A view of charging stations on Electric Drive, a portion of West 2nd Street, between Walter Seaholm Drive and Sandra Muraida Way, that is Austin Energy's showcase for electric transportation in Austin’s new Seaholm EcoDistrict.
Electric Drive is a mobility hub that features bike sharing, car sharing, access to the hike-and-bike trail, and charging options for two- and four wheel electric vehicles (EVs). It is a key component of Austin Energy's Plug-In EVerywhere network and demonstrates Austin as a Smart City leader in electric transportation. Plug-In EVerywhere allows EV drivers to charge at 1000+ charging ports throughout Austin for only $4.17 a month.
Straight ahead is the iconic City of Austin Power Plant sign outside the Seaholm Power Plant, a historic former power station located on the north shore of Lady Bird Lake in Downtown Austin. Opened in 1951, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark.
The plant remained an active part of the city’s power generation system until 1989. Re-development of the plant began in 2013. The interior of the turbine generator building was converted to a mixture of office, retail and restaurant space, with tenants occupying the facility beginning in 2015.
Evidence of changing modes of transport over time: an obsolete rail station for a now phantom line, bollards protecting a walking and cycling path from the intrusion of motorized vehicles, and a charging station for electric vehicles.
I liked the way that the background Christmas lights on the trees were reflected off this electric vehicle parked at a downtown charging station in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

I took this photo to introduce myself on a car page on Facebook a couple of years ago. The car was actually the subject, but this was a beautiful and cold day in Trondheim and I was actually just as happy with the surroundings as with the car. I am often fascinated by those trees behind the car when I am in the area, especially when there is frost and/or snow on them. I think they are called "sørgebjørk" in Norwegian and weeping birch in English.
And today's music reference has to be Drive by The Cars :-) Came across the old hit when I was working on the photo today and had to go to Spotify.
With current fuel worries, it is nice to have a cheap EV to get around town. I bought this e-trike around 6 months ago - long before fuel worries were hanging over our heads, and it is turning out to be a good fair weather replacement for the car at a pinch. With a range of at least 50 km, it will get me to most places here in Mount Gambier. I can just about carry 4 supermarket shopping bags, including the space in the rear cooler. The front basket holds the essential thirst aid kit (and whatever camera of choice)! Charging is as easy as plugging in for a few hours and costs around 20 cents per charge. I still use the car for most trips, but it is nice to know I can still get around if things ever get to the stage of fuel rationing. At a tenth the price of the current cheapest EV, it is a good alternative for a lot of short local trips. And I can pedal it and pretend I am an athlete!

The #D700 is fine in the dark, really. Just accept you can't lift the shadows 5 stops in post. Maybe newer cameras are too good, making us all lazy, hmmm.
I've been hearing about all these problems with electric cars in the cold weather we're having. Gee, just stop at Walmart and pick up a 24 pack of ZZ batteries.

With nights getting longer, I decided it was finally time to go out again for some night photos and here is LG71DJO seen at Sloane Square. What is interesting about this batch of new buses is that they have a pantograph which can draw quite a decent amount of charge to allow for easy(ier) charging and probably for forward compatibility if charging was to be built roadside. These do not have a LED blindset, however, which seems to be the norm now with new vehicles.
We stopped at the grocery store before heading over to get our Flu and Covid shots. Someone has decorated their Electric Vehicle up for Halloween.

With the XR demos going on again today in Westminster and Hyde Park Corner, this was quite a challenge to snap. LE21FTF is seen at Westminster Bridge with LED displays on the first occurrence to operate the 148. These have been ordered for the new tender changes in West London and will transfer when one or more of these routes are transferred to RATP.
This Electric Hot Rod didn't win over the locals very well!

LY71GHZ, the Electroliner demo current in service with Croydon Garage is seen at Hayes in some sun working the usual to Bromley North.
The first ever electric bus to attend Imber was LG71DHZ, here it is departing Imber Village during Imberbus. Sailsbury Reds have some electric BYDs now which allowed it to be topped up with battery juice.
