Late autumn photo of Elbow Lake in Kananaskis Alberta with a few tell tale signs winter is setting in.
Always a wonderful attraction to visit but the falls are not as large as they were several years ago before the adverse weather conditions and landslides.

I was quite taken by the shape of this trunk as it snaked its way past the conifers. Taken in Barnes's Grove, Buckinghamshire
I composed this photograph during a hike to Elbow Lake, in Alberta, Canada's Kananaskis Country. It is of the headwaters of the Elbow River.
The second cup of coffee from the Crossroads corner store at Iron Junction, MN cooled off quickly as we stood on the Rte. 37 overhead bridge waiting for the northbound CNR MRF local freight on the former Missabe. We knew we had 3 south bounds on the "Peg", but that wasn't the reason we came to the range. Just minutes after sunrise, the MRF with CN SD60 5416 raced north past us headed back to Virginia with a good-sized freight. This was a nice start to our day, only to get better with more EMD's and steaming pellets until sunset. CN MRF 5416 Irn Junction, MN September 15, 2021.
The hike to Elbow Lake, one view from which is pictured here, is one of the most popular for visitors to Alberta's Kananaskis Country.

After a very yummy lunch with a friend, the road took me down to Elbow Falls. Such a wonderfaul day!!
Getting to the falls early enough in the morning meant we got to enjoy it alone. But that didn't last long, and we had to share the beauty with lots of folks eventually.
I made an effort to get out on the last day of winter, Elbow falls on a glorious but cold day, I was trying out my new Lee Soft Grad filter set I really like them!
