The tail gun. The B-52D's from my base shot down two MIG 21s during Operation Linebacker II. They were the first air to air kills by a tail gunner since the Korean War, and also the last two since then. And now there are no more tail gunners on any planes. I saw one of them when they returned and they had a big celebration for him for shooting down a MIG.

This is the oldest B-52 model and my personal favorite. The G and H models are ok but their tails are shaved down and they aren't painted black. Whenever I have to go to Ellsworth AFB I drive by this, just outside the Main Gate and it brings back memorys.

Senior Airman Timothy Hoffpauir controls a Remotec bomb disposal robot, using a remote control panel Dec. 1, 2010, at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. The robot can be operated up to 1,250 feet away from the control unit, which helps protect EOD technicians from being injured by an explosion.
