Here you can see the D40x sensor with its IR blocking filter removed. Without this filter, and without an IR passing filter, the D40x now records both IR and Visible light.
This is how our living room media rack looks, now that I rewired the old Noise Generator to make it much more interactive and blinky. Each of the toggle switches now operates one of the yellow indicator lights. (The light holes used to house dimmer-style knobs.) The switches make a very satisfying metallic CLICK when switched.
More importantly, I learned a bunch about basic wiring/electronics while doing this, so more ambitious projects are now more within reach.
My desktop at my previous job at Contech. The Contech Cows always kept a close watch on my work and helped keep the bugs to a minimum. I have monkeys in my current job, but I miss my cows.

My local Walmart recently under went a slight remodel in adding new signage as well as a slight rearrangement in aisles for some departments. I figured I'd take some photos of all the new sights. Pictures of the old arrangements can be found in the same album.

This morning I did remember about that mobile phone collection hidden in my cellar since years... None of then was able to power up anymore... But the most surprizing thing is that my girlfriend did not complain !!!

Man, is this place retro? I can't remember if this electronic store was still open back in 2007 when this photo was taken. Tape recorders and Hi-Fi components? Some young ones have never come across them in their lives...

The chip south of center marked 4580 C318G JRC is, I believe, an op amp.
A little firefly made of paperclips, at ATtiny13 and an LED. It capacitively senses its body to determine if it is being touched, waking up every ten seconds or so on watchdog to do this.
If it's being touched, it'l start pulsing its LED gently, flashing a random number of times for a random duration each time before going back into a deep sleep.

The Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) Electronics Compartment or "IEC" houses all of the electronics responsible for control, data handling, and telemetry for the Webb telescope's scientific instruments.
The ISIM is one-of-a-kind living framework that provides electrical power, computing resources, cooling capability as well as extreme structural stability to the Webb telescope. It is a state-of-the-art bonded graphite-epoxy composite attached to the backside of Webb’s telescope structure.
The ISIM will contain the four science instruments that will record images and spectra of astronomical objects whose light will be collected by the giant optics of Webb’s telescope element.
The electronics boxes that control each instrument will be mounted in the gift-wrapped IEC and protected from the harsh conditions of space during the mission.

Running 10.6.4. OS X sees it as a MacBook Pro. Everything appears to work except for sleep. I haven't tested HDMI yet. Had to replace the stock wifi g/n/bt card with a Dell 1510.
The Selectric typewriter printers (I had 2 of them) had pretty good output, compared to the dot-matrix printers of the time, but were slow, noisy, and tended to beat themselves to death..... The H89 was a great computer. Wish I had kept it for historical sake.

Probably 30 - 40 years old analog multi meter. Still in good working order and coming in handy to read voltage and current fluctations that cannot be easily tracked on a digital meter and are too slow for the oscilloscope.
