The valve (or tube) kicked started the world of electronics in the earlier part of the 20th century, but it wasn't until the invention of the transistor by Bell Labs in the late 40s did it really take off. Then when Jean Hoerni and Fairchild invented the planar manufacturing process, the integration of many transistors using fundamentally a photographic reduction deposition and growth process, did the world of Integrated Circuits start. The transistor is now pretty much taken for granted, but it kick started and enabled the modern world.

Minolta launched the X700 in 1981. It was the top model of their final manual-focus SLR series before the introduction of the auto-focus Minolta 7000.
It was a product of its time with multiple programs, electronically controlled shutter, TTL-flash-metering, ...

Got to have a lot of light on the bench! I know, it's a little untidy at the moment. Several projects are brewing at the same time ;-)

I promised my friend Lee Shelly that I would upload a product-style shot taken by my E-M5II in Hi-Res mode so as to show detail and DOF at f/8.
Well, here it is. I don't do product shots so I made no effort to make this look good. Plus, there is no good Lightroom plug-in for the Hi-Res RAW files, so this is only a JPG SOOC.
Despite the fact that this shot is nothing to brag about, I'm very impressed with the amount of detail it picked up for all the dust and crud I have all over my E-M1. Wow! I really need to clean that thing, but look at the detail there--the Hi Res mode has impressed me! I can't wait to be able to work in RAW with this camera and its Hi-Res capability.

Electronics were located in the back in the Jackson Kmart, in the usual location on the right side of the store. I don't remember seeing any kind of strange mix with appliances, mattresses, or furniture for a change either!

This was the first Yashica TLR with crank advance and it was released in 1957. The earliest models were equipped with a 75-mm 3.5 Lumaxar taking lens and a 75-mm 3.2 Lumaxar viewing lens, succeeded by 80-mm lenses with the same specifications as you can see in this picture.
Still working to get my product photography skills to a higher level...
