Electronics is still in the middle of the store.
You can see the filthy air vents above the televisions. It was like that throughout the store.
In the top-right corner is my old soldering iron that I used to build circuits with. The scale makes it look ridiculous next to this modern circuit board that was floated in a solder bath (irons are so last-millennium!).

Yep, it's the same black décor 2.0 counter seen in other recently remodeled Walmart stores, only now it's moved to the back of the department, and mated with another side counter to the right, and self-serve photo kiosks to the left. Much better methinks, and I'd be willing to bet the associates like it too! And there's a good reason the lock-up merchandise has been moved up there as well, as we'll see in the next photo...

My PCB order from Golden Pheonix arrived, a day less than two weeks after ordering them. Not bad turnaround!
The PCBs themselves are really nice and I have loads (ordered a panel though I'll only need one or two of each), though I'm yet to actually solder them up. I plan to use some solder paste I just got and reflow them under the grill, which I hope will work.
The only problem I've identified is that one of the PCBs is physically broken (a small bit snapped off when being cut presumably) which breaks two traces, but they'll be easy to fix with a small wire if needed.
They are for my current project - see if you can guess what it is!

Nikon new D810: the world's sharpest DSLR, launched in July 2014 (36 MPix, ISO 32-64-12800-51200, 5 fps - up to 7 fps).
Strange looking "obsolete electronics" although I am reluctant to call them obsolete just old. Although the Bakelite switches are unusual. the Out house conduits of another era.
It is funny, I don't really think about how I hold a camera, I just hold it. I suppose I don't hold it right seeing as I don't think about it much. It hasn't hurt me up to this point so I am not going to worry about it. I had nothing today so this is the best I got.

This how I normally setup my camera when I'm taking close up shots of people. For the purpose of showing you exactly how my camera was setup, I had to mount it on my Manfrotto 055PROXB tripod using a Manfrotto 026 Swivel Adapter in lieu of an actual tripod head mount (I haven't picked up one yet because the one I want costs around $180). I used the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens to take the shot. My flash is mounted on a Newton Bracket which allows me to rotate my camera vertically without having to change the position of the flash. Attached to the flash hot shoe of the camera is a Zeikos ZE-OCSCN Off Camera Shoe Cord for Nikon Flash. The Nikon flash cord costs $68 on Amazon while the Zeikos that I use only costs $14. So if you need a dependable flash cord, pick up the Zeikos and save some money. The reason I use the flash cord is because of the inconsistency of using Nikon CLS to trigger my SB-700 flash when in this configuration. At first I was using the SB-700 with the Newtwon Bracket and Nikon CLS to trigger it but I experienced misfires. The SB-700 is in TTL mode with the diffuser dome on. I have a Rouge Flashbender wrapped around the top of the SB-700 using it as a big bounce surface which works very well. I got the idea to use the Flashbender in this manner from watching a Kelby Training video about using a flash to light a group of people. As you can see, this setup works like a charm, it produce a very nice even light and lights up the shot just right without causing any real hot spots. For the Day 098/365 shot, my camera was in Manual mode, IS0 100, Aperture f/1.8, Shutter 1/125sec. I shot wide open at f/1.8 so that I could blow the background out with bokeh.
