After I purchased the Sanyang 7.5mm fisheye lens I found it quite inconvenient to continually change lenses when I wanted to take one or two shots with the fisheye. I already have a 14-42mm kit lens and a 45-175mm telephoto zoom lens for the G3 and a third lens was awkward.
So I decided to purchase another micro four-thirds simple camera just for the fisheye. I like the Olympus Pen range, but I finally decided on the Lumix - mainly because of the similarity of the menus and controls to the G3. The GF6 is small and has some good reviews so I started looking for one. When I saw a “refurbished” (probably an unwanted return as it is in pristine condition) body only on ebay it only took me 30 minutes to think about it before clicking the Buy Now button.
And it’s lovely. A much simpler camera than the G3 of course, but all of the things that I need for the fisheye are there. What is an irritation are the ‘scenes’. I makes me want to vomit (sorry) when I see “cute food” for example, but since I don’t have to switch to that I don’t have to see it. I know camera manufactures will try anything to sell more cameras since smartphones have rather taken over much of the lower end of camera purchases, but this social stuff (selfies, cute food and silly filters) are really just a load of tosh. And the wi-fi options to upload photos to your smartphone or desktop computer are so clumsy and inconvenient that I gave up after having to restart the iPhone to make it work properly. It’s easier to take the SD card out and slot it in the iPad camera connecting kit. The pictures have been transferred quicker that you can type in the password on the iPhone.

As of December 2014, my bus has the most miles on it out of the 2013 Blue Birds in the fleet.

Coming in the front entrance and hanging a left down the first aisle (at least, I *think* this is the very first aisle), this is the view one would encounter. I kind of like those big overhead signs, but I feel certain the style as seen here is going to be changing, at least a little bit...

One light source (E640 with barndoors) directly on top, 2 white reflectors on both sides to kill shadows.
At last, the Minolta I always wanted to get, the XE-1. The product of a 1970s collaboration between Leica and Minolta to develop a new SLR, this all-black version is apparently 'rare'. I don't know about that, but the 58mm f/1.4 Rokkor-PF lens predates the camera (there is no linkage to tell the exposure system the aperture that has been selected), but I have plenty of other Rokkor lenses to use with the camera. (This lens may find a natural home with my SR-7 camera.)
Now to run a film through this beast ...
Minolta è uno dei marchi storici della fotografia e l'eccellenza dei suoi prodotti non ha bisogno alcuna presentazione. Anche se negli ultimi anni l'avvento dei colossi dell'elettronica (Sony, Panasonic, Samsung) ha cacciato dal mercato quasi tutti i nomi storici della fotografia, gli appassionati della vera arte fotografica conservano gelosamente le loro fotocamere Minolta analogiche e sempre più collezionisti sono attratti dalla qualità delle ottiche e dalla precisione dei corpi macchina di questo costruttore.
La XG-M puó essere considerata l'ultima evoluzione della XG-2, un modello storico di casa Minolta. La variaziona più significativa della XG-M fu di modificare leggermente il design del corpo macchina e l'aggiungere una guancia in plastica per facilitarne l'impugnatura. Lo styling divenne cosí molto simile a quello della X-700 e sará il capostipite di tutte le Minolta susseguenti. Anche il nuovo logo della società, il sole che sorge, fu utilizzato per la prima volta proprio a partire da questo modello, ma il cambiamento più importante fu la capacità di utilizzare il nuovo e più veloce Motor Drive 1 grazie ad una meccanica piú robusta e la lettera "M" nel logo indica proprio questa facoltá. Un altro miglioramento significativo nella XG - M fu anche il nuovo rivestimento in similpelle non piú soggetto al restringimento, ma il piú importante di tutti fu finalmente la possibilitá di controllare l'esposizione anche in manuale, cosa prima non possibile possibile.
In quest'ultimo caso l'utente seleziona l'apertura diaframma e la macchina sceglie il tempo di scatto più opportuno ma una serie di indicatori a led visibili nel mirino accanto alla scala dei tempi indica il valore impostato e di quello suggerito dall'esposimetro.
Come tutte le XG anche la M é dotata del sistema "Touch Switch" che utilizza la conduttibilitá della pelle per attivare l'esposimetro che ritornava in "Stand-by" dopo pochi secondi finchè non si sfiorando nuovamente il pulsante di scatto si riattivano tutte le funzioni.
La MINOLTA XG-M è una reflex dalla linea ancora molto gradevole e moderna, e che al di là dell'estetica é un modello molto versatile grazie alla possibilitá di funzionare sia in modalità completamente manuale che semi-automatica a priorità di diaframmi. In quest'ultimo caso l'utente seleziona l'apertura diaframma e la macchina sceglie il tempo di scatto più opportuno, oltre a ció é visibile anche il simbolo di pronto flash.
La dotazione tecnica è ancora oggi di tutto rispetto:
- Obiettivo Minolta MD con focale 50mm
- Diaframma a iride con aperture da f/1.7 a f/16
- Otturatore sul piano focale controllato elettronicamente, con tendine in tessuto a scorrimento orizzontale e tempi di scatto da 1sec. a 1/1.000sec più la posa B
- Esposimetro con lettura di tipo TTL e sensibilità ISO da 12-6400
- Selettore di compensazione dell'esposizione con intervallo +/- 2EV
- Autoscatto elettronico con ritardo di 10 secondi, disinseribile manualmente
- Baionetta di tipo Minolta SR
- Alimentazione con due pile LR44 o SR44
Questo modello, grazie alla sua qualità e versatilità divenne una delle piú facili fotocamere analogiche da utilizzare e di fatto il modello di punta della serie Minolta XG, tanto che la sua discedenza é riconducibile fino alla Minolta X-370 che, dopo l'uscita di produzione nel 1990, continuó ad essere costruita in Cina dalla Seagull e venduta in tutto il mondo fino al 2005 come Minolta X-370s. Ancora oggi possibile acquistarla sotto diversi marchi ed é una delle ultime fotocamere reflex analogiche e con messa a fuoco manuale.

My local Kmart will be shrinking starting in July. The store is one of supposedly 60 test stores to try a new strategy to increase sales by putting the entire store on sale.
Marshalls and other unannounced tenant(s) that will make for a 45,000 sq ft project. Interesting thing here is that the Kmart store will still be around 73,000 Sq ft rather than the 59,000 that would of been half the store. In other words, the store will still technically occupy more than half of the building.
The project is expected to be complete in Q2 next year. Hopefully this project will not turn around and cause this store to close completely as the Anderson, SC store did. Whatever happens, I'll be sure to send picture updates when I can.

I've finally got a grown-up camera! Say hello to my new Olympus OM-D E-M10 II.
Now I have to read the manual.
Out with the old (broken SD1000), in with the new (fancy G10).
I'm really curious to see how this does shooting shows at venues that wouldn't allow my D70. The sensor's similar to the rest of the current Canon point and shoot lineup (icky 1/1.7" CCD sensor) but the lens is nice (28-140mm f/2.8-f/4.5), it's got a viewfinder and dedicated knobs for ISO and exposure compensation and a lots of tweakable features to get just the picture I want.
