Fleet number 758e was seen outside the Christmas Market in East Princes Street Gardens. The electric vehicle is working route 1 from Seafield to Clermiston and has been captured in front of the LNER Big Wheel. 758e was new in August 2025.
All change at Athlone
In the centre of Ireland, the town bus service has become the first in the country to go all electric with its new fleet of fully electric single deckers for the town's bus service in January 2023.
Launched at the end of January 2023, a fleet of new Alexander Dennis/ BYD enviro200EV operated by Bus Eireann, 11 of these EA class operate routes A1 & A2.
During the initial set up, some of the former Wrightbus streetlite WM class were retained while teething problems were ironed out with the new technology.
These single-deck battery-electric buses, EA class are 12m long with two doorways, bespoke design features, wheelchair ramps, usb charging & coloured priority seating, with up to 73 passengers on 27 fixed seats, six tip-up seats within a permanent wheelchair space and dedicated accommodation for a pram, pushchair or buggy.
The Athlone town service operates with two routes ( A1 & A2 ) from Bealnamulla via Athlone bus & rail station, beyond to Creggan every 15 minutes.

Metroline are to introduce London's first electric double-decker buses. BYD1471-1475 were initially going to Cricklewood for route 16, but now the buses are to enter service from Willesden Bus Garage for route 98.
BYD1472 (LJ16 EZN), pictured here on Edgware Road, was out on driver training duties on Tuesday. The design is a bit boxy and has been compared as an updated version to the preceding VPs on the 98 in design. However, they do look more refreshing once you see them for yourselves. I expect the buses will be out by the end of the month.

In the heart of Georgian Dublin, once frequented by the clip clop of horse drawn carriages, Merrion Square seen some contrast today as the new Wrightbus StreetDeck Electroliner fully electric double decker was showcased to the media as the National Transport Authority announced 120 vehicles to various cities around Ireland, Limerick to get the first batch next year.
The Electroliner has a rapid charge time of just 2.5 hours, travelling up to 200 miles on full charging & zero emissions.

I never really like photos taken with the iPhone, not sure why, but it feels a bit artificially perfect to me out of camera. But I liked the sunrise glow hitting the Fitzwilliam here and how it is mimicked by the yellow on my Brammo.
I did have my X100F with me, but it was really quite cold, so I didn't stop to get it out of my bag, something I now regret.

Summerhill Garage AX 624 operating a route 15A to Greenhills dating back to 2006, at the time using the Volvo B7 diesel engine, now in 2022 coming to the end of their life cycle with Dublin Bus.
Ember Core of Edinburgh has recently started a new service (E3) between Dundee and Glasgow serving many towns and cities on the way. Seen in Buchanan Bus Station is SG22LTU.

Pleasantly surprised to see a grand spanking 4 OMEs grace the 28 this morning. This marks the first electric outing on the west London service between Kensal and Wandsworth, the bus type otherwise for routes 23 and C3.

London General route 521: London Bridge Station - Waterloo Station, Mepham Street
Departing Kingsway / Holborn Station (M), towards Aldwych / The Royal Courts of Justice (K)
London General have retained route 521 from Waterloo (RA) with new Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC EVs, the new contract starting from 27 August 2016.
The new buses started entering service a few days late on 30 August. They are the first products from the new Alexander Dennis-BYD partnership, ADL providing the Enviro200 MMC bodywork with BYD supplying their K9E drivetrain.
Go-Ahead have introduced a new lower-case lettering, SEe, for the vehicles to differentiate them between their Enviro200 diesel SE-coded equivalents, a first for the London bus fleet numbering system. More coming soon on London Connected.
