Jaqueline has been handing out "I Voted" stickers since 7this morning and she's still smiling. This is her first time as an election judge and has been learning a lot, she said. We shared our excitement about taking part in the election, both of us surprised how good it feels. When I asked her if I could take a portrait, she was quick to agree. She formally and politely excused herself to the other judges and took me to the hallway of the polling place (a school). Students flowed around us as I took a few shots.
Here's what I'm learning in this project - people are happy to pose for me, but they assume they're committing to one shot. As I keep going, I hear a little "oh," and the expression changes. I've got to get more upfront about the goal and my hope I can keep shooting 'till I get it right.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting held a debate with all four U.S. Senate candidates in South Dakota October 23, 2014.
The race gained national attention.
Some polls show a close race among three of the candidates – Democrat Rick Weiland, Republican Mike Rounds and Independent Larry Pressler – with Independent Gordon Howie far behind. They are seeking the seat held by Sen. Tim Johnson (D), who is retiring.

Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change, MDC, supporters are taken by police from outside the Harvest House, the headquarters of the MDC, in Harare, Zimbabwe, Friday April 25, 2008. Scores of heavily armed police raided opposition headquarters in Harare on Friday, forcibly taking hundreds into custody and arresting 300 people, opposition officials said. First time I’ve encountered a line in the years I’ve voted in this precinct.
The United States should require everyone to vote, and invest in voting infrastructure to accommodate every citizen…
whomever wins these elections, we'll give them the benefit of doubt and we'll give them a chance to prove themselves as long as they give us more fresh bones and good food!

These sign boards pop up like mushrooms every x time. Next sunday we're choosing the town and provincial councils. This are the fifth elections in six years, I think. We also colored a red ball, twice for the federal , once for the european and once for the regional parlements. Eleven million Belgians, living in 10 provinces or three official regions, ruled by six governments (and indirectly by the european commision also). All together 58 mandates or ministers that must be fed. A lack of democraty is one thing, too much is another.
WCDB Had constant coverage of the election going, and Pat asked me to cover some of it as an impartial observer. It's a good thing that I'm the *only* one (it seems) without a radio show :)
Two guys... chillin'... giving the on air personalities updates :)
