Kulmiye party, Somaliland;s former opposition party won the presidential election held on the 26th of June 2010, the NEC Somalilands election commission announced the out come and the winner of the presidential race, president elect Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo and vice president elect Abdirahman Abdilahi Zailie on Thursday night July the 2nd in Hargeisa.
This was a history in the making again Somaliland, second nation in Africa where Democracy is part of there heritage here in Somaliland.

Dr. Hassan al-Turabi a leading Sudanese scholar, politician and thinker. He co-founded the National Congress Party NCP. But him and al-Bashir the Sudanese president disagreed and that led to his expulsion and imprisonment several times. He leads the National Popular party. He is a strong advocate of Sharia Islamic ruling. He is also a strong supporter of the Darfurian quest for justice, the leader of the JEM movement is one of his followers. He is also in favor for the South to gain independence but through peaceful means. I interviewed him and he is a very charismatic character but a true politician that knows how to avoid questions by given two contradicting answers... He is loved and loathed by many Sudanese.

فیصل آباد(احمد یٰسین)انتخابی قواعد کی خلاف ورزی پر مسلم لیگ ن کے رہنما سابق وزیر مملکت خزانہ رانا محمد افضل کیخلاف پارٹی ٹکٹ کی مہم چلانے والے یوسی چیئرمین اور مخصوص نشستوں پر میونسپل کارپوریشن کے ممبر نااہل ہونے کا امکان ہے۔ ان بلدیاتی رہنماؤں کو نااہل کروانے کیلئے الیکشن کمیشن سے رجوع کیا جا رہا ہے۔ نیوزلائن کے مطابق الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان کے جاری کردہ قواعد کی رو سے کوئی بلدیاتی نمائندہ الیکشن عمل میں حصہ نہیں لے سکتا۔ وہ کسی امیدوار کے حق میں یا مخالفت میں مہم نہیں چلا سکتا۔ کسی امیدوار کیلئے ووٹ نہیں مانگ سکتا۔ بطور امیدوار الیکشن میں اس وقت تک حصہ نہیں لے سکتا جب تک کہ وہ مستعفی نہ ہوجائے۔ فیصل آباد میں بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے سابق وزیر مملکت کا الیکشن خراب کرنے کیلئے بھرپور مہم چلائی۔ بلدیاتی نمائندے الیکشن کا اعلان ہونے کے بعد رانا افضل کیخلاف پریس کانفرنسیں کرتے رہے۔ پریس کانفرنس میں کھلے عام اعلان کیا جاتا رہا کہ وہ راناا فضل کو الیکشن میں ہروانے کیلئے اس کیخلاف مہم چلائیں گے۔ اس کی کامیابی نہیں ہونے دیں گے۔ پریس کانفرنس میں رانا افضل کو مسلم لیگ ن کی ٹکٹ جاری نہ کرنے کا مطالبہ کیا جاتا رہا۔ بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے الیکشن شیڈول جاری ہونے کے بعد متعدد مرتبہ قومی اسمبلی کے حلقہ این اے 110سے امیدوار رانا افضل کیخلاف پریس کانفرنس کی اور ساتھ میں بھی مطالبہ کرتے رہے کہ این اے 110سے مسلم لیگ ن کی ٹکٹ نواز ملک کو جاری کی جائے۔ نیوزلائن کے مطابق قومی اسمبلی کے امیدوار رانا افضل کیخلاف مہم 39بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے چلائی۔ مہم چلانے والوں میں غلام بھیک اعوان‘ شمائلہ چوہدری‘ سابق نائب ٹاؤن ناظم میاں سجاد‘ ڈپٹی میئر چوہدری غفور‘ شکیل اعوان‘ جمیل چیمہ‘ فریاد خٹک‘ غازی محمد عمر‘ اعجاز احمد ناگرہ‘ چوہدری طارق محمود پنسوتہ‘ چوہدری ریاست علی‘ چوہدری ارشد محمود‘ اعظم مجید‘ ایوب اسلم منج‘ عاطف عباس‘ آصف علی گل‘ سابق ایم پی اے الیاس انصاری کے بھائی انوار احمدانصاری‘ عبدالستار انصاری‘ مرزا محمد اویس‘ میاں یٰسین امین‘ میاں طاہر ایوب‘ میاں شرافت علی ‘ میاں محمد نعیم ‘ خان عبداللہ‘ اقرار انصاری‘ حافظ مظہر مقصود‘ ہدائت علی انصاری‘ سارہ امجد یٰسین‘ ریحانہ شاہد‘ رضیہ سلطانہ‘ فرزانہ چوہدری‘ کلثوم اختر‘ صدیق بٹ‘ شفقت رحمان‘ ریاض مسیح‘ رانا وحید الرحمان‘ رانا حسن خاں‘ رانا اعجاز حسن خاں‘ مولوی شفیق مغل شامل ہیں۔جبکہ دوسری جانب شیراز کاہلوں‘ اقبال شریف‘ عمردراز‘ زاہد گجر وغیرہ درجن بھر بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے رانا افضل کے حق میں پارٹی ٹکٹ کی مہم چلائی اور پریس کانفرنس کرتے رہے۔نیوزلائن کے مطابق الیکشن قواعد کی رو سے انتخابی شیڈول جاری ہونے کے بعد قومی اسمبلی اور صوبائی اسمبلی کے کسی امیدوار کے حق میں یا مخالفت میں کوئی بلدیاتی نمائندہ مہم نہیں چلا سکتا۔ بلدیاتی نمائندوں کو سختی کیساتھ پابند کیا گیا ہے کہ وہ انتخابی عمل میں حصہ نہ لیں۔ غیرجانبدار رہیں۔ کسی بھی حوالے سے جانبداری کا مظاہرہ نہ کریں۔ الیکشن عمل میں امیدوار یا کسی امیدوار کے سپورٹر یا مخالف کے طور پر حصہ لینے کیلئے لازم قرار دیا گیاہے کہ وہ مستعفی ہو جائیں۔ استعفیٰ نہ دینے کی صورت میں ان کیلئے غیرجانبدار رہنا لازمی ہوگا۔ نیوزلائن کے مطابق الیکشن شیڈول کے جاری ہونے کے بعد فیصل آباد کے 39بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے رانا افضل کی مخالفت اور درجن بھر بلدیاتی نمائندوں نے رانا افضل کے حق میں مہم چلا کر الیکشن قواعد کی خلاف ورزی کی ہے جس پر وہ نااہل ہو سکتے ہیں۔ فیصل آباد کا ایک شہر ی ان بلدیاتی نمائندوں کی نااہلی کیلئے الیکشن کمیشن سے رجوع کرنے کی تیاری کررہا ہے جس کیلئے ریکارڈ اکٹھا کیا جا رہا ہے۔

A century ago type specimens still had a separate section for election material. These images come from Letterproef der Lettergieterij „Amsterdam”, voorheen N Tetterode (Amsterdam / Rotterdam); most likely this copy is from 1928. Why don’t we cheer up our contemporary over-designed, über-slick ballots as well as the vernacular homemade signage for polling stations? (which is a nice combo by the way)
