euh, je crois que tout compte fait elle n'est pas aussi grande que ça.
Before having Figaro, I considered Elsa to be a big dog, especially compared to Lewis. Uh, I think all things considered she's not that big.
Pauvre Elsa, l'automne et l'hiver vont être long. Elle adore passer son temps dehors, en été elle était tout le temps dans le jardin, notamment couchée sous le magnolia. Aujourd'hui on a un temps horrible : pluie, vent, beurk... Elsa est dans un panier au salon et elle soupire beaucoup ;-)
Poor Elsa, autumn and winter are going to be long. She loves spending her time outside, in summer she was always in the garden, especially lying under the magnolia. Today we have horrible weather: rain, wind, yuck ... Elsa is in a basket in the living room and she sighs a lot ;-)
Cette photo date du 16 janvier, mais aujourd'hui nous avons de nouveau de la neige. Je vais essayer de prendre congé demain après-midi pour pouvoir en profiter car on annonce de la pluie à partiir de mercredi ou jeudi.

Elsa : "Oui c'est vrai j'ai attaqué Lewis hier, mais moi au moins je ne mords pas ma maman ! Ce matin Lewis avait plein de plantes accrochées dans les poils et il y a eu un vrai combat entre lui et maman pour les lui retirer. Maman portait des gros gants mais malgré ça elle a les mains toutes rouges maintenant."
Elsa : "Yes it's true I attacked Lewis yesterday, but at least I don't bite my mom! This morning Lewis had lots of plants hanging in his hair and there was a real fight between him and mom to get them out. Mom was wearing big gloves but despite that her hands are all red now."

I remember buying some random barbie clothes on ebay months ago and never got the chance to try it on my dolls so I've decided to try it on Elsa today! :)

Ne vous fiez pas à son air de Sainte-Nitouche ni à sa relative propreté. Contrairement à ce que la photo peut laisser penser, il faisait horriblement boueux. Et comme si ça ne suffisait pas, en voulant sauter sur une voiture (!) elle a fait une chute et s'est retrouvée sur le flanc.... dans une grosse flaque de boue. Elle était dans un état, elle avait la même couleur que Lewis :-(
Don't be fooled by her innocent look or her relative cleanliness. Contrary to what the photo might suggest, it was horribly muddy. And as if that were not enough, while wanting to jump on a car (!) she fell in a big puddle of mud. She ended up with the same colour as Lewis :-(
J'ai bien fait d'aller chez la vétérinaire avec Lewis, car elle m'a donné tout un traitement, de la pommade à mettre avant la promenade plus des antibiotiques et un médicament contre les démangeaisons. Ce sont ces fichus aoûtats (fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ao%C3%BBtat) qui sont particulièrement "méchants" cette année (ma vétérinaire a dit qu'elle a des patients tous les jours à cause de ça). D'ailleurs Elsa doit prendre le même anti-démangeaisons car elle se gratte tout le temps et partout.
Imaginez le matin avant de partir travailler je dois donner 3 médicaments à Rambo, 2 à Pistache et maintenant 2 à Elsa et Lewis ! Je crois que je vais me lever encore un peu plus tôt. Heureusement, à partir de mercredi prochain je serai en congés pour 2 semaines !
I did well to go to the vet with Lewis because she gave me a treatment : some ointment to put before the walk plus antibiotics and an itch medication. It's due to harvest mites (autumns chigger - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trombiculidae) that are particularly "naughty" this year (my vet said she has patients every day because of that). Even Elsa must take the same anti-itching because she scratches herself all the time and everywhere.
Imagine in the morning before going to work, I have to give 3 medicines to Rambo, 2 to Pistache and now 2 more to Elsa and Lewis. I think I'll get up a little bit earlier (thankfully from next Wednesday I'll be on leave for 2 weeks)
